Luna (The Luna Series Book 1) Kindle Edition
“What have I done?” I whisper, horror filling me as I look around at my pack.
Ripped from my perfectly ordinary, happy life, I discovered the shocking truth: I am a werewolf. Yes, you heard that right. Fuzzy tail, raw meat cravings… though some details caught me by surprise.
Moving to the stunning small town of Lupine Valley introduced me to a group of strong, protective men who are apparently my fated mates. They’re the leaders of this town, and they want me to lead beside them.
But imagine everyone’s surprise, when we learn I’m more dominant than they are, and my inner wolf does not want to bow down.
The pack is plagued by injustices I’m determined to fix, but someone would rather see me gone. They’re targeting me and my home, using any means necessary to drive me out. As I fight to uncover who’s behind the attacks, I must find my place in this supernatural world, or risk losing my mates and the destiny my soul craves.
Can I expose the threat and claim my power as Luna, or will my enemies succeed in banishing me from Lupine Valley for good?

About the Author
Sarah Sampino graduated from the New York University Tisch School of the Arts, where she was trained specifically in voice acting and audiobook narration by the top narrators and producers in the business. Sarah also studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London, which has helped her master all kinds of British dialects. The fact that her fiance is British doesn't hurt either! The two of them now record dual and duet narrations together. On the occasion that Sarah is not being actor-y, she can be found procrastinating everything by burying her face into a fantasy novel. She loves fantasies, especially with enemies-to-lovers, or a strong and badass heroine. Romance, fantasy, YA thrillers, LitRPG-you name it!

- Reviewed in the United States on August 10, 2020I seriously did not want this book to end!! I love Lottie and her story. This is one of those books where you fall head first into the story and don't want to leave. Lottie finished school and is starting her first job as a vet in a small town. Unbeknownst to her, it is a supernatural town. They had hoped to slowly integrate her into the community, learn about the supernatural world and then have her take over the vet clinic. However, her first day there she meets her mates. Of course, she doesn't know this so she just thinks they are being super friendly with some small town and weirdness and vocab.
Things get more intense as her wolf begins to surface, and Lottie finds out some shocking news. She eventually cannot deny what she has been piecing together and confronts the truth. A series of events occur and things go from everyday normal to overwhelming. In 24 hours her whole world is shifted. I feel for her and the truths that she has to accept. She struggles in the beginning, but eventually can't deny it. I feel like the story is starting to develop more when it ends sadly and me wanting more.
The guys are uniquely different and diverse. Though the last 3 we don't get to know as much about yet. I definitely am a fan of River. The mountain quiet ones always get me 🥰 Noah seems pretty sweet, Caden is possessive, Warren is grouchy, Dillion is attentive, but kind of fades to the back. I think she is going to have to make sure he doesn't feel lesser because I can see it happening naturally because of his rank. Rhett and Warren still learning, but they seem good. Warren may be another rough around the edges type, but sweet in the middle. Eli, not sure yet... He hurt her in the past but it's also understandable from his POV, but I still feel like there are repairs that need to be done there.
The guys frustrated me at the end. I was so there with Lottie that they were not being good mates and not helping her. They were so possessive and protective in the beginning, but then they just drop the ball. They leave her feeling insecure, unwanted, unprotected, and ultimately unprepared for what to expect as everything is new to her. She is learning about the pack life, her wolf, mate bonds, and being a wolf. Everything is new and overwhelming, and yet they just keep making stupid mistakes. They should be making her feel secure, loved and cherished. I'm not sure what happened the last night, but it would be interesting to know their thoughts because from her POV they abandoned her emotionally first by ignoring her, talking to another unmated female, and then physically by not checking on her or comforting her. Again.. they should know better. They keep things from her and it just hurts her more. (like that "prank" I'm pretty sure is an ex or jealous girl, but they don't say anything!!) They were very possessive in the beginning and have lived the life, but yet they ignore her feelings and inexperience with being a shifter. They need to step up and make amends. Do better guys. I felt the emotions and was gutted with her.
But what I love about this book, is that Lottie is strong. She feels inadequate at times, but she is compassionate, she is kind, and she stands up for what is right. We get to experience this new world and her experiences through her eyes and with her. She is easy to like and want to root for. I think a lot is coming, that we are preparing for something big to come. So I hope the people on her life step up more and show her how loved she is because that will make her stronger. I kind of wish it was multiple POVS so I had more sense of the guys. Mild to medium Steam toward the end. It is set in England, so it is does have different phrases and spelling. A few small errors and stilted sentences, but does not and away from the story. This is a great story and I am so invested! I cannot wait for me. ♥️♥️♥️♥️
- Reviewed in the United States on September 1, 2020I’m writing this more for the author than for other readers. I did finish the book so that should tell that I did enjoy it to an extent however I want to provide a critique in hopes that if the author agrees, they may be able to improve their craft. I do think it’s an interesting story but could have been executed a bit better. Readers, please do not use my review to avoid this book. It’s more that once I finished it, these things were still on my mind. So it had enough of an impact for me to want the author to improve! Major spoilers ahead!!!

1. There should have been a lot more backstory for Eli or at least more hinting and build up before he was introduced literally at the end of the book. I remembered him from the one conversation where the MC talks about having been hurt but that really was not enough for him to swoop in at the end, get claimed, get laid and take MCs virginity. I get that they knew each other for 3 years at uni but the reader didn’t. The reader literally got a little bit of info from the MC perspective when he shows up at the house but not enough to build a connection with him to justify her literally sleeping with him within the hour when you spend the entire book learning more about original five. Not to mention the original conversation where she talks about him it honestly made him sound like an ex. Not a friend that she was in love with. Honestly would have made it so much more interesting if he had been an ex and if instead of jumping straight into I loves you if they instead really did fight the bond and then relented in a future installment.
2. Rhett and Wyatt should have been introduced a lot earlier. Obviously there is foreshadowing of the relationship when MC has her initial power play and talks to Alpha Simmons but again talk about swooping in at the end and claiming each other, again, before all of the original five. Like seriously if I was Warren or Caden I’d be pissed.
3. We should really ease up on the crying and the wine. I get it. It’s an emotional rollercoaster but her inner wolf should have gotten pissed about how weak she’s making herself appear and how clingy she is. She starts off as a strong character on a new arc, first time away from her bff and on her own. Shows backbone to Warren immediately and then has no backbone for the rest of the book outside of when she throws a tantrum and starts crying. With how powerful her wolf supposedly is, I’d have expected more independence. Instead we see the same scene play out over and over again. A mate or parent leaves the room and she starts crying.
3.5. We should really cut back on the alcohol. There was enough attention given in one or two scenes about Warren drinking from a flask that I thought we were going to have some sort of subplot about what he is drinking (is it blood? Whiskey? Does he have a problem?). Then you have the MC that treats literally every misgiving or bad experience with tears and wine. I kept waiting for her growth where she’d step away from these crutches and put her big girl panties on but she never quite gets there. It’s prominent enough where she herself has to clarify internally that she’s not an alcoholic but her and her BFF cheer about literally having two glasses of wine, one for each hand to deal with a bad day.
4. The pacing isn’t quite right. We spend so much of the book with the original five that when the last three are added it felt entirely rushed. There was no indication at least that I saw that she didn’t feel like she had all of her mates. Future mates would have been better introduced in another installment so you could get to know them like the original five.
5. MC is supposed to have an ability to be able tell when someone is ill. She uses the ability all of one time. Would have loved to see more of this side of her.
6. MC is not dumb but she took an awful long time to figure out the shifter thing. It’s like she was in denial but without showing the reader she was in denial. Instead of seeing internal dialogue where you’d expect her to argue with herself about the strangeness, you get “I’m not going to think about this right now” and then she just moves on. Then when she finally admits it she rolls with it like it’s no big deal (minus the crying she doesn’t get her way).
- Reviewed in the United States on August 8, 2020This was just a great read! I loved the story!
Lottie moves to a small town as the new vet. She gains friends her first day there that she becomes close to. She starts seeing things that weird and stand out to her.
I like that this book gave a new twist to the supernatural world. It has a good pace throughout the book so I became close to Lottie and loved her personality. She's always been an independent woman and that wasn't going to change anytime soon. I also liked that she kept questioning things around her. She also questioned her thoughts when they started being different than what she usually would have thought.
I can't wait to read the next book!
- Reviewed in the United States on May 1, 2024The first chapter was repeated and I saw a few grammar/spelling errors but that’s common for an indie writer. The storyline was great and I loved the character development and development of her bonds with other characters. The cliffhanger was huge and I loved it and am so happy the rest of the series is completed

2.0 out of 5 stars Need to be revised.
Has a lot of typing errors. Sometimes it doesn’t make sense what is said. It has to much repetitive tells, like she explains the story a lot of time in a row. Also the writing is a bit flat. Like need more writing style to make it more appealing.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great start to a new series
This was a great start to a new series. I would have given 5 stars as I really enjoyed it but there are a few spelling and grammar issues, whilst they didn’t detract from the story for me, I need to keep my reviews fair. Also the female MC found things odd which the guys kept sweeping Uber the proverbial carpet, but I find it a bit odd as most people might have at least asked more questions or been a little bit more curious or suspicious. That said I understand why the FMC was a bit whiney and emotional and as long as it improves over the series I can accept it. I liked the world building and I very much looking to see what comes next. I really did enjoy the story, I didn’t struggle to read it, I didn’t really want to put it down. A readers muse wants to read and enjoys what it wants and this one really hit the spot for me.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Story
Okay so the story line and the characters are great.
This book lost a star because of all the spelling and grammar issues.
Once it receives a really good edit it will be a 5 star
