About this ebook

Emma

You can do it.

The last words my brother ever said to me.

I’ve got one chance to prove him right.

And nothing is going to stop me.

Not my friends or family, who think I’m crazy.

Not even a tall, sexy cop, armed with a glare that melts panties.

Too bad I don’t have time to go to war with him.

Because I could think of a dozen different ways to bring him to his knees.

I can’t afford to pay the price of failure.

But the way he looks at me…

Makes me want to break every promise I’ve ever made.

Dominic

She’s a goddamn menace.

Wrecking me with tears and a mission I sure as shit relate to.

I want to help her, but some lines shouldn’t be crossed.

Nothing she says will change that.

She’s on a mission, but so am I.

And she’s my target.

We both know she doesn’t stand a chance.

But while my eyes are on her…

I can’t see the threat on the horizon.

There’s only one option, and I’ve got to bite the bullet to get it done.

Emma Hayes doesn’t know it yet, but she’s mine.

Dom and Emma have been dancing around each other for a year, but he has refused to give in because he still has deployments in the marine reserves. He finally gives in while preparing for another deployment, but makes a huge mistake. He does a pretty good grovel. Emma is a total bada$$, more than even her brother knows. Love them together. I received a free copy of this book.

I was introduced to this author and her Birch Maine world through ARC programs. This was provided by BookSprout. The book takes the story of Emma and Dom, as she is looking at joining the Birch Police Department. If you have read the other books in the series, these characters may be somewhat familiar. As the book opens, Emma is getting ready to join the police department and has been taking care of her neighbor’s daughter. Similar to the other men in these books, Dom has served in the military but is still active in the reserves. Although there is an attraction and flirtation between Emma and Dom, there is a hesitancy that is familiar to the other books. They try to manage their feelings along with Emma starting her new career and Dom’s concerns about being involved with someone while away serving his country. Adding to the relationship, the book has plenty action and adventure to keep the pages flipping.

Another great book in this series. The author has pulled us into the lives of Dom and Emma and does not let go. They have a connection that they fight against, not realizing that the other is feeling the same things. The story keeps you turning the pages with determination, heartbreak and love. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

About the author

USA Today Bestselling author by day and superhero by night, April spends her time split between real and fantasy worlds. While she writes across genres, her heart lives with Contemporary Romance that will tear her readers apart. She lives on the rocky coast of Maine, in the perfect place to visit the ocean but still live surrounded by the woods. Her son inspires her to write, demanding stories that he’s not allowed to read. As long as she has coffee, April can conquer the world… but she hates talking about herself in third person.
