  • This speaker features an inbuilt limiter to prevent blowing any of the internal drivers. Our TS3 series speakers feature a switchable Pre-Amp that is a part of the Volume/Gain potentiometer on the rear of the unit. Once the pot is past the 1 o’clock mark, the pre-amp input will switch to a Mic Level Pre from a Line Level Pre. It’s important to consider that these gain staged pots are parallel to the level of the output. Should users find the signal is distorting, the ‘Signal Limit’ LED will illuminate Red indicating the source incoming is too high, this signal will need to be attenuated to ensure the pre-amp is not ‘clipping’.

    Ok...wow..for the money this little ts308 blows me away ! I have been at this a long time and have used many different PA cabinets along the way and this stands up with the best of them including QSC..for the money this speaker is just as loud as that one except it doesnt have all the fancy bells and whistles, I say who CARES? It's a speaker ..I bought this for one purpose, to have and use as a floor monitor for gigs with my band , bars , nightclubs etc and for that purpose it's simply amazing, I also use it to play along to music from my tablet, again plenty loud enough for that, as you can see in my pics in my practice space ! I can easily hear all the vocals and guitar and bass on stage live just fine and them some over my loud drum kit and the loud stage ! Easily ! And it's very light, small, easy to take along...I Love this speaker..I run a signal from the main board over to my little behringer mixer , then out to this speaker which gives me some EQ control and I dont have to reach behind the speaker to dial volume up or down , it works awesome ...I also use in ears and love those to but sometimes In a small venue I want to feel connected more and this does the trick. Trust me if you want an amazing floor monitor as a drummer that you will easily hear this is it , PLENTY of power to spare ! save your time and alot of money and just grab this ts308 ! Oh and it has great bass response for an 8 inch speaker ! Cant say enough what a bargain this is...just get it !

    These are not going to shake the room. But they aren't going to break your back carrying them or break the bank buying a pair either. They look great sound great paired up with a small sub. These are great for a smaller space, cocktail hour. I have used for smaller events of about 50 people 2 each on a qsc k-sub and they sounded clear and full. When at the house, I use 1 as a dj monitor for my mixing, and they have a nice true sound not too punchy or too high. They are light and small so they work great to add some fill for larger events, if that ever happens again, sorry writing this in Covid-19 quarantine times. Only negative I would say is the finish on the back. It gets marked up easy and look dirty or dusty with fingerprints. But not a deal breaker for me.

    I originally purchased the Alto TX8 (which may be discontinued) as a booth monitor for my resident DJ gig. They had a house system, but no booth monitor for mixing, so I figured at 10 pounds, that it would be easy to carry to the club every week, since I wasn't going to leave it there. I soon figured out that it was just as good sounding as my OLD 15 inch passive cabinets that only made 150 watts RMS.

    I went to guitar center and wanted to purchase another one to use as my main rig, and they kept trying to up-sell me to a $400 EV, or $700 QSC 8 inch, if I were to stay in that size range. I said no, I was setting it up with an external crossover and pairing them with 18 inch JBL subs, and told them, "hey, I don't need them to have much low end, because I will be supplying all of the bass from the subs, and these only need to project the highs." They continued to talk trash about the Alto, stating that they don't project as far, and they don't have much clarity.

    I had done dozens of weddings, proms, homecomings with this setup and if you know how to use a crossover properly, its pumps out great sound. Even just straight out of the box with no signal processing, they sounded great straight out of the mixer, but were only good enough for small gigs. I was pushing the limits with the TX8's, since I recently downsized to 12 inch powered subs, and began pairing the speakers with a smaller, but more powerful (on paper) sub. But they still sounded great.

    I hadn't looked into new speakers since I was pretty happy with my current setup. I started looking online, and automatically looked towards the Alto line. A lot of "professionals" will tell you to get QSC or the most expensive speaker, because price equals quality. But, I researched the TS series and was intrigued, not only because of the price point, but because of the projected power output.

    On paper, these put out A LOT of power for a little 8 inch speaker. Although, it is twice the weight of the TX8, the general knowledge is, the heavier the driver and magnet on a speaker, the more power it can handle. So I purchased a pair, and I have not been disappointed.

    I have only been able to DJ two gigs with them so far, a Christmas party and a Wedding reception both for 200 guests, and they had plenty of range. Again, I have them paired with 12 inch powered subs, and I contemplated running them with an external crossover to take some of the "lows" load off of the tops. I didn't have time to test them out at home so I just went to the venue really early and tested the performance of the speaker combo before the actual gig.

    Lets just say I left the crossover in the car, and I haven't looked back. I have the speaker gains set at 12 o'clock and the master from my mixer at barely 1/3 power, and the speaker sounds phenomenal. I turned off the subs and ran the TS308's alone and they could pump out some great sound. I haven't even been able to really push the limits of them either since it's been well more than enough for both venues, but I could seriously consider running them at a wedding as standalone speakers.

    I have not seen these clip yet, so I do not know for sure if they are actually capable of the 1000 watts RMS that they're rated, but for a mobile DJ, they are AMAZING. AND, they have a pole clamp in the back so you can make the speaker stay in place. No more speaker turning from being bumped or the bass shaking the speaker to face the wrong direction.

    I literally have nothing bad to say about these.

    So, I was unhappy with the sound quality of the speakers, but my situation is probably VERY different than most people's situations. I work outdoors a LOT at county fairs and I found these small, very lightweight speakers sounded great as monitors on stage (I bought three and returned two. Kept one as a floor monitor) but when I needed them to be my main speakers up on tripods the sound came out the back of the speakers, they sounded much to bass-ie for my taste and I had to turn off 85% of the bass on my three-knob tuning to get rid of the bass sound that resonated out of the speakers. HOWEVER< understand - I am a comedy hypnotist, not playing music through them. Therefore I really wanted a strong mid-range - which I get from other brands of 10" speakers and 12" speaker cabinets without the bass coming out the back of the speaker. They are NOT bad speakers. (I did keep one of the three I bought) and I loved the weight and size of them. I just constantly felt like I wanted to tune them for the audience, and I normally do not feel that way with other speakers I have owned. For DJs or a small band, they will probably be fine but for my talking applications outside quite often, they just didn't work for me or sound right. I have used larger Alto speakers and found them not to have this same problem, but I did not use those speakers outdoors when I tried them, only indoors. You decide. Buy them and keep the boxes for two weeks and see what they sound like for you!
