    I bought this to replace the unreliable sensor that was built in to my porch light fixture after bypassing the sensor and installing a smart bulb. It linked to my Home Assistant server via my Sonoff Zigbee dongle with no issues. Adjustable detection interval and sensitivity work well. Triggers the light on/off automations without fail so far. Mount adhered securely to the outside of the door frame no problem.

    The motion detection latency is not consistent. Most of the time, it is responsive, but 1 out of every 5 or 6 triggers, it seems a bit late to react.

    Also the advertisements push a detection interval. How it works: if the detection interval is set to 60 seconds, the unit will 'sleep' for 60 seconds and then start its trigger abilities. Thus, if motion occurs for 55 seconds, and the last 5 seconds of time do not have motion, the unit will fire off a 'clear'/nothing detected. The better way (but not implemented) to do this is that the interval should start after the last detection of movement. This change plus the responsiveness would make this unit much better.

    I bought this because I wanted to try it out with Home Assistant. So, I'm running a Raspberry Pi 5 with Home Assistant. I also have the SkyConnect Zigbee/Matter (or is it Thread? it confuses me) antenna connected to the Raspberry Pi running Home Assistant.

    I enabled pairing mode on the Aqara sensor and performed a search on Home Assistant. It found the sensor right away. I was able to configure a few testing Automations like turning on my Hue lights (I also have a Philips Hue bridge with Hue lights around the house) in the Living Room. Pretty neat having that cross product functionality.

    The motion sensor is responds quickly and is accurate. It also has a light sensor, but I don't use that functionality; at least not yet. It's zigbee 3.0 but I'm not sure if it is upgradable to Matter in the future.

    I plan to use this in the kitchen for a night light sensor for under the cabinet LED lights. I think it will work great with Home Assistant, WLED, and BTF light strips under the cabinet. I just have to create an automation that turns on the light strips when motion is detected during a specific time frame. Easy peazy!

    If you are looking for a motion sensor that works with a zigbee network, this is one of the best choices.

    I can't add these to my G3 hub so I added them to Home Assistant. The detection range is 3-4 feet at best. Sure it's a "wide" field but no distance. Tried on 2 of the sensors, but bought 4 of them. You're supposed to be able to change the field through the app, and I was hoping that would improve the range. These say they require a Zigbee 3.0 Hub, and the G3 says it's a Zigbee 3.0 Hub. Not sure what Aqara is doing but these are really worthless unless they can tell me how to fix them.

    Aqara is known for providing consumers high quality products at affordable prices. The P1 Motion Sensor doesn’t disappoint.

    The P1 Motion Sensor has a 5 year battery life and provides us with the ability to choose detection intervals. This is new for Aqara users as we did not have with the original model. The Blue trigger indicator light can now be disabled if desired. I can see this being great if you have this in a bedroom, office or Hallway.

    Finally, we also have the option to adjust the sensitivity of the sensor from low, medium or high. Low, means you need to be closer to the unit for detection to activate. Of course the higher the sensitivity the farther it will detect. Aqara has confirmed this sensor will also be receiving Matter support when rolled out.

    The product is HomeKit compatible and has very easy integration. To have this device added into HomeKit you will need an Aqara Hub, which I highly recommend the Aqara M1S.

    The only con to this device is that is not powered by Thread. Again, this is only a small gripe, overall another excellent product by Aqara.
