Worthy materials

Alpine's carbon fiber-reinforced plastic woofer cones provide next-level sturdiness but are also agile enough to handle the complexities of the midrange. The big multi-roll rubber surround contributes to reduced distortion for a cleaner sound. Separate silk dome tweeters provide all the precise details that bring out the character of the instruments and vocals. If you've never experienced Alpine sound quality, these speakers are a great place to start.

Grilles are not included; the factory grilles should be suitable for most applications. Optional grilles are available for custom installations.

Features

Woofer Mounting: Without an adapter, the woofers fit standard 6-3/4" applications. Given their required cutout, they will also fit standard 6-1/2" applications without an adapter, but new screw holes must be drilled. Using the included adapter brackets they can be mounted in a variety of standard 3-hole 6-1/2" applications, Ford 4-hole 6-1/2" applications, and non-standard 6-3/4" applications, without any modification.

Tweeter Mounting Options: The tweeters can be flush mounted using the supplied flush mount brackets and rings. Once mounted, the tweeters can swivel approximately 20° for optimum imaging. The tweeters can also be mounted in factory tweeter locations behind factory tweeter grilles using the supplied stealth mounting brackets. (The stealth brackets have a multitude of tabs used for different mounting configurations. When not needed, the tabs can easily be removed. The factory location measurements in the chart below are generally minimums, with some tabs removed.)

Crossovers: The Alpine S-S65C features low-pass crossovers attached to each woofer's input terminal and high-pass crossovers in-line with the tweeters' speaker wires.

Q
I have been looking at front component speakers for my 2021 Bronco and am wondering what the difference is between these and some of the Kicker speakers that are showing as a fit. Basically, the Alpines are saying that they won't fit but a few other 6.5 in other brands are showing as a fit and I'm trying to figure out the difference?
chad and ciara  May 04, 2023
1 answer
A
Greetings and thank you both for your question. Different manufactures will have different mounting depths, and heights. Some speakers can fit in factory locations, some not. The reason these Alpine are not listed as fitting is the amount of room you have under the factory grill covers. These are too tall to fit under those grills. Roughly by 15/100ths of an inch.
hogan  May 05, 2023 (Staff)
Q
Do these 6.5" come with grilles? There are none pictured.
joseph  Apr 11, 2023
1 answer
A
Good eye, Joe! You are correct, the Alpine S-S65C S-series 6 1/2" components do not come with grilles included, as in most applications they will be installed inside a factory door panel. This could jam you up with a custom install, or a situation where these are being installed in a roll-bar location on a modern Jeep where you need a speaker with a grill included. No cause for concern here, as Alpine has us covered with the KTE-S65G accessory speaker grill in the link below which can be purchased in addition to the Alpine components. These fit Alpine S-S65 coaxial and S-S65C component car speakers. https://www.crutchfield.com/p_500KTES65G/Alpine-KTE-S65G.html

Q
What Frequency are the HPF set on the woofers?
chris  Mar 08, 2023
1 answer
A
Alpine does not list the Frequency being used by the high-pass crossovers in-line with the tweeters' speaker wires nor the frequency being used by the low-pass crossovers attached to each woofer's input terminal. Their support does not have that information either. The only way we know to find it is to use an RTA analyzer while playing a series of test tones.

Q
Are the tweeter crossover decibel adjustable, -3 , 0 , +3 ?

A
The crossovers are not adjustable.

Q
Will these fit in a 2003 GMC Sierra 2500HD crew cab front doors? When I look at the mounting specs compared to what Crutchfield says, it's within those specs but it continues to say "Will NOT fit in the front doors". I am not concerned with the tweeter fitting (that is a separate issue), I'm concerned with why the speaker fitment guide isn't matching up on Crutchfield's end.
moneypit  Feb 23, 2023
1 answer
A
Although these are described as a 6-1/2" speaker, when measured in comparison to other brands, they fit more like a 6-3/4" speaker. This becomes an issue for your vehicle because the Metra 82-3002 bracket that we carry for the doors does not support 6-3/4" speaker diameter. That aside, these speakers would very likely fit, but would require you to fabricate your own mounting bracket.

Q
Which model of the Alpine tweeters does this system come with? And do all Alpine tweeters offer a swivel (tilt) mount? TIA!
gary  Dec 10, 2022
1 answer
A
Those components come with the S-S10TW, which we do sell separately. The two pairs of Alpine tweeters we sell on their own do come with swiveling mounts.

Q
Hi there, are they able enough to play with a Honda Civic EXL sedan 10th gen with stock radio? Whatâ??s the ohm on them? Thank you Crutchfields.
a  Jul 17, 2022
1 answer
A
These are a fit in your 16-18 EXL sedan physically A G, no problem. You can use a pair up front and a pair in the rear to replace all 4 factory tweeter locations too! These fantastic Alpine S-S65C are a 4 ohm speaker, and you can use them with the stock radio as well. These will perform better when you add the amp later on too as you can send them a max of 80 watts RMS. The silk tweeter on these is super smooth, and they are a MAJOR upgrade over factory speakers. You'll be impressed A G!

Q
Hi there, are they able enough to play with a Honda Civic EXL 10th gen with stock radio? How many ohm are they? Thank you Crutchfields.
ama  Jul 17, 2022
1 answer
A
These speakers are 4-ohm impedance. They are designed to work with relatively low power and should work well with your factory Civic EX-L system. However, as with most speakers, these will sound better with more power provided by an aftermarket amplifier. For more help with this project, please give our advisors a call at 1-800-324-9695.

Q
Can I bridge these to a 4 channel amp?
ryan  Jun 14, 2022
2 answers
A
You can bridge with more power then 80wrms just need to be careful not to push to hard and setting crossover a bit higher will also help. it is big bass/cone movement & low power that kills speakers.
mark  Feb 26, 2023
A
Greetings Ryan, and thank you for your question. I'm going to guess you are asking if you can bridge a 4 channel amplifier to a 2 channel and then run those to the Alpine S-S65C speakers. As long as the bridged output of the amplifier is 80 watts or less, you can.
hogan  Jun 14, 2022 (Staff)
Q
Would these work with a Kicker Key 200.4 Amp. It automatically detects the needed crossover, so you don't need the built-in crossovers in the tweeters. Is there a way to turn them off/remove the inline crossovers?
alexander  Jun 09, 2022
1 answer
A
These are not designed to be used without the in-line crossovers. If you are planning on amping the tweeters and woofers separately, you should still employ the crossovers in-line with the tweeters.

Q
Are they run in parallel for a 2 ohm load? Alpine offers a 4 channel amplifier at 80 watts rms however that is at 2ohms.
rtr  Mar 05, 2022
1 answer
A
Each individual woofer/tweeter set is designed to be powered by a single amplifier channel, and the set is rated at 4 ohms. Other configuration options are possible, but this is the typical setup for component speakers in a vehicle environment.

Q
i installed them but tweeters have way more sound than the woofers and there is no bass. any ideas?
hannad  Jan 25, 2022
1 answer
A
You may be able to turn down the tweeters. It's been a while since I installed them, some have a adjustment, lowering the db of the tweeter. Also, check where you installed the woofers, the enclosure can't have too much air. Hope that helps.

hannad  Jan 25, 2022

A
Sorry, but I didn't buy them for the bass. I actually have bass blockers on mine. I am running a Kenwood 4 channel amp hooked up to them with the bass blockers and basically using them as just mids and highs. I have an 12" Alpine type R sub with a 500 watt Alpine mono amp. It comes together and sounds really good the way I have it hooked up. It's enough for me at age 48. Lol.

Q
If I wanted to switch out the woofer later down the road with something different would I have to replace the tweeter and in-line crossovers as well?
luke  Oct 06, 2021
1 answer
A
It is recommended that you change the tweeter as well because each component speakers uses a different crossover frequencies which makes it just about impossible to prevent a dead range in the middle of the audio.

Q
Is it best to plug the tweeters into the woofer or plug them into the factory tweeter harness?
steven  Mar 22, 2021
1 answer
A
My install was based on simplicity (or laziness), so I used the vehicles factory wiring. One advantage to using the factory wiring may be that if you remove the door panel, the procedure is the same as before; if a mechanic works on your truck and takes off the door panel, for instance, the manual matches your truck. This may not be important for everyone, of course. My bias is that I worked at a Toyota dealership for 15 years. I inserted new pins onto the alpine tweeter wires and into the factory connector. A cut and splice would probably work just fine, though. An advantage would be that I still have the pins on the factory tweeters and could install them back into the doors if I swapped them back out. I doubt I would do that unless the new truck owner had plans for a new system.
michael  Mar 22, 2021
Q
Will I need to splice in a bass blocker for the tweeters?
shawn  Mar 16, 2021
1 answer
A
No. If you look at the "Product Highlights" and "Whats in the box" sections you will see that it comes with 37" tweeter wires with built in crossovers. All you have to do is use that wire which has connectors already on both ends. No splicing necessary. There is however a lot of wire available so if you want to cut it down a bit and get rid of some excess then you will need to add new connectors.

Is the rating of 80W RMS per speaker or the total for both speakers (i.e. 40W RMS per speaker)?

80 watts per side. So, a single woofer/tweeter combo can take 80 watts RMS per side.

Hi Jaden, thank you for your question. Technically, you do not need to use the tweeters with this component set. However, if you are only interested in a midrange driver for your vehicle, we may have some better options available. For more personalized assistance and recommendations, chat with us online or by phone at 1-800-324-9695. An Advisor will be happy to discuss your setup, and give you a personalized recommendation based on your needs and application!

A
No you don't have to use the tweeters. They plug into the component speaker with the supplied filter. Will work either way.
amy  Feb 25, 2020
A
Yes, this is a component set, which means the mid range and low level sounds will come out of the main speaker and your highs will come from the tweeter! Your sound will be dull and muddy sounding without the tweeters! My suggestion would be to find a speaker with a built in tweeter if you are limited on space.

It looks like these have in line crossovers for the tweeter only. Does this mean that the woofer does not require them? I'd like to put them in a mazda 6, which has a factory woofer and tweeter wired in parralel. I'd like to run them from the factory head unit.
aaron  Jun 02, 2019

In parallel. The main/sub has 4 connections. Input from the head or Amp and output to the tweeter. In theory, the sub could function on its own if you did not connect the tweeter.
james  Jun 10, 2019

I ran mine from the factory head unit it worked fine . The woofer doesn't have a crossover just the tweeters. I would make sure the ohms rating for the speakers you are replacing is the same as the new ones.
