    To say this started off with a bang is right on track!

    Dusty, a Pinkerton agent was riding in a stage with a young lady who would not stop talking so he could sleep. Unfortunately, a band of outlaws tried to hold them up and managed to kill everyone except him and the young lady. He was looking for the stolen diamonds and outlaws who had robbed a bank recently.

    She had inherited the bank from her deceased father, and after the bank had been robbed, she had to find her brother who would know what to do.

    Two people thrown together in the most unexpected way. Is it fate? A wonderful journey filled with mystery, suspense and a romance that just make make you sigh!

    The conflict at the beginning was great. I loved that Callie was a stronger and independent woman. She was also caring and loving making her an all around fun person to get to know. Dusty was a gruff, but smart guy, also fun to get to know. As the story progresses, the love of these characters, also increase. The twists, made heart breaks, but it was difficult to put down. A must read. !!

    This book was a great read. It had a lot of action and adventure. It is about a pinkerton detective who was hired to catch a diamond thief. Along the way he meets up with a lady who is in disguised trying to find her brother. Little do they know the whole investigation depends on them both working together.

    This was a fun start to a new series Gems of the West. The characters didn't get off to a good start as he thought she talked way too much and she felt that he was too rude. A stagecoach trip introduced them and having to protect themselves from a stagecoach robbery made them work together to stay alive.

    Pinkerton agent, Dusty Sloan and Miss Callie Beckman seemed to be thrown together after their stagecoach was attacked and the other people with them were killed. He was after the people who robbed the diamonds from a local bank. She was trying to discover who was behind a threat to her brother. When she finds out who he is, she is afraid to share the situation about her brother because she has been warned not to involve the law.

    As the two worked together to stay ahead of the people who were after the diamonds, Dusty starts to see the strengths that Callie had including her ability to outwit the people attacking them. A loner who doesn't think he wants to settle down may just change his mind as his protective streak is challenged to keep the lady safe.

    I enjoyed the story and the introduction of other characters that may be seen in upcoming books in the series.

    I received a copy of this book from the author and this is my honest unbiased review.

    Diamonds and Dust is a fun historical romance with mystery. Callie and Dusty make quite a team. First they aggravated each other, but then they learn grudging appreciation for each other's skills. Callie is searching for her kidnapped brother and Dusty is seeking stolen diamonds. Their paths keep crossing. This book kept me from doing anything except finishing it. I could not put it down. I had to see how the authors would wrap up all the plot lines. This is a very enjoyable book!
