I stroke the side of his head. "Please. Say something."
"I want to be good enough for you, Brenna."
"You are," I blurt out.
He shakes his head. "I'm not. I knew this the first moment I met you. I shouldn't have ever come after you."
"Don't say that!"
He briefly shuts his eyes. When he opens them, it frightens me.
Panic annihilates me until I'm nothing but a bare thread, trying to keep us together. "Finn, are you trying to break up with me?"
He scoots the barstool back so fast, it crashes to the floor. His fist wraps around my hair, and he dips his face over mine. "Do you think that's possible? That I could ever toss you back? That there's any chance in hell I could ever forget about you?"
"Then stop saying you're not good enough for me. I hate it when you talk like that."
"It's true."
"It's not. I chose you, Finn. You. No one else but you. If my parents can't give you a chance, then I don't care. I've already said my piece and made my choice. And if I had to do it again, I'd still choose you. So, if you want to go tomorrow, we will. But then it's over. Whatever happens, I'm walking out that door with you. Always. Forever." A tear streams down my cheek. "So stop doing this. I'm not going to let you do this."
"Brenna—"
"No! You don't get to let other people decide if you're what I need. I know you are. I decide who I love. So no matter what your mom or my parents say, I choose you, Finn O'Malley. Their opinion doesn't matter. You're all that matters to me."
He presses his forehead against mine, closing his eyes.
"Finn—"
"I don't want you to end up hating me, firefly. They're your parents."
I cup his cheeks, holding his head in front of mine. "They have their choices to make, and I have mine. I'm not leaving you. If they don't want to give you a chance, then that's on them. And I don't want to keep having this conversation. I won't allow them or anyone to come between us or disrespect you."

The culmination of 10 books, Mafia wars started with the Ivanovs and intertwined with the O'Malley's, ending with this story. Each book brought us deeper into this world Maggie created. This was an epic ending. Questions that were left unanswered were finally addressed.Finn and Brenna, were probably the most heartbreaking couple for me. 21 years lost for both, for different reasons, neither forgot and in the the previous books we saw glimpses of how hard Finn was searching. His anger was understandable and I wanted nothing but his happiness as his character grew and developed.Maggie outside herself with the series, the characters intertwine with each book and I recommend starting at the beginning but definitely recommend this series.

Finn O'Malley was a man that worked in the family business doing as he was told and trained to do. He had girlfriends, but nothing very serious. While he's out one night, he sees a beautiful girl that he can't seem to ignore. He knows she's too good for him, but the attraction and pull are too strong to ignore.... tragedy strikes and these two they will be separated for 20 years neither knowing what happened to the other, but that doesn't mean that their love has died. It seems to remain as strong as ever even after all that they've been through.

Brenna Doyle has just said no to the proposal from a man she's dated for 6 months. She knew it wasn't working out, for some reason he didn't see it or acknowledge that their relationship was one sided. Celebrating being single again, Brenna and her roommate go out to a fairly new club in town. Brenna is not ready for the man that comes over to introduce himself. When she finds out who he is she takes a step back but the pull to him is too strong and their life becomes complete when she finally gives in and seeks him out.

I loved the conclusion to The O'Malley Family (Mafia Wars series). Brenna and Finn had to go through so much to finally get their HEA, but their love never wavered. They had a strong connection and no matter what got in their way their love persevered. Tragedy, betrayal, and danger lurked everywhere for these two, but they finally got their HEA.

I loved the entire series, and Finn and Brenna's story was a great anticipated read ... the only bad thing was we as readers have to relive many events to get to the good ending ..... all in all a wonderful fab series.......great way to end the Chicago Mafia Wars series. I can't wait for the New York Mafia books to come out. Toxic looks to be a great read.

This 10 book series is gut wrenching, roller coaster, nail biting, end of your seat good. I could barely put it down. Id finish one book and be on to the next. Then by the time I took notice, I was on book 10, Finn's story. I see why the author left him for last. He to me was the glue that kept them all in line, together, regardless of what their last name was. Because the ties that bound them all, bought them together, and they became one big happy family, that had each other's back. To me Finn is the OG, he wasn't in charge or top dog. But his role in each of the others lives was very important. They all became brothers whether by blood or marriage and that meant something to them.

I can’t even tell you how sad I am this chapter of Maggie Coles Mafia Wars series is over 😢

I honestly didn’t think I could love a story or a couple more than another, but Finn & Brennas 2 decade long heartbreaking journey of love lost & redemption damn near BROKE me.

It is the most fitting end I could have hoped for to one of my absolute favourite series of all time. I was fanning myself right from the get-go at the pure certainty & primal possessiveness Finn has, the very second he lays eyes on Brenna 🥵……. Then came the tissues…. For all of the unfair injustices ……. Then there was more fanning, and yet more tissues, this time with a trembling lipped smile as my heart just about burst for a whole different reason.

I have loved every book in this series, but the way Maggie wrote this last one, it is abundantly clear that she has poured all of the love she has carried for these characters & this world into her words. It emanates off the page, right into me as I read.

And although she did a beautiful job of organically wrapping the series up and letting you know about all your favourite past characters, I feel bereft as I don’t want to be done with the Ivanovs & O’Malleys.

I’ve been so excited to read more about Finn and Brenna as soon as their story got introduced and this book DID NOT DISAPPOINT. It has every single thing I could ever want in a book. In previous books, some of the overlapping plot points got repetitive, even though they were told from different perspectives. I love how in this one, the overlapping plot wasn’t taking over this narrative, but rather adding to the rich backstories and emotions that really made me want to cry.

This is hands down my favourite Maggie Cole book to date and I cannot wait to read what she puts out next.
