INSTANT NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER
#1 WALL STREET JOURNAL BESTSELLER

Deadly operative Scot Harvath faces down democracy’s most powerful enemy in #1 New York Times and #1 Wall Street Journal bestselling author Brad Thor’s white-knuckle thriller.

High in the Himalayas, armed with a host of barbaric, improvised weapons, Chinese troops ambush a contingent of highly decorated Indian soldiers. The brutal, hand-to-hand combat lasts for over six hours, destabilizing the already tenuous relationship between the two nuclear neighbors.

Fearful of the global consequences of engaging Beijing head-on, countless United States administrations have passed the buck. But when a covert American diplomat tasked with negotiating an Asian version of NATO is murdered on the streets of Jaipur, doing nothing is no longer an option. It is time to unleash Scot Harvath.

Thrust into a completely unfamiliar culture, with few he can trust, the danger begins to mount the moment Harvath lands in India. Amidst multiple competing forces and a host of deadly agendas, it is nearly impossible to tell predator from prey. With democracy itself hanging in the balance, Harvath will risk everything to untangle the explosive plot and bring every bad actor to justice.

Scot Harvath is up to his usual antics in India

Scot Harvath is up to his usual antics in India
Scot Harvath is a great character his wit and skills are awesome. I really enjoyed this book as my anger and worry was felt in so many chapters.Very well written in the descriptions of India made it a tempting place to visit but clearly told the reader to stay out of the parts that had Scot doing his best work. But, if you are visiting from these descriptions, would you ever leave these hotels. The supporting cast of this book were mostly new Indian citizens. Their personalities fit in with Scot so well and in no way clashed. Almost like they were partners for many books. The Chinese involvement in these plots are very scary and the US plans are very reasonable.I look forward to the next Scot Harvath book but wouldn’t mind reading more Asha or Vija stories.

This was the best book that I have read in a long while!!! It was immediate action which propelled you into the spell of the story. I gobbled this book up in hours...once you begin reading it is impossible to put down!! Brad Thor is now my number one author. I also appreciated learning about India and some of their traditions because, prior to this book, I knew nothing about the country. Now I will be looking for more regarding India, Pakistan and the rest of the area. GREAT book, can't say it enough. Thank you, Mr. Thor.

This book does a very good job of explaining the likely real tension between China and India. It was quite enjoyable to read.

New locales (South Asia) and new alliances. A refreshing difference from past books, which seemed fixated on Muslim extremism or Russian expansionism.

Every day we are blessed with our sacred freedom that some are trying to take away. We must be vigilant every day to ensure our freedom remains secure. Thanks Brad Thor for educating us on how most other countries don’t cherish freedom that we have and Thanks to everyone who has paid the ultimate price for that freedom.

What can you say about a Brad Thor book? They just get better and better. If you enjoy a very good thriller, you can't go wrong with this series. The stories will all fall into place if you start with Book 1 and folow the series.

Love all the action scenes and how Brad Thor weaves multiple dramas together. However, Thor is getting a little verbose re unimportant side topics.

I am an avid reader of the Scot Harvath series. This is one of the poorer efforts. My gripes are all isolated issues that independently aren't a big deal but in the aggregate hurt this book. First, while I liked Asha as a character, there was far too much focus on her rather than on our hero. Second, I was disappointed how Thor handled the character of the top agent the Chinese sent to Nicholas' home. Thor has multiple paragraphs where the Chinese intelligence director mulls the consequences of unleashing the best, most terrifying asset in the Chinese secret service, but this asset is dispatched fairly easily by two random federal agents and Nicholas. Thor baits you into thinking that this guy and Scot are going to have some epic showdown, and that would have been awesome if this asset is as good as Thor says that he is. I don't understand why Thor builds this antagonist up only for him to go down so easily. If Thor intended him to meet his fate at Nicholas' home, just make him another random asset and don't have this build up that makes him sounds like he's on par with Scot. Third, the ending felt very rushed and left substantial meat on the bone. If Thor carries the loose ends into subsequent books, that's fine, but otherwise, the real masterminds behind the book's events aren't even known, let alone brought to justice, by the end. This is unsatisfying. Fourth, could we have gotten a little more background on why Scot feels personally invested in solving the mystery of the guy who is killed in the opening pages? There is reference to how Scot knows the guy and thinks he does good work for the U.S. but not much else. Yet Thor expressly says that this mission is personal to Scot. If that's the case, Thor should have given us more on these characters' background/history to help us understand why Scot feels that way. Otherwise, just have it be a mission like any other. But to have it be this weird middle ground between "just another mission" and being personal for Scot like how Thor did it feels half-baked. Finally, the title of the book is odd to me. The "Rising Tiger" is the nickname of an Indian politician who gets literally two lines of mention in the closing pages. Surely he cannot be the basis of the title? Again, maybe the India plot is carried over into later books and this politician will become an important character later on. I guess the title could also refer to India itself rising as a global power but that would be an odd artistic choice by Thor. I will still eagerly look forward next summer's release because I love the series overall but Thor has some ground to make up with the next book.

Terrific plotline. Fast paced and lucid. And the geopolitical setting really bought in intense action into the whole plot. Kudos to the writer for this excellent book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ein absolut direkter rasanter Einstieg ...
