EDIT: Figured out how to set the rgb, you can download the software for it from their website. Super lightweight and simple software.
Overall, the card looks and works great and is probably the best option in the $100 price range.
It is not the end all be all, it is no elgato, but if you want to experiment with capping professionally or only cap casually then it is the perfect item and price! It captures 1080p60 very well. There are some briefs stutters and such in intense moments but I think it's more so for me to refine in OBS via encoding and other tweaks.
It works very well in it's current state though, and even what I have now 'out of the box' is very acceptable, just not perfect.
But for $50 I don't expect it to be perfect. It does what it advertises very well and very plug and play. This would also be an amazing price to value for a first capture card for a curious youngin'.
I'm knocking down 1 star on the overall rating because the unit shipped with a defective HDMI cable. Not a big deal since I have tons of HDMI cables laying around, but the fact that I had to spend hours troubleshooting why I was getting intermittent black screens was pretty annoying. In hindsight, checking the cables should've been one of the first things to test, but the thing is that after tinkering with stuff, I went hours without black screens so I thought that ruled out the cables but guess not.....
I'm also giving it a 1/5 on the tech support side because technical documentation for this capture card is absolutely abysmal. EVGA doesn't even have a manual for this specific capture card on their site, they only have a manual for the older XR1 model and even that is just the same "quick guide" booklet they ship with the device, but it is pretty basic stuff. One of the coolest features that is not mentioned anywhere, is the fact that you DO NOT need to turn off HDCP on your PS5 to maintain passthrough, instead if you have HDCP enabled the capture card will simply disable the ability to capture video & audio. Pretty convenient when you still want to use your PS5 for Netflix, Spotify etc and can't be bothered to be swapping cables all the time, just toggle HDCP on / off as needed.
TL;DR: As long as you don't need help or have questions this capture card will not disappoint.
To say I was pleasantly surprised at the image quality would be an understatement. I have some experience with the Elgato HD60S and I have to say that this device either matches or exceeds the quality I experienced from that device.
Setup was simple enough that pretty much anyone with any amount of computer experience should be able to get it up and running in just a few minutes.
Absolutely recommend this device and I may be purchasing another soon for myself to replace my own failing HD60S.
As long as you know how to do that, then this device is as simple as it gets. You pass the HDMI through the XR1 fropm the console to the TV, plug the USB into your PC, Add a "Video Capture Device" in an OBS Scene, and tada, you can stream/record from console.
If you right click the properties on the XR1 Capture Device in OBS, you can set resolution and framerate in "Configure Video." You do need a little knowledge about what quality your console outputs, but you can also just set it and see what the preview looks like on OBS.
I was super pleased with how good the result looked. I recorded "Banjo Kazooie Nuts & Bolts" from my Xbox 360, and it looked fantastic! Worked great for my YouTube channel!

Setup was simple, plug in a few cables, and set it up as a new source with OBS, and bang, ready to go.
Haven't noticed any latency issues, while playing though my OBS preview, nor any audio quality loss either.
Haven't seen any quality loss during recording either, allowing for a smooth recording.
Did not test livestreaming quality though, so no input dor that.
It works straight out of the box.. and usage is very straigh forward.. ill compare it to obs only recording vs xr1pro obs recording..
