Part Eight: Surrender

Now an official member of the highly exclusive Dining Club, Grace has proven to herself-and to her insatiable lover David-that she has mastered the sexual delights the Club has to offer. As her reward, David reveals the secrets behind the Club's elusive Table Five, and Grace learns their adventure is far from over . . .

Table Five is only open to the most elite Club members, and it promises to change Grace and David's relationship-for better or for worse. To earn her coveted spot at the table, Grace must confront Amber-the beauty intent on winning David's affection-in a sensual test that only one of them can pass. But Grace's passion for David has never been stronger, and nothing will stop her from securing her place at his side.

Okay so I decided to continue reading this series, in all - eight parts, with the hope that this would be tied up. But it seems that there will be a few more installments to come.

So Grace has finished her trials and is going to challenge Amber for the head table. This way she can ensure that she keeps David and rids herself of Amber. But Grace's plans are flawed since she will become the placeholder of the coveted spot and if someone challenges her in the future she will be forced to leave, and leave David.

So of course this goes as predicted, and yes David does a 180 so fast it makes your head spin. But, since his shift was so quick and without any real major revelation or confession it had zero emotional impact.

A story like this, with themes like this, if meant to have a romantic feel to them should come with a level of trust that you can sense in the characters. Grace is placed into situations that are outside of her comfort zone and although aroused, David does a piss-poor job of being a responsible guide on her journey. Without that bond of trust the whole story just lacked for me. It wasn't a romance and it wasn't erotic enough just to be something hot to read. I feel that since the attempt was to make it an erotic romance, and that did not seem to be displayed, I just could never find any way to pull a connection from anything in this story.

I hope that with a bit of angst from Amber and with Grace and David finding some type of common ground that maybe there will be something that can be accomplished in this series, but this one is just not for me. I gave it a good shot and my journey ends with this installment.

Great series

Grace is informed what it means to pass the fourth trial and how to pass the fifth. She must unseat Amber and to do that is to be completely submissive. So basically just do what you've always done Grace and you'll win. Grace does so and bests Amber, taking over the Dining Club. She has grand plans after all and there has to be set-up for a sequel book.

So, I'm a bit bitter about the whole thing. I know I haven't been a fan of this series from the beginning but since I downloaded all 8 parts, I chose to finish the series even though it was full of crazy and ridiculousness. Where to start...

Well let me talk about Grace for a minute. Grace is a submissive but we never really get the sense of her being submissive other than David demanding she be so. It's incredibly confusing as a reader to see a character pidgeon-holed for no purpose other than to push the plot along. I could not relate to her nor did I want to.

David has been an issue with me since day one and by the end of it, I still had no respect for the character. As a reader, I was never given any reason to care about, like, or root for David. We are told he is the hero but he never does anything remotely heroic and I sort of wonder if he's a controlling abuser. He manipulates and demands everything from Grace and offers nothing in return. The author seems to be trying a "Fifty Shades" out by saying he's never had a serious relationship and that is what Grace brings to the table. The difference? Ana visibly changed Christian. Grace didn't do that. She changed in order to suit David.

The secondary characters did nothing for me either. Amber was a raging bitch because the story demanded one. Andrew was supposed to be part of a love triangle and just came off as over-the-top. How could he love Grace after spending about three hours with her in the middle of sex scenes? How could any reader be expected to agree with that? Plus the random sex scenes between Amber and Andrew were totally worth skipping as they added nothing.

I was on the home stretch for the end and pretty excited before I had a moment of throwing my kindle down onto the bed. There was sequel fodder! At the end! Seriously?! I was so irritated by that discovery I seethed throughout the last ten pages. Apparently some random guy introduced in part 8 and Amber are going to 'cause trouble'. Whatever. I was so done by that point. I'm not sure why the author/publisher/etc. opted to go that route but it angered me nonetheless. I can promise I won't buy it.

So overall? Skip this one. Do not even bother trying to rationalize it. This book offered nothing to me other than anger and disbelief. It really saddened me since I featured it for eight weeks on my site. I thought about offering a giveaway of part one but decided I didn't want to spread this one around anymore. Take your 99 cents and buy something else.

You get to a point when you wonder what the author was thinking. I truly wonder that with this series. At this point. We know Grace is going to challenge Amber for the hostess job at the Dinning Club. She wants David and this is her way to have him completely.

Of course Amber is going to fail the final test. I did like how Grace accepted the position and was ready to make it a better experience for everyone and expand further with the ideas for a new club/hotel.
