An Exceptional Saxophone for the Developing Player
Whether you’re a complete beginner or just returning to the sax, the BetterSax Alto Saxophone is a perfect choice. This incredible horn was forged from a unique partnership between Jay Metcalf of BetterSax fame and Conn-Selmer, one of the world’s leading instrument manufacturers. Together, they created a highly affordable saxophone that not only looks stunning, but sounds spectacular! And now, Sweetwater is proud to offer this astounding instrument to players of all levels. The BetterSax alto has a lightweight construction that allows it to vibrate freely, making it easy for any beginner to pick up and start playing right away. Along with that ease-of-playability, the BetterSax takes design cues from pro-model saxes, like the bore taper, neck design, blue steel springs, and Pisoni metal resonator pads. The result is a sax that produces a rich, sophisticated sound that students, teachers, and professionals alike will all enjoy.

Full-fledged features for developing players
The BetterSax alto saxophone comes with all the standard features a developing player needs. It's built with a post-to-body construction, making it lighter in weight and reducing resistance — this is especially important for anyone developing their sound, as you’ll want a horn that’s comfortable to hold, free blowing, and easy to play. The BetterSax alto saxophone also comes with a premium case that’ll protect your valuable instrument and store all the accessories you need. And with the addition of the high F# key and an adjustable thumb rest, you’ll have an instrument that will carry you well throughout your musical journey.
Professional look and feel
One of the first things you'll notice about the BetterSax alto is its striking look. Players will observe the dark cognac lacquer, giving off a vintage look. You’ll also spot the underslung octave key on the neck, which is inspired by vintage King saxophones as well as Elite Series Yanagisawa horns. But looks aren’t everything, which is why the BetterSax includes pro-level features that satisfy even demanding players. The bore is modeled after a top-level pro saxophone, giving it a rich, focused sound with super-tight intonation. Of course, none of that matters if the keys feel mushy under your fingers. That's why this sax is equipped with blue steel springs and Pisoni metal resonator pads, which add to the pro-level feel.
Backed by Conn-Selmer
The BetterSax alto saxophone was born from the unique partnership between Jay Metcalf and Conn-Selmer. It even brandishes the Bundy name, which hearkens back to the Selmer Company’s early days of manufacturing. Every BetterSax alto saxophone is made under strict supervision from Conn-Selmer, then set up and playtested by certified technicians at their headquarters in Elkhart, Indiana. After that, our Sweetwater technicians take each sax through our 40-point inspection process, ensuring you have the best-playing saxophone possible.
