About the Author

Jim Wright is the author of several books about nature, a prize-winning journalist, and the birding columnist for The Record, Northern New Jersey’s leading newspaper. He has hosted screech owls in his backyard nest box since 2004 and observed them via a nest cam for more than a decade. He leads a campaign to ban the rat poisons that kill owls and other wildlife. He lives in Allendale, New Jersey, where he is a marsh warden.

Scott Weston has been involved with birding and owling for over 35 years, going on pre-dawn Audubon Christmas bird counts since he was 11. In 2009, using squirrel-resistant nest boxes of his own design, he set up a screech owl trail that has fledged over 130 owlets. An accomplished photographer, Scott has contributed to local and national publications, including Cornell’s All About Backyard Birds. He lives in northeastern Massachusetts.

A long-time prize-winning journalist and former movie critic, Jim Wright is the author of "The Real James Bond," which got an excellent writeups in The Wall Street Journal, The Times Literary Supplement (TLS, U.K.), Variety and elsewhere.

He is currently doing Zoom talks and interviews about the book all over the English-speaking world, including Great Britain, the U.S., Canada and Australia

Wright has written nature books about Central America’s largest rainforest, Pennsylvania’s legendary Hawk Mountain, and the New Jersey Meadowlands. I was given the opportunity to read this book via NetGalley. I enjoyed this book. The pictures were incredible and the content was informative. The main topic of the book was how to attract owls to your area and owl house and how to photograph them. I found it interesting but not something I am able to do at this time. The photos were really attractive. If you are interested in owls, this is an interesting book to look at; if you are wanting to attract owls to your area this is a good resource.

This is a great resource for those “tiny but mighty” Screech Owls. Although they are tricky to see, they’re more common than you would think and this book is the perfect resource to tell you all you need to know about attracting and retaining them by helping build the ideal habitat.

I also love how the author includes other species of owls too! A must for the owl-lover in your life.

I love owls, collect owls of any type and would like to attend a falconry course. This was a book that talked to my heart, made me learn a lot of thing, and was fascinated by the pictures
