bass upgrade

I installed this in my Ibanez Precision style bass (along with Aguilar 4P 60 pickups) and it works great. I had to modify the pot spacing in the pick guard a little, but I'm satisfied with the result.

Might require slight modifications

So this is prewired for the style of precision bass that has the output jack on the front. Mine however, has the output jack on the side. Under the strap button. So the lead to the output jack was about an inch too short. It's not really a huge deal. I just desoldered that lead from the pots. Then laid everything out inside the bass, and marked where I had to strip the coating to re solder the ground. Then I pulled it back apart, striped a small piece of coating where I marked it, then put heat shrink over the spot where Emerson striped it. Then I added about and inch of wire to the lead, and put some heat shrink over the solder joint. After that it was just a matter of putting everything in the bass. And Soldering the ground from the bridge, and the leads from my new Seymour Duncan SPB-3 Quarter Rounds. Whole project took less than an hour, and brought life back to my 22 year old p bass. Sounds amazing. The pots are smooth, but have just enough of a stiff movement that you can really dial in the knobs right were you want them. And overall, having everything prewired. Even with having to do some slight modification. It saved a lot of time and aggravation over doing a ground up wiring. Plus, the people at Emerson do some great work wiring everything to look nice and neat. It looks a lot better than the wiring that came in my bass from the factory. Not that anyone is every gonna pull the cover off to check out the wiring lol.

Big upgrade

Have them in two of my p style basses and the sound is so much better that what comes stock.
With the right amp settings, strings and pickup my basses sound anywhere from classic traditional to hi-fi modern depending on all of your tone settings on the bass and amp.

Big time upgrade

This is my 3rd Emerson p bass harness and I have dropped this into my Squires/Fenders and the difference is tremendous.
I also switched out the stock pickups to Dimarzzio area p and after that I settled on the Bartolini which sounded the best of the three.
I also use DR 40 TO 100 strings and combined with the Emerson harness the bass is just as loud as my active basses with a tone that is compressed with great lows and very high fidelity snappy clean highs and the result is no batteries needed to get a very modern sound and a great traditional sound when rolling back the tone knob.
I always use a cabinet with a tweeter and a high quality head that can get me a real bright sound when called for so I usually run the highs on my amp almost to the max just so the highs are there when I need them for snap or solos and just roll back the treble pot on the Emerson when I want a good old clear supporting deep tone.
I did all the side by side comparisons and this tandem of modifications completes the dream but the final piece is definitely the Emerson harness and dealing with Sweetwater for all of these components is just a pleasurable as they are the best and I dig the candy that comes with each purchase sweetening the experience even further.
Hope this helps and take it from a guy that has been playing shows for 50 years and still searching for the holy grail in sound and play man ship.
