Trusting You: A Grumpy Boss Romance (The Quinn Brothers Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.3 4.3 out of 5 stars 703 ratings

I’m broke, single, rocking my last decent pair of underwear, and sleeping in my childhood bedroom.

That’s where the embarrassment ends, right?

Wrong.

My meddling mother forces me into a job interview at a local brewery that involves serving beer while wearing lederhosen.

Liam Quinn, my grumpy, bearded boss, is struggling to save his business, and he needs my help.

We strike a deal. I’ll help out for a few months, and then I’m hightailing it out of this small town.

But soon, there’s more than beer brewing between us, and I find myself mesmerized by his strong hands and broad shoulders.

And when an unexpected kiss changes everything, I realize I might not be able to leave my hometown behind.

Author’s Note: Trusting You is a full-length standalone steamy small-town romance. It features a headstrong heroine, a grumpy brewer, found family, and a delicious slow burn. It may also contain nautical beer puns, seasonal decorative gourds, and small-town shenanigans.

Welcome to Havenport, Massachusetts, where the beer is cold and the men are hot. Come for the ocean breeze and town festivals, stay for the panty-melting happily ever afters.

I love Liam and Cece so much!
The more books I read by the gorgeously talented Daphne, the more I fall in love with the communities and feel good storylines she creates.Cecelia is a woman who goes back to her roots to figure out what she wants to do with her life and career. I connected with Cece from the very start, tired of the hustle and swimming with the sharks in the corporate world - yet this beautiful soul truly never lost her light. She’s smart, creative, funny and true ball buster and I adore her so much.Liam is a man with a ton on his plate, yet he won my heart with the way he always makes time his family (no matter how frustrating they may be) and how he is determined to make things works. He may be a bit of a control freak, but this man has a huge heart and when he loves, he loves with his entire being and knows how to grovel and be patient when he messes up.Daphne has created another town I want to move to and characters that are unique, charming and lovable. I adore Cece and Liam so much - their instant friendship, respect and chemistry won my interest but their growth and love won my heart. This talented author has this fantastic ability to create characters that leap off the pages, to end up getting cozy in your heart and the proof is within this story. I laughed, teared up, yelled, laughed some more, swooned and didn’t want to leave. I can’t wait to read Declan’s story!

This was a perfect book for fall. It had all the fall vibes with festivals and was centered around a brewery. I loved the lighthearted romance between two people claiming they didn’t want a relationship. It was a great start to this series and a great debut novel for this author.

Cece returned home to her small town in Massachusetts to reevaluate her life. She never meant to stay, but she really found herself back in her home town. She reluctantly started working at the local brewery and quickly fell for her boss. There was a lot of back and forth between them, and they both had insecurities and past experiences to get over.

Liam had been running his own brewery for a few years and while he was a great beer brewer, he needed help with marketing and expansion to grow his business. He’d been burned before so he was hesitant to ask for help but Cece bulldozed her way into his life and completely changed everything.

I loved the relationship between the three Quinn brothers and Trent, Liam’s best friend. They were so fun and supportive of each other. I also loved Cece’s budding relationship with each of them. They made a great core group to build a series around and I can’t wait to read their stories.

Adorable story and so looking forward to Declan’s story next.

I had the pleasure of being a beta reader for this book and it is amazing! Daphne Elliot had an amazing ability to describe a world so clear that you can picture yourself in it. From the town to the characters she makes everything jump off the page. I cannot believe this is her debut novel!

Liam and Cece are so perfect together! Liam’s serious and dogmatic approach to life and business is keeping him from experiencing life to the fullest until Cece comes in and opens his eyes. This is a sweet and spicy story of two people who aren’t looking for each other but realize that they make each other better! I loved this book! I loved Havenport and I cannot wait for future books from this author!!

For a debut novel by Daphne Elliot, this is a sweet contemporary romance about Liam Quinn and Cecilia (CeCe) Leary, who have reconnected after she moved away years ago and has returned home after being laid off from her job, dumped by her boyfriend, and unable to pay her rent. She grew up with Liam in Havenport, where their mothers were good friends. She never expected to fall for Liam, and he for sure never intended on falling for CeCe. As she helps him with his brewery, he finds CeCe irresistible and realizes how much he needs her in his life permanently. There is definite growth in both Liam and CeCe throughout the book, which I feel is necessary to be a wonderful romance. There is also just the right amount of heat between these two. Again, I really liked this introduction to Daphne Elliot and her Havenport series, and look forward to reading the upcoming books.

Cecilia and Liam's story will leave you with massive heart eyes! Both of these characters are guarded, building sky high walls in order to keep themselves and their hearts safe. But when Cecilia returns to Havenport after being gone for over a decade things get interesting.

Daphne weaved this story so eloquent, the characters growing and adapting to the curve balls thrown at them. Loved it and I can't wait to dig into the next one!

Trusting You is book one on Havenport Series of small town romance. Cece, a marketing whiz, leaves her city life behind after a layoff and moves back with her mom in a quirky small town in New England. She wants this time to think and rediscover herself, but destiny has other ideas and she meets the handsome, brooding brewer, Liam, who’s trying hard to grow his business and make his brewery thrive.

Cece is a marketing expert, full of ideas, not to mention fun, sarcastic and takes cr*p from no one. Liam is the hardworking kinda guy, a bit stubborn, and thinks he doesn’t need help to make his business soar. Their chemistry is intense, scorching hot from their first encounter, and their relationship fun and steamy.

I was delighted about the settings of a brewery. I enjoy a good crafty beer and also know a bit about the art of making a good one. There’s a great small brewery close to my town, and I just wished I could visit Havenport one!

Liam’s relationship with his two older brothers was worth lots of laughs, and we could see a glimpse of their personalities and what to expect for their stories, and Cece and Liam’s mom helping them be together in the background was priceless.

The story had a tidbit of too much description of the town and people living in it, talking about some trivial facts that the reader wouldn't miss if they weren't there, slowing the pace in some chapters, but the sizzling hot romance between Cece and Liam, the fun way it was pictured his family, and so welcoming town, makes the read AMAZING.

I loved this book from begin to ending, and I can’t wait to read what happens to Liam’s brothers. My bet is that Declan with his lonely, cranky attitude will be the naughtiest one. If you like small town romance, a beautiful couple with lots of chemistry and sexy moments, and a delightful town as background, you just found your next read!

    4.5 stars 🌟

Liam's struggling brewery is all he can think about. But boy is he stubborn when it comes to asking for help. Thank goodness for his meddling mum (and I mean that in the sweetest way) because when Cecelia arrives back in town after losing her job and ending her very average relationship, Mrs. Quinn suggests that Cece help out at the brewery.

Cece and Liam are old acquintances, having grown up together, but it's been years since they've seen each other. And they've both grown up well... if you know what I mean 😏

There's an instant attraction between Cece and Liam but they're both focused on their careers and neither is looking for a relationship. Of course, the more time they spend together at the brewery, the more the tension grows. And the chemistry between them is hot!

This book was almost perfect but I found myself getting frustrated with Cece and Liam's stubbornness about their feelings for each other. Just as they get to a point of having it all, one or both of them would pull away. Having said that, I was expecting a sweet, small town romance, which this was, but I was not expecting to laugh as much as I did. The banter between the Quinn brothers - Liam, Callum, and Declan - was HILARIOUS! And Nora, Cece's bestie, is the type of friend every girl needs. My favourite line from Nora: "I would not touch that jerk with a rented vagina." 😂😂😂

Bravo to Daphne for creating a story with stunning characters. Like seriously, every character in the book was there for a reason and I felt like I was watching a TV series.

I cannot wait to read the other books in this series. Grumpy Declan is going to steal my heart I just know it! But for now, although I loved Liam, I'm team Callum all the way.

It's safe to say all the other Havenport books are on my TBR. If you enjoy steamy, small town romances then Daphne is the author for you.

"This place is crazy, but it's my kind of crazy."

This is a small-town, friends-to-lovers contemporary romance with an amazing plotline, as well as amazing side characters.

Cece is back in her hometown of Havenport, to take a break after getting fired from her corporate job and after breaking up with her douchey boyfriend. She's in dire need of some self-confidence and work which she actually likes. She finds all that and more when she joins as a marketing and PR executive at a local brewery.

Liam is the owner of said brewery.. he's in dire need of a marketing and PR executive because he needs to publicise his brand more, to get enough revenue to keep his brewery afloat. His beer is great.. it's just that he has zero clue on how to market it further. And oh, he's also so wary of trusting others, that he refuses to accept any help at all. That is, until Cece comes in and practically demands the job.

I finished this one yesterday, I swear I felt more energetic at the end, the effort that the MCs put into making their small business successful was extremely inspiring.

I loved the individual growth both the MCs had, and also their journey from mistrustful allies to close friends to lovers - a very wholesome arc.
Not to forget the side characters - they had delightful plotlines which all enriched the main story. I can't wait to start book 2! ❤️

What a debut! I firstly want to say how much I really enjoyed Daphne's writing style. For me, the writing style is really important to keep me engaged and I was hooked from page 1!

Moving right along to characters, Liam and Cecelia were such great character, well developed, and the chemistry between them is positively sizzling.

I don't want to give too much away so all that's left to say is this:
If you love small town romances, slow burn, forced proximity, great characters, fantastic writing, and steam that will have you fanning yourself like a sinner in church, then Daphne Elliot is your girl.
