I saw her first.
Blonde. Gorgeous. Feisty.
I was
captivated.

But it didn’t matter because when she walks out of my best friend’s bedroom half-naked, I know I’ve lost my chance.

Now we’re roommates and constantly fighting about our living arrangements. Though we argue about everything, I can’t stop thinking about her in all the wrong ways. I should move out so I can finally get over her, but the selfish part of me can’t let go.

When tragedy strikes, we’re left to deal with it together. Instead of pushing her away, I pull her
closer.

Just as we come to terms with our new reality, she reveals a life-changing event that affects us both.
And I’m left to make the hardest decision of my life—remain friends or confess my feelings and risk it all.

Baby Mine is book 1 in the Hunter & Lennon duet and must be read first. Recommended for mature audiences only due to sensitive subject matter. This book contains the death of a loved one and grief.

Pulls at your heart strings! So good!
Fantastic read! A little slow at the beginning for me but it totally made the climax because once it hits it hits you hard! Such an emotional and funny read. It pulls at your heart strings and takes you along for an amazing melody with Hunter and Lennon. Absolutely loved this.

This review is for both Baby Mine & Baby Yours

There is a lot of story going on throughout this duet. It starts 2 years ago, Hunter and Lennon meet at a bar but before he gets his chance with her, Lennon goes home with Hunter’s best friend and roommate. Lennon and Brandon end up in a serious relationship and she eventually moves in with them. Hunter’s way of dealing with wanting his best friend's girl involves being a jerk to her. Lennon thinks Hunter is a jerk and Hunter is torn up inside watching the woman he loves, love his best friend. When Brandon dies unexpectedly, Lennon and Hunter are left to grieve together. For the first time Hunter is able to put away his mask and be his true self around Lennon. He shows her his sweet and caring side but it gets harder and harder to hide his feelings. Lennon is a mess, she misses Brandon and she ends up relying on Hunter more than she should.

"Everytime you pushed me away, I was determined to pull you closer. You fought me, and it only made me love you harder. You denied me, but I loved you from afar."

Things get complicated when Lennon discovers she is pregnant, and even more complicated when Hunter has a plan to tell Lennon’s parents. They share a few kisses that have more passion in them then they should. Lennon is still grieving Brandon but can she also be developing feelings for Hunter? I was a teary-eyed mess when Hunter put his heart out there and Lennon wasn’t ready for it. The characters showed so much growth throughout the books. As they grieved together and comforted each other their strength grew individually and as a couple. Lennon had a long journey throughout these books, she had to deal with her grief, her new feelings for Hunter, her parents and a past hook up of Hunter’s all while being pregnant. When she finally cannot deny her love for Hunter any longer, she is afraid she lost her chance and that she made Hunter wait too long.

“I am ridiculously, madly, desperately in love with you. And I want you. If you'll have me, I. Want. You.”

This is a slow, slow burn with lots of back and forth. Hunter is an absolute saint for sticking around through all of this. Kennedy Fox wrote this so brilliantly. The slow burn and then months that pass throughout the duet make it more believable for Lennon to work through her grief and begin developing new feelings. This book was a wild emotional ride, very sweet, and full of angst. It destroyed my heart and made me fall in love with Hunter.

I've been waiting to read the Roommate Series because I knew they would all interconnect in some way. A small part of me wishes I would have started sooner BUT we made it. So worth the wait.

We start of with Hunter and Lennon. Tragedy strikes pretty hard in this book, early on. We get an opportunity to see their life BEFORE but the focus is more on the aftermath. The death of Hunter's best friend and Lennon's long time boyfriend destroys both of them in different ways. Lennon because she loved him and can't figure out how to move on. Hunter because he's always had feelings for her and now, all he can do is help hold her together.

The absolutely best build up in this duet is their relationship. Instant attraction move to Hate. Hate to a friendship built on a death close to both of them. To how do we survive knowing Lennon is carrying her dead boyfriend's baby? I FELT for Hunter, I really really did. I enjoyed Lennon but she was so blissfully unaware of Hunter's attraction for the longest time. But knowing that this was killing Hunter, but he did what Brandon would have wanted him too. He stepped up and took care of Lennon. Supported her, cared for her. Made sure that she could function again.

I liked the instant lust when they first meet. But in a weird, completely screwed up way, their build up is everything. I love them as friends. Their friendship is beautiful even though it was built from something tragic. I love them together. This in no way is an instant love story-- maybe the feelings were always there, but we are really going to have to see the characters work for it.

BTW, Cliffhanger warning. Be sure to have the second book ready!

My husband rides motorcycles. I worry every time he leaves on his. So this and your personal story hits home. Life is not always easy or fair, and telling those you love, that you love them when they leave or before bed or in the morning is just a wonderful and Blessed practice to have. In grief it is hard to remember it's one minute, one hour, one day at a time, but it's truly the only way through. Friends and family mean well, but they have to get on with their lives too and sometimes the grief hits when no one is around. Rough story, but so worth the read. Thank you for sharing your pain and talents.

Okay I won’t lie I do like how the book ends but I was frustrated for a bit of it. I’m not sure how hunters supposed to be best friend didn’t see what was going on with hunter or why he acted the way he did and well Lennon I wanted to shake the girl a time or two. Read the trigger warnings this book does contain sensitive subjects.

MY HEART IS NOT OKAY

okay there is a lo to unpack with this book. first off- this book is one of the most emotional books that i have ever read in my entire life thus far. i knew that this book would rip my heart out, but i was not expecting to feel the way it did. the pain that hunter feels from not being able to do anything about how he feels for lennon made my heart break. i loved how much brandon loved lennon but my heart was rooting for hunter the entire time. i easily could feel on why it was so hard for hunter to be friends with her. i really appreciated the way how hunter respected their relationship and never once tried to cross the boundary or shoot his shot. the journey that hunter and lennon have gone on makes you believe that there is hope even in the deepest grief. so excited to hop right into the next part of this book.

four and a half stars / one chili pepper

tropes:
- slow burn
- forced proximity
- surprise pregnancy
- forbidden
- single mom
- love triangle
-fake relationship

I don't mind cliffhangers, but do expect to have an element of closure, which isn't the case. Best to commit to reading both books.
Having said that, this is an intense read, with well formed characters. I would have preferred a shorter "enemies'" stage but the characters are likeable and you want a HEA for them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Addicting

After a missed connection that he continually regrets, Hunter is forced to watch his best friend (and roommate) live happily with the girl of his dreams, Lennon. Having the hero in love with the girlfriend of his best friend is not usually a romance trope I gravitate towards, but I absolutely loved this.

Considering Lennon is happily committed to her boyfriend, and Hunter insists on continuing his arrogance, I was eager to see how a relationship would evolve romantically between them. Within this trope, the boyfriend is typically awful, making it easy to cast him aside. It wasn’t that simple here, which I appreciate!

I didn’t read the synopsis before diving in, and I highly suggest you don’t either. I was not expecting the twist and turns that bring Lennon and Hunter together. It was an emotional read, but more on the lighter side that kept the humour at a constant flow.

I found myself completely entranced by this story in the second half. I couldn’t get enough of the forbidden tension between the growing friends. And that cliffhanger was a complete shocker! I’ve already purchased and starting reading book two, Baby Yours!

I totally loved it and can't wait to read the second book, especially because the end hit me by surprise and I need to know about a hopefully happy ever after for Hunter and Lennon.
