About this ebook

Welcome to Hathaway House. Rehab Center. Safe Haven. Second chance at life and love.

Uncle Sam’s Navy wasn’t kind to Owen Powell. After he walked too close to a landmine, he was left with leg and back injuries and a rough road to regaining his health. His career is down the drain; his future is uncertain, and every day is a struggle toward better mental and physical health.

The last thing he expects to find is love in the midst of therapy at Hathaway House.

Penny Abigail has spent all her adult life trying to prove to her family that she’s strong enough after a lifetime of illnesses to live her life on her own terms. Although frail, she’s worked hard to get to where she’s at today. She has created several charities and hands out large sums of money to deserving organizations, including Hathaway House.

Meeting Owen wasn’t part of her plan, but she’s willing to run with it. The problem is convincing her overprotective family that the broken SEAL is good enough for her and is not just after her money …

Owen finally has his chance at Hathaway House and he doesn't expect to meet Penny who the more he gets to know the more he cares for her and she feels the same way, so while he focusses on getting better she continues to deal with her family who don't get why she gives money away to great causes instead of making more. I loved how Owen and Penny could relate to each other as Penny was a sickly child so has to take care of herself while Owen recovers from his injuries and are both a great influence on each other while wanting them to stand on their own two feet (no pun intended). This is a sweet read with some good laughs, food that always makes me hungry and characters who you would love to be your friends in real life! Nash sent Owen a picture of himself and his fiance plus he called to try and get Owen to apply to Hathaway House. Owen agreed and found himself on crutches walking into his new temporary home getting exhausted but filled with hope that he could improve this body he was left with after stepping to close to a landmine. This is his story and in it you find hope, love and honor abound. The people of Hathaway House are such givers and they understand pain. Again I find myself in a heart tugging story of such good people that I can't resist. There is always the doubting Thomas, some naysayers or/and a cynic thrown in for good measure but the good wins out and that's what this is all about. Great series and I can't wait to read about Percy's adventure coming soon.

This is the fifteenth book in the brilliant "Hathaway House" series, they are the type of book that make you want to slip into your dressing gown and comfy slippers and sit by the fireside to read. When Owen Powel received a message from his old SEAL buddy, Nash, he didn't realize how much his life was about to change. Owen had serious leg and back injuries from being to close to an exploding landmine, some of his buddies hadn't been so lucky. Unbeknown to Owen, Nash had put his name on the waiting list for Hathaway House rehabilitation centre and he was about to be transferred. Hathaway House was set up by Dani Hathaway and her father the Major, it was for the rehabilitation of military personnel and set out to treat its patients holistically, it employed just the right people to make this happen. Over the course of reading these books the staff at Hathaway House seem like friends, I feel as though I know each one of them. Owen was at a crossroads in his life, he had decisions to make as to what he was going to do now that the navy wasn't an option. When Penny Abigail entered his life he was attracted to her straight away, they just clicked. Penny looked frail but determined, she was the daughter of a multi millionaire but unlike the rest of her family she devoted her life to her charities, Hathaway House being one of them. When Penny's overprotective father got wind of a blossoming romance he was determined to put a stop to it, no gold digging, broken navy dropout was having his daughter.....Penny and Owen had other ideas, could they win her father round ? Dale Meyer has written yet another heart warming book and I look forward to reading Percy's story. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
