4.3 4.3 out of 5 stars 3,479 ratings

Below Deck meets Billionaire Romance in this fresh and captivating romance set on a megayacht in the Mediterranean...

My boyfriend’s billionaire boss always gets what he wants.

Menacingly handsome and unquestionably powerful, Theo Whitman need only snap his fingers to have a flock of supermodels fall at his feet. So when his steel gray eyes first meet mine, I expect him to pass right over me, to not give so much as a second thought to my presence.

Instead, he sees me.
Truly sees me.
And for a girl who prefers to hide behind her camera lens, it’s the most unnerving experience of my life.

Until he asks me to stay on his yacht for the summer.

All I have to do to earn my keep is be Theo’s on-call photographer when he has guests, and I’ll get a free ride through the Mediterranean with my boyfriend. Easy peasy.

Still, my skin prickles in warning when I say yes. As the humid days fade into balmy nights, I can’t seem to avoid Theo. And when he finds me, it’s like a rabbit running into a wolf.

His intense gaze immobilizes me.
The way he speaks strips me bare.
Every brush of his skin sears me like a violent flame.

My boyfriend’s billionaire boss always gets what he wants.
And this time, I think he wants me.

Kandi Steiner is a #1 Amazon Bestselling Author and whiskey connoisseur living in Tennessee. Best known for writing “emotional rollercoaster” stories, she loves bringing flawed characters to life and writing about real, raw romance — in all its forms. No two Kandi Steiner books are the same, and if you’re a lover of angsty, emotional, and inspirational reads, she’s your gal.

An alumna of the University of Central Florida, Kandi graduated with a double major in Creative Writing and Advertising/PR with a minor in Women’s Studies. Her love for writing started at the ripe age of 10, and in 6th grade, she wrote and edited her own newspaper and distributed to her classmates. Eventually, the principal caught on and the newspaper was quickly halted, though Kandi tried fighting for her “freedom of press.”

She took particular interest in writing romance after college, as she has always been a die hard hopeless romantic, and likes to highlight all the challenges of love as well as the triumphs.

When Kandi isn’t writing, you can find her reading books of all kinds, planning her next adventure, or pole dancing (yes, you read that right). She enjoys live music, traveling, hiking, yoga, playing with her fur babies and soaking up the sweetness of life.

Love this Age-Gap and I swooned for this Alpha Billionaire
🛳Age-Gap🛳Billionaire Romance.“I’m growing tired of this game, Aspen.”“What game?”“The one where you pretend like you don’t want me...And I pretend like you’re not already mine.”.Review: I have been wanting to read this book ever since it came out. I am always drawn to pretty covers. The blurb sounded good, but I was a little weary of possible cheating as I'm not a fan of it. This book turned out just fine and I really enjoyed it! It is single POV, which I generally struggle with, but Kandi does really well with single POV..Aspen is a photographer planning to travel around Europe and take photos for her portfolio while her boyfriend works on a yacht for the next few months..Theo is a Billionaire and is getting ready to set off on his yacht for business meetings along the Mediterranean..Aspen meets Theo on his yacht where she is leaving her boyfriend for the summer. Theo is instantly intrigued by Aspen and offers her the opportunity of lifetime on his yacht. As they work together and continue to get to know each other, they both feel the undeniable pull between them. I loved these two. Theo could truly see Aspen and not the front she put on for others. I love that he cared, wanted to get to know her better and help her. I could relate so much to Aspen, as a photographer and as someone who struggles like she does, it pulled on my heartstrings. So much wisdom, which I am finding in Kandi's books, and truly loving. I feel like I am learning how to improve my life through her words. Kandi does such a beautiful job explaining the scene that you feel like you are there. I shed a few tears and swooned so hard. Theo is an absolute dream and is respectful. I worried he was going to be going after Aspen dead set to steal her away, but that was not the case. I definitely fell for Theo and want to steal him. I listened to the Audiobook by Hannah Chiclana. This was my first by her and after the first chapter I was completely sucked in. I really enjoyed this one.

"We're all the center of our own universes. We're told not to be selfish, not to put ourselves first, but if not us, then who?"

Close Quarters is Kandi Steiner at her best!
The angst. The sizzling sexual tension. Characters you will love AND hate. The visual scenery. The words that absolutely devour our beings. Theo. Enough said!

Well, well, well. First, I'll say that I'm not a huge fan of billionaire romance. You're going to have to do something different or sweep me off my damn feet in some sort of way. But Kandi frickin Steiner brought it! Ms Steiner wasn't playing! Not only did she go for billionaire romance, she was going to add in a love triangle? I went in slowly and very tentatively because I was afraid that this book just wouldn't be for me. BUT I should know that Kandi don't play that. She swept me off my feet with the storytelling and the characters and I am so glad that I gave this book a chance.

Aspen Dawn has recently graduated and is set to travel around Europe by herself taking photographs. It's been her dream to do this forever. She is an introvert and this time to travel alone and see places on her bucket list is something she's been looking forward to. Her boyfriend Joel takes a job on a Super Yacht that is owned by billionaire, Theo Whitman. When Theo notices Aspen taking his photo, he offers her a job to take photos for him and in exchange she gets to travel around the Mediterranean for free on his yacht. Although she won't be alone like she has desired, she will be with her boyfriend and that is something that appeals to both of them. And this is where our story and the angst begins.

The first part I fell in love with was the travel and the way I got to see the places the crew on the yacht traveled to. I could see everything through Aspen's lens (theoretically and literally since this story is told all from her POV). I liked getting her introvert perspective, but it really made me dislike Joel more and more as the story went on. And other members of the crew too. There was obviously a big disconnect not only in our couple, but in the people that worked on the yacht. The partiers and the ones there to work and enjoy what they were given. Joel was a partier; Aspen, not so much. You could feel their relationship slowly unravel until it became something ugly. But while one relationship was crashing, another was burning. You could feel the sizzling sexual tension between Theo and Aspen begin. I could taste it coming right off the pages. I could feel it in my chest. It was painful yet beautiful and carnal. But they built a friendship and saw each other more deeply than anyone else ever had. I absolutely loved seeing what they had develop, even if it was at the detriment of another relationship.

"Do you want to know what I thought the first time I saw you?"...."Mine."

This isn't really a story of a love triangle, but more a story of self discovery and want. Close Quarters has the feels, the angst, the romance and even a side of suspense. We feel all those things, but it's also a slow burn where your book or your kindle is slowly simmering until it explodes with a boil that goes over. And that is Theo. He may have the money to do anything he wants, but it's his grand gestures that were a step above and meaningful. Can I get a Theo for myself??

I am so glad I took a chance on a book that I questioned. It wasn't what I expected and also so much more. It moved at a comfortable pace for the relationship(s) and for all the travel taking place. I wish I would've gotten Theo (and don't hate me, but maybe Joel's) POV to understand them more, but it didn't take away from all the emotions and life that Aspen was going through. I LOVED this book and loved seeing the characters grow from the beginning to end. It was a whirlwind of emotions for me and kept me turning those pages. The scenery was beautiful and man oh man, do I want to have the chance to travel on a super yacht like this one. For now, this book will have to do! 4.5 stars!

I originally read this when it was released, but recently decided on a re-read and discovered I had not reviewed it. I found that I loved it even more the second time around!

I didn’t really know what to expect or how things would turn out when I first began and that kept me turning the page. Aspen is shy and introverted and immediately likable. I even really liked her with Joel (in the beginning) with made me nervous because I didn’t want to read about cheating. There were a couple instances that were borderline inappropriate between her and Theo and once that yes, definitely crosses the line. However, by that point the author had me so invested that I could justify it. The storyline evolves organically though, and I felt kindred with Aspen’s feelings.
I usually prefer most romances to be duel point of view and yes, there were times I wish I could have been in Theo’s head. However, this worked out best in single point of view because being in his head would have given too much of the storyline away.
Overall great read with a tad bit of taboo and a hint of suspense.

Spoiler alert: This review may contain spoilers. She is on the boat with her boyfriend just to see him off when the owner and mmc see her and insists they join him for dinner. While at dinner he offers her a job which will allow her to travel and take the pictures she loves.

It seems like it’s instalove for him, accept he has very questionable guest come on board and at one stop he has a threesome. To me it creepy and cheating especially on her part because is falling in love with mmc while still having spicy time with her boyfriend of 4 yrs. Plus her boyfriend seems to have been cheating on her the past 4 years with the other crew members, especially ivy.

Mmc comment about love yourself in narcissistic way was so cringe worthy that i actually was uncomfortable reading it. Especially when he talks like he did something he was not fond of to please a woman.

One of many of the worst lines in a book is she wakes up and says “don’t look at me i must look awful”! Yes it is in this book as just the worst.

A really tacky thing about this book is it is over 60% of the way through the book before her boyfriend breaks up with her. That’s right, he breaks up with her not her breaking up with him after he fondles another women’s breasts infront of her and she grabs his p!

The spicy in this book is maybe a 2 chili pepper and does not come in until about 70% of the way through the book. They are only in relationship for like a week and saying i love you and two weeks before he is asking her to marry him. It gets chestier and you get to the end.

I really can’t recommend this book.

Wow! That’s the first word that comes to mind when I think about Close Quarters! This magnificent story is how romance novels should be like! I was enraptured by this forbidden love story where powerful feelings are flowing across the pages! I have enjoyed every book from Kandi Steiner I’ve read in the last few years, but none could dislodge A Love Letter to Whiskey from my top favorite spot. I can gladly declare that Close Quarters is of the same caliber and own my heart!

When Aspen accepts Theo’s invitation to spend the summer on his yacht taking photographs for him, she thinks she’ll get more time with her boyfriend Joel who’s working for the billionaire. Her summer soon turns sour when her boyfriend’s only desire is to party with his crew after his working hours. She’s reserved and an introvert, so she doesn’t feel comfortable socializing everyday. There’s friction and miscommunication between the young couple and Aspen starts to feel lonely. Her only true moments of happiness are shared with Theo, capturing the gorgeous cities on the coast of the Mediterranean Sea through her camera lens. Those two forge a beautiful friendship that slowly evolves into so much more. He truly cherishes her and it’s so exquisite to watch them interact. Their romance had my heart beating so fast in my chest!

Theo Whitman is a hero I won’t forget anytime soon. He’s the whole package with his charisma, dominance, thoughtfulness! I can’t find enough words to describe this man. I was enamored by him instantly. This billionaire is so down to earth and a good man! He’s drawn to Aspen from their first meeting and treats her with so much care. He’s very protective and determined to make her his even if she’s in a relationship. He would do anything to get the young woman, but he doesn’t play dirty by any means. He only shows her that she’s special and worthy.

Close Quarters is hands down one of my favorite read this year! This romance was a magical adventure where I felt so much and the little suspense integrated made this read perfect!

Ngl, at first I was really into the story. I connected with the characters from the very beginning and the angst was everything. But once the main conflict is solved, I felt the story was rushed and too unreal to connect with Aspen and Theo as a couple.

But overall, the plot and writting are pretty solid and the story entertained enough to keep your interest.

I couldn’t believe what I just read, it actually blew my mind.
Normally I shy away from slow burn romance, but this one just captured my heart and I couldn’t stop reading!♥️

Aspen and Theo were such a wonderful couple, but certainly not without their problems!
The chemistry was explosive, KaBoom went my heart 🧨

So much angst, I can’t even.
Eeeekkkk!!! I wish I could give this book all the stars.

I highly recommend this book to everyone.
Told from Aspen’s POV, if I had anything negative to say at all — it would be that I wished for Theo’s POV also - but that’s so minor.

All in all, this book was everything I didn’t know I needed, but everything I crave!

Thanks Kandi for this captivating read♥️
