The sequel to Beautiful from the bestselling author of the Kat and Mouse Murder Mysteries. “A thriller so compelling that it takes your breath away.” —Betsy Reavley, bestselling author of Broken

What if your mother was murdered? And what if the man who murdered her took your daughter from you the day she was born? This is Lauren’s life. A life plagued by the existence of one man.

For as long as she can remember, the shadow of Ronald Treverick has cast over everything Lauren holds dear. She doesn’t know if she’ll ever get her daughter back, or if Treverick will triumph and destroy her family—one person at a time . . .

“Chilling . . .  these psychological exposés are a strength of Waller’s writing. Another strength is the author’s depiction of Cornwall.” —

Anita Waller was born in Sheffield, South Yorkshire in 1946. She married Dave in 1967 and they have three adult children.

With many books to her name, she feels she has finally realised her dream. She writes mainly psychological thrillers, but was commissioned in 2018 to write a cosy mystery series, the Kat and Mouse trilogy. By November 2020 this will have grown to five books, plus a spin-off standalone novel called Epitaph, featuring Doris, one of the characters from the series. This series has now led on to a spin-off series, the Connection Trilogy, with books entitled Blood Red, Code Blue and Mortal Green. All these books, which will number twenty by the time Mortal Green is available, have been published by Bloodhound Books.

In 2021 Waller signed a five book deal with Boldwood Books, and currently has five published books with them: One Hot Summer, The Family at No.12, Fatal Secrets (the first in a new series set in Sheffield), The Couple Across the Street, and Fatal Lies, the second in the Forrester series. The Family at No.12 reached #2 in the Amazon Kindle charts.

She is now in her late-seventies with a new Boldwood contract, happily writing most days and would dearly love to plan a novel, but has accepted that isn’t the way of her mind. Every novel starts with a sentence and she waits to see where that sentence and her characters will take her. If writer's block intrudes, be sure there will be a death.

In her life away from the computer in the corner of her kitchen, she is a Sheffield Wednesday supporter with blue blood in her veins!

Her genre is murder - necessary murder.

I enjoyed this book better than Beautiful. Amy was such an evil person in Beautiful that I had a hard time feeling sorry for her. Angel was totally different. This little girl won my heart.

I simply could not put this book down. I enjoy figuring out who did it, this book was full of twists. Angel/Grace is such a strong, intelligent child. Emotionally behind and yet advanced for her age. The story of her escape and then hunt for her torturer is baffling. Is no one in the family safe? I would not recommend this book for anyone younger than 18 due to the paedophile content and violence. I in fact read Beautiful first, if you are looking I would suggest to read them both. Will be reading more from this author.

Although this book proved to be as much of a page turner as " Beautiful ", it holds its own as the twists, of the plot keep you guessing!

Before reading this book you have to read Beautiful it is the beginning of this story. Truly a gifted writer, I look forward to reading more from this author. I read Beautiful and Angel in one day I did not want to put it down until the end. The characters were entertaining and lovable. A must read for fans of thriller novels keeps you guessing until the very end. Then you are shocked at the ending.

My goodness, this was a whirlwind of emotions brought out of me by a book! I loved this and its prequel as a whole. I appreciated the authors ability to force the mind to consider all parties and not just one POV. I HOPE TO SEE A BOOK THREE TO THIS SET! Great job, please write more and more!

Without giving away any of the plot, I just have to say I loved this. I read the first book and this was just as good. I thought it was very suspenseful and left you guessing about certain characters. I couldn't stop reading it. Can't wait to read another one of her books.

Potentially a great read. It starts off with introductions to so many names I had to take notes to remember each person's roles. I can read other dialects of English, however this one was a bit much for me. A bit hard to follow with some unbelievable circumstances, such as the little girl catching up with her language and reading skills so quickly. This story was a bit lengthy and at times boring. The ending strange, but I didn't mind that.

I really enjoyed ANGEL, sequel to BEAUTIFUL. Although the content was somewhat disturbing, I could not stop reading. With each page, I realized just how often things like this happen today. I loved Anita Waller's writing and have since read her other books.

The thing I like most about this book, this writer, is that you don't have to read 10 chapters to get into it. You don't have to stick with it before it gets interesting. From the first page I was hooked and I was unable to put it down. I had to find out what happened. I started it yesterday morning and just finished it today.
I love reading but never get as much time as I'd like to read so if a book doesn't lure me quickly I put it down and struggle to pick it back up again. This was a good read and a satisfying ending. I enjoyed the first book Beautiful but this one was even better.

Like 'Beautiful' before it, 'Angel' was a novel that you couldn't put down. Although worrying about what could possibly happen next, you just had to know. I recommend this novel to anyone who enjoys a good psychological thriller. I am now looking forward to reading Anita Waller's third book, '34 Days' 👏
