Product Description

Dark Souls: The Board Game is a cooperative dungeon crawl board game for 1-4 players. To win the game, players must work together tactically to learn how to defeat enemies before finally confronting the boss. Players will find specific attack patterns and weaknesses of the enemies, but they will have to be careful. If a player's character dies, the game does not end, but starting over comes at a cost. Each time a character falls in combat, the whole party must return to the bonfire, and all enemies reset. Use your resources sparingly, learn quickly, and prepare to die.

Prepare to Die!

To prevent the coming of darkness, a curse has been unleashed upon humanity. You are the Chosen Undead, Bearers of the Curse, and it is upon you that the fate of this world rests. Will you forever join the Soul of Cinder and prolong the torment or usher in an Age of Humanity where the curse of undeath is at last lifted?

About the Game

Dark Souls: The Board Game is a strategically challenging, deeply immersive combat exploration game set in the Dark Souls universe. Players choose from a number of character classes and explore dangerous locations full of monsters, treasure, and deadly boss fights.

The Core Game contains:

  • 27 Highly Detailed Plastic Miniatures
  • 9 Double-sided Tiles
  • 4 Character Boards
  • 64 Health and Stamina
  • 15 Dice
  • 121 Tokens
  • 252 Cards
  • 8 Tracker Dials

Massive Replayability

With multiple difficulty modes and a high level of replayability, this is a game designed to be deep enough to satisfy hardcore tabletop gamers whilst remaining accessible to newer players.

With no fixed scenario layouts, it's as simple as choosing the direction to explore, placing a new tile down and flipping a card from the Encounter deck.

Each time you decide where to go, you will experience a new danger as you explore, with each new location a real risk to your hard-won progress. If you die, then you drop everything you have collected and reappear at the nearest bonfire. So do you return to the bonfire to rest and spend Souls to strengthen up, but in doing so fully reset the locations? Or do you press on and pray that the next encounter isn't beyond your capabilities. After all, the next location may contain a clue to the Boss and how to defeat them...

Dark Souls: The Board Game - Darkroot Expansion

The Darkroot is a lush but foreboding region of Dark Souls. Scarecrows, giant stone warriors, and the very plants of the forest stand sentinel to hinder any heroes foolish enough to brave this realm. Darkroot is the final resting place of Artorias, a deadly revenant and relentless swordsman who is guarded eternally by his companion, the Great Grey Wolf Sif. New Dark Souls: The Board Game adventures await in the Darkroot Expansion, with new enemies, new encounter cards utilising those enemies, and new treasure cards for characters to discover along their adventures. Components for two new main boss encounters further enhance players’ options and provide fresh challenges.

Dark Souls: The Board Game - Asylum Demon Expansion

As you pace the halls and corridors of the Undead Asylum it can be found to be a lonely and quiet place, moribund and uninviting. Here dwells a demon capable of lethal rage, its mind still ruled by virulent thoughts. Beware this foe. For all that you will fight stronger, more cunning, and more agile opponents, complacency will hasten your end at its hands all the same. Can you triumph over the Asylum Demon, or will your corpse soon be another to roam the Asylum with the hollowed? The Asylum Demon Expansion adds new encounter cards which provide larger battles than ever before in Dark Souls: The Board Game. The tremendous scale of these encounters creates a whole new level of peril for you and your party. Are you up to the challenge?

Dark Souls: The Board Game - Character Expansion

Brave the dangers of the Dark Souls world with six new characters for Dark Souls: The Board Game. Take control of the agile thief, faithful cleric, bloody mercenary, fiery pyromancer, arcane sorcerer, or determined deprived. Seek out the most coveted suits of armour and ready yourselves for the dangers that lie ahead.

And many more!

Dark Souls: The Board Game has a number of other expansions, including the Black Dragon Kalameet Expansion, Gaping Dragon Expansion, Vordt of the Boreal Valley Expansion, and the Darkroot Basin and Iron Keep Tile Set. New content is regularly released to keep even the most skilled adventurers on their toes.

    Could be repetitive
I really liked my first playthrough of this game. Monster variety is a bit low, but the scenarios were fun and the boss fights funner. Loot was a fun factor. If you die or rest you start over so it could be repetitive. Might avoid if that's an issue.

5.0 out of 5 stars New gameplay
Reviewed in the United States on August 22, 2023
Pros- it has new gameplay features that make the game more engaging and every encounter uniquie.
Example is encounter cards can have specific rules and extra rewards for completing trials like (break all barrels and you can refresh your luck token). Also some encounters can use 3 game tiles and you just have to survive to the end of tile 3 instead of having to kill all enemies, Stuff like that.

They also added a new event deck that you draw as rewards and can apply to future encounters to add a little challange or suprise bonus.
emample: (next encounter all enemies apply poision, but you get 2 extra souls per player)
(Next encounter you can re-roll an attack or defense for free)

Cons- the loot deck is the same as the DS core set but with the the class specific loot from the Characters expansion.

Also it technically is cross compatible with old sets but all the new encounter cards are only for this set. Its not like the old expansions where they have cards that incorprate other enemies from iron keep or deeproot depths Etc.
