Christopher Nuttall has been planning sci-fi books since he learned to read. Born and raised in Edinburgh, Chris created an alternate history website and eventually graduated to writing full-sized novels. As an indie author, he has published fifty novels and one novella (so far) through Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing.

Professionally, he has published The Royal Sorceress, Bookworm, A Life Less Ordinary, Sufficiently Advanced Technology, The Royal Sorceress II: The Great Game and Bookworm II: The Very Ugly Duckling with Elsewhen Press, and Schooled in Magic through Twilight Times Books.

Nuttall does it again, another interesting and well woven story. Anyone familiar with the main character, Emily, will like how quickly she is wrapped in events and moves within the developing story. As a long time follower of the series, several of the turns and twists surprised me as I had some investment in several characters whose lives have changed in dramatic ways. It will be interesting to see how Nuttall wraps the story up in concluding this enjoyable series. He controls the story development yet never loses control of where he is going. Also readers don’t get lost in a pointless sea of random character names that don’t add much flavor to the world he has created. I will be sorry when things are wrapped up N number of books from now and this world becomes “history”.

I highly recommend the series to anyone who enjoys seeing a character grow and develop along with the story arc....

Note - this is spoiler free.
As usual the latest in the excellent Schooled in Magic series doesn’t disappoint. Although the first half of the book concentrates more on the politics and ethics of the world the author has carefully built over the series, the second half ups the action in a way that makes it worthwhile. To his credit, Nuttall makes the reveals that have been sown in previous books and the actions his characters take believable. I even felt a measure of understanding or sympathy for some of the antagonists....a testament to the dimensional that each character has been given.

If you are expecting cardboard cut out villains, look elsewhere. The actions taken by both the protagonist and her enemies are believable and true to their character, which makes the end of the book both shocking and satisfying. It also sets up what will likely be one hell of a ride in the books to come.

How good is this book? I can answer this by saying I emphatically do not want to see this series end. Not after 24 books, probably not after 30 books. That good.

Christopher is an excellent author. He keeps my interest and this book had an unexpected twist! No spoilers from me. I recently sent one of my daughters the first book in this series. She loved it and quickly devoured the first three books. I am looking forward to the next book! I don't like short stories or standalone books, I prefer series, long series. This is a fabulous series. Maybe one day they'll make some of it into a movie!

I have enjoyed this entire series, until now. There has been a constant struggle between power and morality throughout the series, and the reward of finding good solutions. But this latest book was upsetting. The transition from morality to outrage to mob action should be a warning to us all. And it begs the question, how best to balance (oppose) the lust for power with the rights of individuals to live free and productive lives. Have the protagonists discovered the best solution? Does their solution ring true in our world today? I fear that the can of worms has but begun to open.

Very early in this series an unknown hand was manipulating events. I had my ideas on who it was but I'm not going to spoil it. Allow me just to say it wasn't my first suspect. Or one that I was hoping it wasn't. There was so many different ways to take this unknown character it seems a little too simple to be the one it turned out to be.

I will also say my first suspect was Barb. I thought it a little too convenient that she knew Master Grey had an association with Ashworth and did nothing to prevent his admission as an instructor at Whitehall. There were other things Barb did that kept me thinking she was the one. But...

Overall, this last part of an amazing series was a very good read.

The magical story line is a very good one and keeps coming up with surprises and twists. Unfortunately, there is entirely too much space devoted to what-if thoughts, and too many instances where the same thoughts are repeated over and over again, often multiple times in one book. I guess that is an attempt to make each book somewhat stand alone while telling a continuous story. For me it does not work well and I find myself skipping many paragraphs without ever feeling I've lost the flow.

That said, I do look forward to the next book.

This book had more twists then a lot of the ones in the series. It was a well written book and I enjoyed reading it. The only regret is nearly all of them happen in the last 10% of the book. There was too many too fast. Still read it you will likely not see the main twist happening.

This is a very plausible arc ending to this story. I myself have thought of about 3 other ways it could have went. Your way through is very " Satisfying?". Im sad for her possible upcoming loss, but what did you expect the most powerful single being in their reality to do. How long was a man with compassion to put up with the worlds B.S.. Yet what Emily says is true. No one man can rule a world. Not for long. And it will certainly tear itself apart after he is gone.

Started with a fast pace then seemed to slow in the middle third as Emily took up a new problem only to pick up in the last third such that I didn’t want to stop reading. Now can’t wait for it to continue in “The Face of the Enemy”.

Emily will be the doom of my marriage. Told wife I would clean the house and do other chores but I saw Crhistopher juste released The Right Side of History, clicked once to buy, and of course, I could not resist... So I did... absolutely nothing save read the latest and terrific adventures of fair Emily, and read on and read on till 7AM. No spoil. I found out the heart of the plot soon enought by how, why, what ? Nooooo not that! Thanks to M. Nuttall who can dispell the gloom of everyday work and make us dream.
