Baby, It's Cold Outside: A Holiday Bites Novel Kindle Edition

Marilee

Every holiday I closed the restaurant so my employees could be with their families. Every holiday I ate alone.

Not this year.

An idea came to me. I wanted a delicious Christmas meal and some conversation too. So, I sent an e-vite to our newsletter subscribers, explaining that I was hosting a Lonely Hearts Christmas Dinner. But I messed up, forgetting to limit the number of guests. Of course, I didn't expect more than a handful of people to be interested.

When I discovered my mistake fifty-seven people had RSVPed. I now had to figure out a menu for nearly sixty while thwarting a mini breakdown. What had I gotten myself into?

Girard

I wandered into Marilee’s office wondering what all the commotion was about. Our GM was a lot of things: Smart, funny, and exceedingly beautiful. What she wasn’t, what she’d never been, was prone to irrational freakouts. So when she told me she’d overbooked this little Lonely Hearts Christmas shindig she’d planned, I knew exactly what I needed to do. Offer my help. After all, I had no place to be on Christmas.

We spent hours crafting a menu, taste-testing new recipes, selecting the perfect wines, and reconfiguring seating to accommodate the large group while still making it feel homey. Banquet table. Lots of candles. Somehow all came together.

Something else came together too. I grew real feelings for Marilee and I suspected she had feelings for me. Now I had to make her own up to them. When things got hot in the kitchen, it made me decide, Marilee you got to stay with me, because baby, it’s cold outside.

Marilee is not going to be along for another Christmas. She takes care of her younger sister and brother and works hard. This year she invites people to her dinner for a Lonely Hearts Christmas Diner. When more people respond she freaks out. Girard her chef helps out and others join in. Marilee and Girard are attracted to each other. There were some spots that had me wondering but all in all it was a good feel good Christmas story or friendships and romance.

I received an ARC from the author thru Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving my review. You are invited to the Lonely Hearts Christmas Dinner, what is one more seat. Marilee decides that this year she will not spend Christmas alone. But when over 50 people accept to her little dinner, she panics. Girard wants to help out with everything. They have an attraction that grows the more time they spend getting this party planned out. Marilee has her hands full in more ways than one. They might not be spending any more holidays alone after this Christmas. I thought that the story and characters were good. There were some spots that seemed to not fit together. Overall not a bad story

This holiday story was decent, the plot worked and the characters had good chemistry. Certain aspects about the plot made me a little confused and caused me to have questions by the end. The ending wasn’t my favorite, it was too abrupt, leaving you hanging. The female had her own struggles making her seem to be too wishy washy at times. The male was a little bit full of himself, which made him seem a little too cocky at times. It wasn’t my favorite work but there were a number of aspects that made me not really care for it either.

I give this three out of five stars. There were some holes in the plot and the characters were a bit annoying at times.

I loved this beautiful Christmas romance. It is so wonderful written with the absolute best characters. Girard is so amazing in his patience and devotion!! Marilee has had a rough life but letting Girard in has opened her heart to so much happiness. I seriously loved this story and can’t wait to see what happens for them next. This is a series but this book does not end with a cliffhanger.

This story is a nice read, it is entertaining and it is nice to see the Marilee and Girard fall deeply in love with each other. However there are some holes in the story but even so it is a nice story to read.

This sweet little Christmas romance start out slow and a bit blah, but picked up speed around the thirty percent mark. I really enjoyed the dual POVs that worked for the storyline and romance between this sweet couple. Refreshing to see the male lead as a drool worthy hero without being a cheating, player badboy.
Marilee was sweetly awkward with her own hangups, but I really liked their interactions when it came to the kitchen and food. The storyline focused on Girard breaking down the high walls Marilee built up around herself as protection. I think the story and romance got better and better as their relationship grew.
All in all, an entertaining romance I'm glad I didn't pass up.

Marilee and Girard deserve this Happy Ever After in this wonderful Christmas read about love and family. The characters were so well written that I felt as though they were my friends and I was invited to sit at the dinner table. The downside of this story was the gaping plot holes, that even Santa and his sleigh can fall into. All in all a solid three and a half stars.
