The best new hobby, you didn't know you needed
This printer has been an absolute blast to print on. A few quirks aside with the learning curve and diagnosing a few build plate issues, I have this printer dialed in. I know I've seen a lot of frustrated reviewers out there... but I don't think they did their due diligence in researching the machine before setting it up. The screen needs screen protectors. 2 of them unless you pull the factory thicker black tape over the lcd edges, and replace it with Klapton high heat Elegoo electronics tape. Then you only need one of those old iPad plastic/vinyl protectors. Not the glass ones. I've seen so many ruin their screens on the forums for not taking that warning seriously. Why the big name companies felt it necessary to not cover the lcd better, is beyond me. But it's not just Anycubic that forgoed that simple step. These machines are not plug and play. They are, in themselves another hobby, to better your other hobbies. An extension of your already expensive hobby, if you will...You need to know how to handle this machine, the same way you need to know the nuances of your airbrush, or the property of the paints you use etc. There's a learning curve. You need to not only beat your self up over not learning proper brush care, as you watch Windsor after Windsor and 8404 after 8404 get tanked, because you can't stop yourself from drowning your expensive rat fur tipped "extension of your arm" right in and through your pot of (most likely, also overly priced) paint...You need to know how to not ruin your high priced hobby tools, right? Well owning this machine is exactly the same thing! Just know what you need to do to not ruin it before... well you do. I've seen A LOT on fb groups and reddits that don't seem to learn about their investment before plugging it in and pressing "print".Heed my long, overly grandiose warning. This printer does exactly what it is supposed to. Whether you have the patience to figure out its nuances, and become a master of resin settings, support theory, electrical diagnostic technician/mechanic is another thing. This again... is an extention of your other hobbies. Creating its own macro hobby. Between miniature acquisition, to brush stroke. You now must learn the ways of your printer, to better your experience with it.My likes/pros- COST IS AFFORDABLE FINALLY- Print speed is ramped way up vs the old middle array- Print quality is outstanding- The pull of lid makes working on it a breeze- Waking up to a bed of prints is Xmas day fun- My miniature collection is at a malignant tumor speed of growth...Downside/Cons:- My miniature collection is at a malignant tumor speed of growth...- Pending on resin it can be smelly. Keep away from shared living spaces and pets- Get used to going through more nitrile gloves than a proctologist allergic to latex.- The post cleanup is messy and can leave your work area looking like the beaches of Normandy...- Failed prints can happen. And it feels like the grinch stole your Xmas morning from you.Overall: I love my printer. Quirks and all.I think the build quality and ease of use is in par with all the other big name companies. All 3d printers need to be learned and maintained. This one is no different.
