I don't like to give a bad review but.....
I usually order her books as they come out so I decided to go ahead and get this one. I know the time frame is the 50's up to present time but I didn't like it. Everyone reads for different reasons and I read to escape.I skimmed thru this one because after a certain point I couldn't believe it was going the way it was. I know that time was different then and maybe things went that way, but the way things played out I didn't like. I hope the next one is better.

I love this book. This is Elizabeth Lennox at her best. I love a good romance and I love a bit of heartache. This book has both.
Set in the mid 50s this story of two people who fall in love. Things were a lot different then. Scarlett' s parents want her to marry into a rich family and give up her mechanic/writer boyfriend. Her father meets with the boyfriend and plants the seed in his mind, " how long are you and my daughter going to be scrimping and saving, how long will it take for you to be published, you expect my daughter to work". He ends up walking away ........ I was in tears for this girl.

I love these books. I love how she brings us one story and it intertwines within another. Looking back at the 1950’s when women were expected to marry, have children, keep house and not much more. Our story is different we have a woman who wants to make a difference in a man’s world. She is educated but her parents have struggled to give her that education and expect her to marry well. She falls in love with a struggling author and he leaves her thinking he is doing the right thing. Read the story for a happy ending.
