Arrived with space bar broken/ Updated: tried another unit without broken spacebar
Poor value considering the $160 price, which is higher than average, even for a premium keyboard. Bare bones packaging with poor cushioning. Came fresh out of the box with space bar broken. As can be seen from attached pics. Overall build quality felt poor -- 'D' key was noticeably higher than other keys around it, for example. This keyboard's designers should continue to pay attention to build quality and not just assume that the factory they contracted assembly out to will do everything properly. Although Wirecutter previously recommended this keyboard, as of August 2019 my own recommendation is that this keyboard is a poor value.Update (increased from 1 to 4 stars): I decided to give the code keyboard one more try and re-ordered it. This time the unit I got had no broken keys. I felt the fit and construction was better, and duly upgraded my previous review. Some negatives still persisted: some keys, such as the 'k' key or the left 'ctrl' key made a barely audible high-pitched "twang" sound whenever I depressed and then released them. Moreover, the code keyboards overall construction isn't as solid as the $30 cheaper Filco majestictouch2. That said, if backlighting is your thing, you might wanna choose the Code over Filco, otherwise I think Filco is the better value.
