I really liked the box. The engraving turned out beautifully. The latch opens and closes easily, and holds securely when closed. The box is actual wood, not a wood composite, which is a definite plus. I wish the lid/base were slightly thicker wood, but the box appears to be made well with no unfinished or poorly fitted pieces. It's unfortunately not nearly as heavy and sturdy as oak.

The stain on the box is definitely cherry as shown in the picture posted by another customer. I'm not posting a picture myself because I had the recipient's name engraved. I'm mildly disappointed that the box wasn't the dark reddish brown seen in the display pictures, but I don't hate the color.

All in all, I don't have any regrets about the purchase, and I hope it will do a great job of holding dice and other D&D supplies. Much better than carting everything around in a bag.

Updating my review now several years later (March 2021). I ordered an additional one for a friend who recently changed their name, and it (I have not seen in person) apparently turned out quite lovely. I am happy with both purchases.
