The Sheik's Defiant Fiancée Kindle Edition

4.0 4.0 out of 5 stars 4,994 ratings

Laila knew in her heart that marriage should be for love, not for duty. Her union with Sheik Jabril would help improve and maintain political stability in her country, as well as bring the people of her province honor and pride. And Jabril was certainly easy on the eyes. He was tall, built like an Olympian, and exuded power and masculinity. But the man was a player of the worst sort, with mistresses all over the world! She realizes that she cannot say no to the Sheik of Surisia, so she respectfully requests that they treat their marriage like the business arrangement that it is. His response? He kisses her! Through that kiss, he demonstrates that he will not accept anything less than her full acquiescence, but she also discovers that his passion and physical presence stir something within her that she cannot control.

Their first public event together convinces Jabril that he made an excellent choice for a wife. She is not only stunningly beautiful, but smart and socially adept. She will be a worthy partner to rule his kingdom, and to share his bed! Her trembling response to his touch excites him, but her suggestion that they essentially live separate lives confounds and amuses him. There is no way he will allow that. The intensity of their first kiss lingers in his memory and he will not relent until he has experienced all she can give. He wants her in his bed, every night. And he will have her!

I made the error of reading The Tycoon's Make-Believe Fiancée, the third book in this trilogy first and didn't realise it was a book in a trilogy or series until I read The Prince's Resistant Lover, the second installment in this series. Each can be a stand alone, however you get more insight to the characters and the storyline if you read them in order.

This book and the other two are tender little love stories, however they were just too short for my liking, so they only earned a 4.5 rating.

Good set of freebies!

Read all 3 books in order to make it more like one decent book – in length that is. Each is stand alone but there is a crossover of some of the characters which is why it would make it a little more interesting to read in order for more of a time line. There are a few editing errors but I’ve seen worse in other e-books. People and publishers don’t want to pay for professional editors and tell themselves that because the youth is texting they don’t know the difference. Perhaps they need to speak up more, if they do.

Timeline sequence:
1. The Sheik’s Defiant Fiancée (66 pages)
2. The Princes Resistant Lover (83 pages)
3. The Tycoon’s Make Believe Fiancée (79 pages)

*Review first published on Goodreads*

This was better written than the other 3 books of hers that I've read: The Tycoon's Make-Believe Fiancée, The Sheik's Intimate Proposition, The Sheik's Dangerous Lover. The plot was tighter, the sexual tension higher, the chemistry between the H/h helluva lot better, and lesser editing issues.

"Because we're not going to have a sanitized version of a marriage between us. We're going to get to know each other, we're going to make love over and over again, we're going to raise our children and grow this country and we're going to do it together. We'll fight and irritate each other but I guarantee, after the last two kisses between us, we will have a great deal of passion as well."

RAWRRR. Me want that too!

Conclusion: Enjoyable, free read. No one's complaining. :)

Even though the book is a short story it is one of those that you have to read. It is about Laila who is suppose to marry someone who she only met once, who she doesn’t love or trust and than there is Jabil who is a Sheik and once he spends more time with Laila he can’t wait to marry her and must convince her to marry him....will he able to convince her that he loves her and to give them a chance

This book was a good read, and was well worth the money. The writer did an excellent job of making classic category style romance equivalent to the harlequin Presents series. The writing was excellent and the story was well crafted.

The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is that the characters, while being well developed, were given flaws that made me pull away from them. She was overcome by his every kiss, and he never listened to a "no" she said. Don;t get me wrong, there was no forced sex nor a rape, but it was a romance of the style of domination and helplessness reinforced by how good the people were.

If you like the Harlequin Presents series, with 'the poor female dominated by the strong man,' you will love this. If you dislike that type of romance, move on.

A Sheik determined to earn his defiant fiancee love and trust. This sexy story is just too short but still hot and entertaining. Fun reading.

I seem to be on a roll! This is the third good book I've read in a while. I had not joined the sheiks thing, but I was pleasantly surprised. I have read historical and I wasn't ready to do the harem and/or first wife thing. This was a good read with the insecurities of the bride being addressed by her fiance a very loving and attentive manner. A cool hero, while appearing to have a "don't sweat the small stuff attitude", still did not just ignore her concerns. She had enough strength and confidence in herself that although she had fears/concerns, she also had a sense of what she would and would not find acceptable. Very good read. I will look for other books by Elizabeth Lennox, and this book joins my 're-reads.

I feel as though The Sheik's Defiant Fiancee is a pulp novel whose intended audience is men from the late 50's. It's not a question of the Sheik being misogynistic - because he is, it's more about how namby pamby the Fiancee is. Defiant? When? With one look, one touch, she is helpless to resist him, even though she tries ever so hard to do so. Believe me, she tried a lot, and it got old quickly.

Below is a spoilery cliff note to this novel.

No don't.
I cant.
I don't want you.
I'll never love you.
Oh, what's happening?
My body isn't my own.

Yield to me.
I will have you.
Why resist what we both want?

Just like Lennox' other books , this one was great as well. Loved the way both the protagonists complimented each other whilst fighting their own demons.
She couldn't trust him & that was the only thing he wanted !
Amazingly written

This is part 1 of a 3 series, and you will be pleased to know that this series is FREE. In this book we meet Laila and Jabril. The man she is forced to marry has lovers all around the world waiting for him in his various apartments, that she believes is true. Not wanting to get close to this man Laila doesn't want to love him.

I love a good romance story. I do think that these books are quite tame for Elizabeth Lennox and most of her best work is still to be read, however enjoy this FREE series the 2nd book The Princes Resistant Lover and the 3rd book The Tycoons Make Believe Fiancee and see what you think.

4.0 out of 5 stars A simple but nice love story....

The story is simply written but the evolution of the love story where the fiancee is at first full of negativity towards the relationship but is brought to love the Sheik who never gives up on her is interesting...
