Great screen, very clear text and bright for night reading. Pen is great and Ive had it nearly a year and havent needed to replace the pen battery yet.
Writing with this pen is acceptable. Noticeable lag but not unbearable. Much better experience in the notes app than in pdf's but my pdf's are thousands of pages so im forgiving there.
Dropbox integration was a pleasant surprise. Very easy to set up and even syncs when i make an edit to a pdf so the updated version is always in the cloud.
The bad
The battery is not impressive, I use it on the highest brightness and I usually have to charge every other day with heavier usage. Not the worst experience but I expected better from epaper screens. My old kindle would charge once a month.
The touch screen is janky, your finger presses is not registered where you touch, you have to tap multiple times to get to where you want to get to, especially for smaller UI elements like a menu dropdown arrow etc.
Slow cpu, although advertised a 1.8GHz cpu, to pull the pdf menu down can take 1-2 seconds after tapping. That combined with a janky touch screen is my biggest gripe.
Overall I am pleased with my purchase but, would I have known this is what I was getting, I would have waited for the kindle scribe.
Apparently the firmware is developed by engineers who do not use static analysis in their code. Why?
First, I noticed that every time you convert something it takes longer and longer time, which is probably a memory leak problem (easily caught by a static analysis tool). I suppose every time they call the subroutine they use heap memory but it is not freed completely. So, it causes that the reader eventually crashes, by a lack of memory or by accessing to some random memory.
I had two warnings before, first happened while trying to draw a single table, the Reader got stuck in an infinite loop that turned the screen black and white over and over, so I pressed the power on button to restart the Reader.
Second warning occurred while reading a book with images. When you click on an image it makes a kind of zoom that shows only the image and nothing else, so I wanted to exit that view mode, then the same happened, the black and white infinite loop
The third and fatal event happened while drawing a box with text inside, the same infinite loop, but then after power reset the Reader had done a factory reset, It had even a different firmware that had Dropbox on it, beta features like web browser and sudoku, I had to reconfigure the Reader but every note was lost. EVERYTHING!!!
Tried to recover but nothing worked, you can restore your books, but not your notes which are the most important thing.
After a while the unit got again to the same firmware I had, which means is the latest, this newest version lacks of a lot of functionality compared to the old one, is slower and as I said, with bugs,
Make yourself a favor and avoid loosing your valuable information. It is completely unacceptable that they released a firmware with such risk of loosing everything you wrote.
Besides there are lot of other minor errors, that you simply cannot believe they missed them while testing (if they even test before releasing)
The firmware I am referring to is 4.34.20097 released on Sept 15th 2022.

For the price and everything that is included, I'm pretty happy with this.
- buona dotazione di serie e buona qualità generale
- durata batteria stratosferica
