I have to admit that I don’t often share my favorite characters from an entire series (or ongoing), but the truth is that Liam captured my heart in previous stories and his own was just the perfect chance to dive into this honorable, determined and yes, lovable man. Liam is one of those men, like his father, who met their “right one” and knew very quickly that she was the one and only woman for them. Unfortunately, Andi was unable to return that feeling just as quickly. As a single parent her first priority was her son, Christian. When her son’s father came back into the picture suddenly wanting to be a part of their son’s life, well Andi gave him that chance… and walked away from Liam. Heartbreak is not a good feeling, but Liam understood, even though it hurt like nothing he’s ever known. When Jeff died in an accident Liam thought maybe he had a chance… but now Andi was firmly cocooned in her need to not take chances, that everything changes and you can trust nothing to remain constant… except her devotion to her son. He didn’t push, even when there was a chance for something – Liam wants it all and isn’t willing to settle f or less.

When Andi and Christian are threatened by one of Jeff’s family members Liam is there providing not only his own skills but his security trained dog, Jag as well. Soon it becomes obvious that drastic measures are going to be needed. As expected the entire Kilcannon family sets out to protect and provide an answer for Andi. One she’s not too thrilled with, but it just might work.

Leader of the Pack describes Liam so perfectly. The eldest, the leader of the elite training, and the man who is the closest copy of his beloved father. You’d have to work really hard not to like Liam. It took me much longer to warm up to Andi. As a single parent myself, I “got” where she was coming from but there comes a time when you’ve seen all the evidence of what a right for you kind of man Liam is and she’s still wanting certainty and guarantees. There are no guarantees in life, sad but true. So I enjoyed their romance but I was definitely team Liam on this one.

The base story is awesome, the continuing bantering and loving of the entire Kilcannon family adds a special touch to each story There are twists and turns on this one and perhaps things you won’t see until you’re hit with them. It makes for a powerful story, a chance for Liam to show Andi what their possibilities are… and it will capture your emotions.. I loved this story and I cannot wait to dive into the next in line.

I’ve never met a Roxanne St. Claire book that I didn’t love or at the least really like, and Leader of the Pack is no exception to that. If you love Romance and dogs, then you should be enjoying this series yourself. You’ll be hooked. I’d recommend this one for any Romance reader who enjoys complex stories, believable, realistic characters and those adorable pups no matter their age.

I own an e-copy of this book.

LEADER OF THE PACK is a standalone read with a HEA. This series is about a big Irish Kilcannon family. There is the father of the clan, a widower determined to see his children all happily married. He has 4 sons and 2 daughters. They own and operate the largest dog training facility in North Carolina. This story is about Liam, an ex-Marine and the oldest son. Liam is an introvert, usually very misunderstood by his family. Most folks don't understand introverts! They need quiet and peacefulness to recharge their batteries. They don't particularly like being around crowds or noisy groups. That type of scene sucks the life out of them. I know this because I am one. Liam has been in love with a young woman he met and briefly dated 3 years ago. Seeing his siblings fall in love and moving on with their lives has also pulled him more into himself. He trains all the guard and service dogs at the facility.

He suddenly finds the love of his life back in his life and he is hoping for a happy ever after. However, her 6 year old son is suffering from the loss of his father. Andi never married his dad but she has made every effort to keep him in the boys life. It hasn't been easy as he is really not father material and he has chosen to live in the UK for most of the boy's life. Then suddenly as she first starts to date Liam he shows up and wants a second chance to be a father. She opts to give him that chance leaving Liam broken hearted.

Now they are getting their second chance. But, with that chance comes a dire threat to Andi and Christian. There is family drama as things that seemed one way turned out to be quite different. There is adventure and drama as the police get involved with straightening everything out. Andi seemed determine to protect her son regardless who she hurts in the process. I loved him, there were times I wanted to smack her!! But all's well that ends well. They get their HEA thanks to a lot of side characters and a few good dogs. I enjoyed the story and I definitely recommend it.

I was not paid for this review. I am not a writer nor do I know one. I am not kin to this author. I am a reader and this is my opinion, nothing more, nothing less. 10/1/18.

Old lovers, Liam and Andi, vacillated in and out of love and a forced marriage to prevent her alleged, dead ex, Jeff and his sister, Nora, from getting her son Christian and his inherited millions. Andi, facing what many single mothers, experience with their kids in these modern dating times, felt over protective of Christian and worried about his emotional attachment to Liam. The truth about the Scott siblings further opened her eyes to her faulty character judgements. Despite all these doubts, Liam remained steadfastly in love with Andi, Christian, Jag, and Zelda.

Great plot, and characters with an interesting twist at the end. Yes, the HEA was not annulled, but the missed courting baby steps were reclaimed and enjoyed with gusto!

09/18/19. Palindrome Week of 2019.

Loved this story... A 2nd chance at love, a very shy and introverted child, a marvellous trainer, and the Kilcannon family. Andi couldn't hold on to her fears about close relationships with so much love and support. What a satisfying story! Now I'll be reading the whole series! Highly recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars Liam deserved better
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on February 3, 2023
Fabulous writing as always. Totally involved on every page. And due to the excellent writing I truly disliked the heroine. The way she treats Liam is just unconscionable and feels unsubstantiated really because of one experience. But even if it was justified, she annoyed me intensely when she constantly rejects Liam at every turn and then has the gall to get upset with him when he won’t play her game and just have sex. She feels hurt when he sticks to the agreement of a sham marriage and pushes for just sex. She never ever seems to really recognize his true character until the end. And even right at the end she drags out her declaration of love in a way that prolongs his agony!!! She’s the first character I really don’t like. 🤷🏼‍♀️ Liam deserves better.
