for five years, Ember has been dealing with a disease that was slowly wasting her away. A bucket list trip to Ireland takes her unexpectedly to Faerie. She gains the ability to eat, but risks so much more, as right away folks take her into custody and threaten her. Ember is then viewed as the fulfillment of a prophecy to bring about a future king. Ironically, the place where Ember finally might have a chance to survive is the place she is threatened with death and worse than death. Where she finds love, she faces those willing to rape, or those wanting to not take a chance. Will the Fae and Ember lose everything? More adventures ahead in this epic story cycle. Very interesting, entertaining premise, cool Fae elements, and fun characters and adventure! Ember is ill with something that is unknown; she decides to go to Ireland, where she ends up in a portal to the Fae Realm. In the Fae Realm, it turns out Ember is supposedly part of some prophecy, so Ember finds herself at the start of a wild journey. Lots of craziness going on! Exciting and intriguing! Fun danger! Crazy Fae! There’s lots of scenarios developing in this book that Ember needs to arise too. Love that Ember is a kick booty female! Along for the adventure is Fae Rafferty; he’s on the broody side, which I love! He too kicks booty! Love the dynamic between Ember and Raffe! The story is mostly in Ember’s POV, but we do get some chapters with Raffe. This book doesn’t give the full story; got that cliffhanger ending, so you’ll need to continue on for the full story. I’m super excited for the next one!

This is an amazing start to a new series. Ember is dying and decides to take a trip because why not right? Little does she realize that her midnight stroll is going to change her life forever. Rafferty is definitely a book boyfriend, and was a very pleasant surprise. This book is full of mystery and suspense that will keep you turning the pages.
