V.F.Mason always loved reading books and had quite a few fights with her mama over the genre she liked (romance, duh!) She studied filmmaking and thought that would feed her desire for stories, but that didn't happen.
Finally, when she was tired of all those voices in her head, she sat down and wrote a book. It was a huge decision to make and she thanks her friends and family for supporting her in it.
When she is not writing, she can be found with her friends doing all sorts of crazy things or reading recent romance books that were written by her favorite authors.

TW: very graphic rape scenes child abuse, rape of children. Very Dark.

Book 1:) This one started off strong I enjoyed the obsession stalker aspect but then it became kinda boring and idk i just started to lose interest. Dragged.

book 2): in the duet and i was bored and skim read alot, the storyline became kinda cheesey corny also we have way too many POV's ugh. I felt bored.

This book is wonderfully written and Damian and Sapphire's story is a passionate and convincing tale of love and possession.
I loved these characters from the first page right until the end. They were captivating, intense, and sometimes ruthless. But so very enjoyable!
VF Mason writes strong Alpha men and the women who love them unconditionally. She has created an alluring and fascinating story!

A Monster Who Loved Me is a box set of the duet series 'Sociopath' by V.F. Mason. This tells Damian and Sapphire's story. It's quite the dark, twisty and gripping emotional tale that takes the readers on a ride. It's two stories (duet) in one, full of twists and turns, angst, drama, passion , revenge, dark romance, secrets and yes, there is love. This duet truly is intense and entertaining. Damian and Sapphire's story will have all dark romance lovers in Rapture because this is that good. Without spoiling anything, go into the story expecting the unexpected.

I've come to the conclusion that there's something seriously wrong with me LOL! I know I'm a dark & twisty girl as dark is my favorite but A Monster Who Loved Me totally gives dark & twisty new meaning, and I couldn't get enough. It's a duet in the same place so there was no waiting on the conclusion to these folks' journey, and I read both in one sitting yesterday without doing anything else until I had done so (luckily I'm a super fast reader). The two titles are Sociopath Obsession (Book 1) & Sociopath's Revenge (Book 2) which pretty much tells you what they're about. I'm not giving anything away because I'm telling you, the shock value is so much better when you don't know what you're getting yourself into, plus the twists coming in hot are even more fun when having no clue. I would advise that you pay attention to the trigger warnings since they are in spades & even I had a moment or two to pause & catch my breath. Anyway, I know this review is vague but you know, I want those brave enough to experience it like I did since I went in blindly! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

A sociopath romance had never been so good. I devoured these two stories in one sitting because I couldn't put it down. It's intense, sexy, gripping and at times I wondered if there was something wrong with me because I was enjoying it way too much.

I'm a huge fan of dark reads. Don't get me wrong there is a line of what I will and will not read, but I like to toe that line at times, takes a reader out of the fluffy lovey dovey mode that you get from most romances. This was definitely on the dark side, with a very heavy subject matter, not in the graphic details, just FYI. Sapphire and Damian's story was just ok. This was written with flashbacks, so a chapter in the present, then next would be back in the past, this got to be very annoying, and at a time or two a bit confusing. I give this 4 stars.

3.75 stars!!

Welll this plot is something right up my alley. The darker the better! I’m obsessed with this genre. I wanted to love this story so much. Book 1 was enjoyable ! I was engaged and intrigued. I really could have done without book 2 with a better epilogue to the end of the first book I would have been a happy camper. Book 2, brought me in circles, left me confused and wasn’t a fan of the added characters. There were too many damaged pasts to ensure every character was given depth and the right amount of details.

I will most likely keep tabs on this author because of the writing content but right now I’m good not reading another book of theirs so soon.

So I absolutely loved this storyline! It was filled with tragedy (pay attention to the trigger warnings), but it served its purpose. Now why not 5 stars? Well it honestly it has to do with the writing style, as there were many times it didn’t feel cohesive and I had to go back and re-read things as I assumed I missed something. I’m okay with flashbacks and memories, but this jumped so much that sometimes it was hard to tell if it was still in the past or present (I eventually figured out the writing style); and then the present seemed like it has been fast forwarded and you missed the first part of the present situation.
For example, Spoilers ahead……

When Kristina and Sapphire were taken, there was no mention of the car ride or how they ended up in front of Damien. There was a flashback and then the present started back in front of Damien, but didn’t say where they were (later it was noted it was the dungeon). It truly felt like you ran to the bathroom while watching a movie and came back to a new scene, trying to figure out what you missed.
There were also some plot holes, inconsistencies, and typos that really didn’t make sense. For one how could everyone else recognize Dom, but the two brothers didn’t? During the initial encounter they mentioned it was because he was wearing sunglasses, but after that nothing. He met them again with no mention of a disguise or something that blocked his features and yet they didn’t recognize he resembled Damien; yet everyone else did almost immediately. While I noticed his daughter was named after their mom based on the tombstones, but there was no previous mention/discussion that Sapphire would have known this when she named her daughter (it wasn’t even mentioned).
Early in the book Damien said only S and John were left, but then later it was noted that both S and Richard were still left.
I really thought it was odd that Damien couldn’t identify S by his voice alone. He said it was because they never had conversations, yet in the beginning it was talked about how he would ask him for food and at times things needed for his brother, so they definitely had conversations.
Also it was never mentioned what happened to their dad, although death was eventually implied. It was just odd that it was said their mom was raped while their dad was held down, but never mentioned if he was killed or died later like their mom.
Also who was this elite team their dad worked for and why did it take them so long to find them? When the rescuers said how the organization didn’t know who they were going up against when they kidnapped them, I thought they were some powerful group; but if that was the case I would have assumed it wouldn’t have taken them so long to find them.
Regarding the epilogue, I felt like I was kind of left hanging. There was no mention of Dom again or even Rosa and what happened to them after all those years. I would have loved to find more about their relationship as well as him and Damien’s.
As much as the story is about revenge, it kind of fell through at the end. I would have loved to hear about how the brother’s has been receiving their fair of prison justice, in the same way they treated their victims. I know it is sick, but I would have loved to hear how they are victimized daily/multiple times a day and kept alive for years of brutality and how they are kept from escaping through suicide. That would have been the ultimate revenge as offer these guys are tortured and then granted the mercy of death, yet they torture their victims for years. For once I would like to read a story where the bad guy gets the same treatment for years, even more than their victims. To the point they pray for death daily.
I will give kudos to the author for not erasing nightmares and panic attacks after everyone’s trauma, like so many other authors do; often acting as though sex magically erases everything. I also like the”virgin” being truly inexperienced and not becoming some porn star overnight; I like how both her and Dom’s kiss were realistic in this aspect. Overall I will look into other books from this author. I just hope they flow better and it doesn’t feel like I’m missing pieces of the story throughout

I am so glad that this duet came as one so I didn’t have to wait before digging into book 2. This story was packed full of twists and turns, secrets revealed one layer at a time, and love strong enough to come through. It is a story of revenge, but not the expected kind. It is about growth and acceptance, and forgiveness.

In book one, Sociopath’s Obsession, we have a dark, twisted tale of Damian and his demons who is infatuated (obsessed) with Sapphire. Sapphire is a strong lead heroine who is the perfect complement to Damian’s darkness. She sticks with him through this story, fighting for and with Damian as he conquers his deepest, darkest demons from childhood. His passion for Sapphire is strong, so strong, in fact, that you can feel it. These two have so many crevices, angles, sides that you can’t help but turn the pages to find out what you will uncover next.

In book two, Sociopath’s Revenge, secrets are revealed and we meet Dominic, the “lost” brother who fought even harder to survive their childhood to become the ruthless character he is. Together, the three of them grow, all the while Damien and Sapphire continue to bring the heat. This book is even darker and more intense that book one, with some heavy material written that could be difficult for some and a trigger for others, but the details are dispersed just enough to not delve too deep into it to overwhelm you, but enough to give more dimension to the story.

This duet was a well-written story of overcoming demons and becoming the person you were meant to be despite the rough childhood you were forced into. It is about revenge and the power of love and support. I would recommend this one for fans of dark, twisted, steamy stories. But, beware, this story delves into things that could be a bit triggering but, nonetheless, necessary for the story and handled with care. Heed the warnings in the beginning.

A Monster Who Loved Me is a fantastic boxset. This is the Sociopath's Obsession and the Sociopath's Revenge all in one book. I loved this one so much. I could not get enough of either book. You are just going to love binge reading Sapphire and Damien so hard. If you love darker reads then this one is for you.

Sociopath's Obsession

Sociopath's Obsession is a fantastic read. This one will keep you guessing and on your toes throughout the read. You are going to want to read Sociopath's Revenge as soon as you can. When I say you are kept on your toes you don't know who Damien and Dominic really are. Sapphire is so strong with everything she faces. Her pull to Damien is so strong from the moment they meet. I love how Damien fights some of his demons when it comes to Sapphire and getting his revenge for his childhood. You feel his obsession for Sapphire so strong and see so many sides of that man. This ends with a cliffy that will have you begging for more. I could not put this down and ready to dig into book 2 now.

Sociopath's Revenge

Sociopath's Revenge is fantastic. Like the first book Sociopath's Obsession you are kept on your toes when it comes to Damien, Sapphire and Dominic. I love the how hot Damien and Sapphire are even after everything. You see such a wonderful side of Damien. Sapphire is a fantastic mom doing everything she can to survive. I love all the twist and turns that is Dominic and Damien. This makes me want to jump right into Dominic's series and see what happens with him. I love Damien and Sapphire together so much. This is one I could not put down

I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie's Book Reports.

He finds me at the masquerade ball. Handsome. Dangerous. Mysterious. His eyes trail after me. His voice mesmerizes me. His every touch burns me. An enigma I cannot help but be attracted to. A prince straight from the fairytales. Only it was all a lie. Because behind the mask hides a monster who came for revenge. And now he is obsessed with me.

This book includes Sociopath's Obsession and Sociopath's Revenge.

This is the story of Damian and Sapphire. It is a dark story so you will want to heed the warnings in the beginning of the book. I have read almost everything that V.F. Mason has written but somehow I have not read the Sociopath Duet so I was super happy to get to read it. I do not really want to talk about the story as I am afraid that I will give something away. This story has the perfect anti-hero and you are going to love to hate him. He is cold and ruthless and one of the most closed off characters every. But deep down he is loving and protective. These two meet at a masquerade ball and have an instant connection. The chemistry between them is off the charts. They way she feels about him is an instant connection. Could she have met "the one" at a masquerade ball? You have to read to find out. This book is a really great dark romance duet that you are lucky enough to have in one boxset instead of having to wait on books to release. I loved every single second of this collection and couldn't put it down.

An intense and riveting read, this dark and gripping romance was one of my first books by this author. She slayed me with her brilliant story telling and I was immediately draw in right from the beginning. The hero is the ultimate anti-hero and is the type of character that you hate to love, but you just can’t help it. He can be cold and ruthless, distant and closed off, yet loving and protective. The heroine of this dark mafia romance encounters the hero at a masquerade ball and the two have an instant connection complete with sizzling chemistry. For her, it is almost insta-love in the sense that she wonders if he is “the one” after their first encounter. She is a relatively strong and resilient heroine with a sense of what is right and wrong. Caught in a web of suspense, action, and intrigue, these two characters embark on a journey that is full of twists and turns that will keep the reader on the edge of their seat.

***RECEIVED FREE ARC FOR HONEST REVIEW***

This book is the first and second book of the sociopath duet.
I could not stop and nothing is as ever what it seems.

Sociopath is after Sapphire and he will do anything to get her. Without giving too much away, Sociopath wants revenge and this leads him to Sapphire who is just trying to live her life.

I found myself understanding Sapphire and how caring she was but at the same time, she annoyed me. I just find her rubbing me the wrong way at times.
Sociopath was dark, he was on a mission. An anti-hero with a tortured past and despite his dark aura, he was vulnerable.

This book was a mind game, it is intense and full of drama. The characters are over the top but the whole vibe of this book matches the characters perfectly. This isn't my first read by V.F Mason, her books are filled with twist and turns, which keep you on the edge of your seats. A Monster who loved me is no different.

Told mostly from two points of view, this story is about Sociopath, a serial killer, and the women he determines is his. It’s a dark story, with plot twists and mind trips that was as fantastic the second time around as it was when I read it a few years ago. The author is a master at layering the plot so just when you think you understand what is happening, you come to realize you really don’t. The depth of the characters and what makes them tick is revealed chapter by chapter. How can a woman learn to love a monster? Read and find out! This book isn’t as dark as some of V.F. Mason’s other stories, but any book dealing with a sociopathic serial killer can’t really be called anything but dark.

This is both delicious parts of the Sociopath Duet in one book so there is no cliffhanger and you get the complete story without having to grab another book.

This is an amazing complete duet, which is Damian and Sapphire’s story. These two cross paths at a masquerade ball, and Damian is a mysterious enigma, who is dangerous, cold ruthless, and sexy, while Sapphire is strong and resilient. There is an intense connection between these two when they cross paths. This is a well written story which is dark, intense, thrilling, and with suspense, action, romance, intrigue, revenge, passion, and love, which leads to a riveting and addictive page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

A Monster Who Loved Me by VF Mason is a box set of the duet series 'Sociopath'. I went crazy for Sociopath duet and excited to see it has been put in on box set. If you like me like the harsh alpha male who becomes obsessed with his women but is so gooey inside for her when they are alone. This is the story of Damian and Sapphire. This is my second time reading this Duet and it is one that you will want to keep bring out to re-read it. To me it is that good! This is also a great way to get a 'taste' of this author's writing if you are new to her. Loved it!

Stephannie's 4-Star Review:

I really was hooked. What is not to love a sociopath who kills those who hurt him as a child? It is intense and full of twists and turns. It was always her for him and he ensured it was always him for her also. He might have kidnapped her but in the end, he gave her a choice to stay or go. She had a choice and she choose him. I loved this one and enjoyed reading it. Towards the end, it dragged out a little but I loved it and would recommend reading this duet together in this set.

Wow, Wow, WOW!!!

Mason immersed me in a dark romance world I didn't want to get out of!

Strong character builds that made them larger than life. Totally immersive! I absolutely loved Sapphire.

I've read several novels by this author and this is no less intense, twisted and deliciously dark!

Let me tell you, I was glad I could read Sapphire and Damien's story back to back because I would have been an absolute wreck waiting for the second of the duet.

If you like dark, exciting, nail-biting romance, this should fit the bill!

I was thoroughly entertained.

I know I love dark and twisted books but A Monster Who Loved Me totally gives you an even darker read. I couldn't read this book fast enough. It's a duet so no cliffhanger and no waiting for the ending. There are two titles included in this book. Sociopath Obsession (Book 1) & Sociopath's Revenge (Book 2).
I'm tellin you don't know what you're getting yourself into with this story the twists and turns in this book are coming in fast and you have no clue. There are trigger warnings and I advise you to read them. If you love dark and twisted you will really enjoy this one.

Too dark for me

I like dark stuff but this one was too dark for me to finish. Without giving too much away I do think there should have been a warning that this story deals with children be trafficked/raped and there are flash backs which I did not enjoy reading. Aside from that, the whole "love" story made no sense. I guess I get that he became obsessed with her but then she just instantly falls in love with him despite the fact that he kidnapped her and he's a self proclaimed psycho? A little too unrealistic for me

Intense, dark, twisty and intoxicating Damian and Sapphire's story grabbed me and held me in its fierce hold right to the end. The tension is thick, the drama juicy, the suspense taut and the emotions potent as this smartly constructed tale entices you in, snares you in its captivating web and simply has you consumed with keeping those pages turning. Definitely had me on the edge and loving every minute of being there. This is my volitional, forthright review.

This duet is So dark, twisted and riveting!! Damian’s and Sapphire’s love story is full of mystery and suspense. So many twists and turns. The plot is intriguing, intense and so exciting. I was thoroughly hooked from the first to last page. There are secrets, lies, surprises and deception. Damian’s quest for revenge was equal to his obsessive love for Sapphire. I enjoyed this duet beyond words. If you like dark and twisted, this book is highly recommended.

This was a very interesting story that starts off dark and take you on a journey. Damien is definitely the typical dark sociopath. This story gets a bit confusing at times, but I think the author does a good job of wrapping up Damien's story in the end. I did like that both book one and two are together in this compilation, as I needed to know where the story went as I read. Good story.

I DNF at 70%. I skipped over most of the Dominic POVs. The first book was promising, but really head those TW. Normally not much bothers me, but the graphic detail this author went into with the child rape scenes were not needed. It was extra uncomfortable because you’d read a scene that was hot and then go to a child rape scene and it was just so uncomfortable. I would not recommend this book. I hate not finishing a book, but I dreaded reading this and had to move on.

This books started out fascinating and then quickly went downhill. Aside from the disturbing child rape scenes , the men in this book walk around declaring “Mine” like a seagull from Finding Nemo about “my woman”. The main characters had zero chemistry and the entire storyline was disjointed at best. I’ve read plenty of multi POV and timeline stories and this one just was not done well at all. The intimate scenes we felt awkward and amateurish.

This started off interesting but by the second half of this duet it fizzled out for me. I was really intrigued by Damian’s character but I just was not feeling the relationship between him and Sapphire. It felt like forced chemistry. There were so many different characters introduced in the last half of the book that it took away from Damian & Sapphire’s story. It is a bit predictable at times, but there are some nice twists along the way.

I absolutely loved this author’s book, The Land Where Sinners Atone, published in 2020. I realized later that this book was previously released in 2016 as The Sociopath Duet. That would explain why the writing seemed different to me because this was her older work, just released into one book. I was slightly disappointed, I’m hoping for better luck next time.

There is a lot of dark content concerning past childhood SA trauma. Check trigger warnings.

3.5* actually. The first book was beautiful and i loved the plot ,but after some twists and turns the plot was forced and the author tried to justify some actions using expressions like 'because i can' 😂 so when someone is kidnapping someone else you expect some explanation not phrases like 'why not?'
