I was excited about Axel and Penelope’s story from the very beginning of this series. Since each man and woman are getting their own book in this series I knew theirs would be epic. We didn’t really know much about him so I was curious as to what kind of man he was. In each of the other books we got a glimpse of how the other guys were but with Axel there wasn’t as much time spent with him so he was a mystery to me. And Axel did not disappoint. All the men in this series are seriously alpha but I would have to say Axel is the most alpha. And he is hot, hot, hot, and his dirty talk makes him extra sexy!

Penelope and Axel just every other “couple” they are put in a situation where they must survive and given the circumstances that were against them along the way they tried to conquer all the demons surrounding them! Penelope just wants to find her daughter Millie and be reunited with her after so much time apart and along the way she found the one thing that was missing in her life, a sense of comfort and safety and she found that in Axel along with some really hot sex!

This is book 5 in the Behind Closed Doors series and this one will keep you on the edge of your seat just like the other books in this series. Please read these books in order it helps you understand the story better if you do! Maggie Cole’s writing in this series is the brilliant and the best I have seen from her. You can tell this series was a labor of love with a lot of research done! Do not hesitate when I tell you to start this series when you can you will not be disappointed!

Penelope works at the British embassy under William who is part of the Global Leaders. Penelope and Millie are taken by Santiago and then Millie is sent to his sister for care and torcher Penelope to spill everything on William and other country leaders. It an adventure once Axle is assigned to protect her. Story all about power, greed and drugs along with who can control the global leaders. High power position are in this group. Need to read in order but good story.

Things are heating up in the plot line of this series and Alex and Penelope are in it up to their eye teeth. Alex falls fast for Penelope and promises to get her kidnapped child back. There is a massive amount of unnecessary and repetitive inner dialogue but I persevered. These two are combustive when they get together and no matter how many times they get knocked down they get up and give it another go. This book has lots of bad guys, action, suspense and steam.

The connection they had from the beginning is wow, love the nickname “green eyes” and his promise he made to make rescuing Millie his top priority. Love that Penelope felt so at ease and safe with him that she opened up about the Global Leaders and gave us a more detailed version of how dangerous they actually are. Can’t wait for the last instalment in the series to see how it ends ❤️
