Publisher's summary

I always wanted a nice, normal boyfriend. The kind you could bring home to your parents. Instead, I fell for Austin Wright.

We tried this once and failed. Hard.

I swore the bad-boy Wright who set my body on fire would never get a second chance, because our love is heroin-laced-gasoline-addicting and destined to go up in flames.

HATED the Narrators!!! Both of them!

Would you try another book from K.A. Linde and/or Alexander Cendese and Lucy Rivers ?

I have listened to the 1st two books and loved them. I've been waiting for Julia's story but simply cannot stand the narrators. Nasally and whiney and the male's "woman" voice nearly put into a fit.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Could tell - returned the book.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Alexander Cendese and Lucy Rivers ?

Joe Arden and Lidia Dornet - Perfect in book #2

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from The Wright Mistake?

I will have to read this book to give feedback on the contents.

Almost Couldn’t Listen.

I truly love KA Lindes stories and I’m in love with all the Wright brothers so Austin’s story was not any different in that regard.
The female narrator was fine but the male narrator speaking the fe,ale parts was just horrible.
He used a high pitched, squeaky, old lady type voice and I found it distracted me for quite a few chapters. I stopped listening to it for a few weeks because I just couldn’t get into the story because of that voice he used when speaking the female POV.
It was the same when he used all 3 female parts, he spoke Julia’s, Emery’s and Heidi’s voices the same way, so when all 3 were in a scene it drove me to stop the book several times to stop my ears from bleeding!
I guess you get the picture.
Loved the story (well most of it) and disliked the male narrator speaking the female POVs.

Awful

The narration made this so difficult to finish. It was so bad I wanted to stab my ears! Story was just OK. I'm so glad it's over.

Really let down.

The first two books captivated me I listened to book 2 in one sitting. I figured to start book 3 for the heck of it. First chapter in and I am wondering if I can even finish it. Because in the end I know who ends up together. Lucy Rivers makes Landon and Heidi sound ridiculous with a horrible southern accents. Not sure I will actually finish this chapter let alone the book!

Narration ruined the book

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

Narrators were not appropriate choices for this type of book. Made it hard to want to continue even though I had listened to the first two in the series. I’m leary of buying the 4th.

How could the performance have been better?

Different narrators.

Couldn't get past the narration

The male narrator has no idea how to do female voices. Every female sounded the same, and like Elmer Fudd. HORRIBLE!

This is a mess...

Audible Escape. DNF @35%. This audiobook is a hot mess. There’s a loss of continuity in the series by suddenly giving the characters Texas accents. As a Texan, this attempt was laughable. They didn’t even carry them consistently throughout. I don’t know what was going on with Alexander Cendese ~ I’ve heard many books by him and he’s always been fantastic. Even narrating the Bourbon Kings series where he had a southern accent was fine. Yes, he’s a man doing a woman’s voice so you can’t expect pure feminine, but several of the female characters were horrible. Lucy Rivers wasn’t much better here either.

Let’s move on to the story. This is set a year after Landon & Heidi’s book. Austin is repeatedly touted as constantly drunk throughout book 1 & 2. I don’t think he’s ever referred to as an alcoholic per se, but the insinuation is there. I was actually expecting that perhaps he was recovering and we were going to get a better backstory as to what fell apart between he & Julia, a “behind the scenes” of them from the time covered in books 1 & 2.

Nope. Austin is STILL a raging alcoholic. Despite repeatedly acknowledging that he’s always drunk, his very wealthy family has to have a board of directors tell them this. They still do NOTHING to encourage Austin to seek treatment of any kind. And to soften the bad news that the board won’t approve his promotion ~ they offer him a BOTTLE of expensive liquor.

Then, Julia’s so-called friends encourage her REPEATEDLY to get involved with him. She, wisely, tries to resist. He drunkenly and crudely propositions her repeatedly. Then, after weeks of all this pressure, she finally caved. Yup, he’s drunk when he asks her out “officially” and after thinking it over ~ SHE SAYS YES.

Are you kidding me? This is not romantic. This is not healthy. And you should fire all your friends for encouraging this.

Between this train wreck of a relationship and the barely tolerable narration ~ I’m done.

Narrators weren’t THAT bad! 🤷🏾‍♀️

I almost skipped out on this book and the series bc of the terrible reviews regarding the narrators. They honestly weren’t that bad. The guy’s female voice was a little annoying, but I’ve heard worse. And the female’s southern accent voice was spot on if you ask me... have you ever heard a Texan talk?? Super slow and drawn out with deep southern twang.

Anyways, back to the book... Austin and Julia’s story was probably my favorite so far. They had so much more depth to their relationship than the previous two stories. And things got real with Austin’s drinking and when Julia’s ex came back into the picture (that was pretty predictable, but still good).

Overall pretty decent listen. Judge the narrators for yourself if you’ve listened to book 1 & 2!

Horrible narration especially Alexander Cendese

I'm glad I didn't waste money or credits on this series and waited until it came to the romance package. Alexander doing a women's voice is nasally almost like someone is holding his nose while he tries to breath. The narration didn't ruin the book I just thought the women in this series are stupid. They seem more concerned with sleeping with the Wright brother's than their jobs. I mean come on there is a time and place for everything but risking it all just to get laid, REALLY! Women are better than that and amazingly we can multi-task. Book 2 I skipped large sections book 3 I skipped chapters just to get to the end and then returned it.

Absolutely horrid male narrator!!!

The male voice doing other male & female voices made this book almost unbearable to listen to!!!
He made them all sound like ignorant hillbilly kicks. I will never listen to another book read by this guy. He ruined a terrific book!
