The Scot is Hers (Scots of Honor Book 2) Kindle Edition

4.6 4.6 out of 5 stars 447 ratings

Highland war heroes rebuilding their lives grapple with ladies forging their own paths—who will win?

Regency Scotland comes alive in the vibrant and sexy new SCOTS OF HONOR series by USA Today bestselling author Eliza Knight. Scottish military heroes, who want nothing more than to lay low after the ravages of war in 19th century France, find their Highland homecomings vastly contradict their simple desires. Especially when they meet the feisty lasses who are tenacious enough to take them on, and show them just what they’ve been missing out of life. In battle they can’t be beaten, but in love, they all find the ultimate surrender.

When General Alec Hay, the Earl of Errol returns from war, his mother is determined to see him wed. Once known for his dark good looks, Alec now bears a scar over half his face that makes every potential bride cringe. He wants only to escape into the darkest room in his ruined castle and relive the harrowing moments in battle when he couldn’t save his friend. Ignoring his demands to be left alone, his mother throws a rousing house party at her Edinburgh estate. Unable to take another setup for flirtation, he rides his horse out onto their property and becomes stuck in some ruins during a torrential downpour.

Lady Giselle Hepburn, an impulsive lass, rides out from a neighboring estate in the same storm, attempting to escape her family and a forced marriage to a man with a vicious dark side. She falls off her horse and nearly tumbles over a cliff but is saved by a handsome, mysterious Highlander. With a twisted ankle, and the weather too dangerous to attempt riding, Giselle agrees to wait out the storm with the stranger.

To Alec’s shock, Giselle is the first woman who doesn’t shy away from his scar and treats him like a man rather than a hideous barbarian. As the storm rages through the night, they each confess their meddling family’s determination to see them wed——and he learns her intended is his greatest enemy. Alec insists that she accompany him back to his house to convalesce, where he presents her with a solution to both of their problems: —what if they wed each other in secret? Could a marriage of convenience free them both from their unwanted troubles, or will love be an incredibly inconvenient development?

Eliza Knight is an award winning, USA Today and international bestselling author. Her love of history began as a young girl when she traipsed the halls of Versailles and ran through the fields in Southern France. She can still remember standing before the great golden palace, and imagining what life must have been like. Growing up in the Washington, D.C. area, her weekends were filled with visits to museums, and historical reenactments. Escape into history for courageous heroines, irresistible heroes and daring escapades. Join Eliza (sometimes as E.) on riveting historical journeys that cross landscapes around the world. She is a member of the Historical Novel Society and Novelists, Inc., the creator of the popular historical blog, History Undressed, a co-host on the History, Books and Wine podcast and a co-host for the true crime podcast, Crime Feast.

While not reading, writing or researching for her latest book, she tries to keep up with her three not-so-little children. In her spare time (if there is such a thing…) she likes daydreaming, wine-tasting, traveling, hiking, staring at the stars, watching movies, shopping and visiting with family and friends. She lives atop a small mountain with her own knight in shining armor, three princesses, two very naughty Newfies, and a turtle named Fish.

Look for STARRING ADELE ASTAIRE a story full of glitz and glam, delving into the life of Adele Astaire, a spirited and talented woman who served up smiles and love both on and off the stage—with and without her also famous brother Fred Astaire— along with a determined young dancer with rags-to-riches dreams. Coming in June 2024, THE QUEEN'S FAITHFUL COMPANION.

I really enjoyed the story of Alec and Giselle - two people avoiding their plotting mothers and their dismal prospects for marriage. The setting was spectacular - Scotland 1816 roughly. The plot has been rehashed a lot already but has touches of beauty and the beast (though a twist), marriage of convenience, heroine on the run, war/scarred hero, and obsessive villain, all things I enjoy in general.

I loved how Alec and Giselle met, how they found each other again, that they communicate directly, that they solve their problems as a team and actually argue like real people. Very refreshing. As far as romance novels of the genre go, this one is 5 stars. It avoids all the frustrating tropes and focuses on realistic love forming between two people. I also enjoyed that there is a clear distinction in this one between lust/chemistry (insta-love) and actual love. It's clear the hero and heroine are drawn to each other mentally/physically within seconds of meeting, but they both clearly understand that love is a different thing all together. They become friends, which is enjoyable, and it seems they are willing to have at least chemistry, considering their options, but might both enjoy actual love as a possibility along the way.

Bravo! Although their plotline is not super original, the approach is. This was like a breath of fresh air and I loved the whole journey. I could have hung out in their world for another 100 pages.

Romantic and witty. I enjoyed the characters and the trope. I look forward to the next book in the series.

Be still my heart, my favourite type of regency romance. A damaged scarred hero with a heart of gold, and a heroine who is feisty and sees past it all to the man behind the scars. Passionate, sexy and romantic, this story had me hooked from the very first pages. The beast of Errol and Giselle are swoon worthy and yearn for each other, all they have to do is believe in each other and let love lead the way.

Giselle meets Alec at a party in the dark garden. She is trying to escape the frivolity of narrow minded people and so is he. Since Alec has a scar on his face from the war, he is looked on in a reviling way. Giselle doesn't look at him that way.

I love her sense of humor and sarcasm. Giselle makes an impression on Alec and vice versa, however, they don't see each other for a couple years.

Actually, we meet Giselle in the previous book in this series. That was a great book also. But they both can be read as a stand alone.

Giselle's parents betrothe her to a terrible man. She tries talking to them but they won't listen. So, she runs away...at night...in a rain storm....and almost loses her life. Here is where Alec comes in to save her life. And it goes from there...interfering parents, friends, duels.....great story.

Eh! It was ok. Very predictable. Nothing exciting really. Very pleasant and polite. Good writing, ok story. Just ok. Kind of like marriage 20 years down the road. It’s ok. Kind of like eating chocolate pudding, it’s yummy but you’ve had it so much tht something is missing but you can’t put your finger on it.

Running away from the man her parents chosen her to marry, he is horrible she falls from her horse and is hanging from the cliff when Alex helps her to safety. They wait out the storm in the ruins. A flash of lightning shows the scars across his face he waits for her scream but it does not come instead she says I know you. He ask we have met. She tells him she was the lass he met 3 years before in the garden. He had thought of her often, has she was the only woman who treated him well not flinching from the scars on his face. Alex enjoys this short time together and invited her to stay at his castle where his mother has invaded with aload of ladies all looking to marry him. He knows all there interested in his is title and fortune. So comes up with a plan she needs a new groom and him a bride so they announce there marriage. Lady Mary has been trying to trap Alex and had warned all the ladies off is not happy and will do all she can to break them up but the more time Alex spends with his betrothed the more his and her feelings change from friendship to love. But they have his mother her parents her gilted and lady Mary to deal with before they can have there happy ever after. Alex will do all he can to keep his woman safe and his. She is the only woman who has seen the real him and truly loved him back. I loved this book and was happy to see that there where two more books about his friends. You will enjoy this book beginning to end. Wonderfully written.
