About this ebook

With barely enough time to recover from helping out Miles in London, Nico is off to Australia … and a secret mission involving a US covert operative …

When an American undercover operative’s sister goes missing in Australia, Nico has to find out if this is connected to the operative or to the sister’s own activist background. Apparently she made enemies easily.

Charlotte hadn’t wanted to make this trip in the first place, preferring to communicate her polarizing messages through writing her books now. But, bowing under pressure, she finally arrives in Australia, only to be attacked within minutes of reaching her hotel room for the night. After her rescue, she’s forced to dig deep into her family and public life to find the mastermind kidnapper and to stay safe as the bodies pile up.

Nothing makes sense in this twisted mission, but Nico is determined to keep Charlotte safe, even as things take a more personal turn …

This is book 8 in The Mavericks series and it features Charlotte and Nico. The suspense and adventure is fantastic. The problem is that there’s not enough action, which is the reason for my rating. It’s all about trying to put the pieces together to find out who all the players were and why she was kidnapped. Charlotte was pretty snippy most of the time. Nico is one of those guys who are even-keeled and full of compassion. I didn’t feel any romance until the moment it happened toward the end. I enjoyed reading this book but I would have liked it a whole lot more if there was more action like the rest of the books in this series.

I received a complimentary copy if this book from Booksprout and I am voluntarily reviewing it. This is one that was a little difficult to read. I don't know if it is me or what but the female protagonist was very antagonistic a great deal of the time. I get being cranky when tired and she wasn't getting quality sleep but man I just wanted to throw her several dirty looks myself like Nico and Keane did on occasion. Maybe it is me but it seems like several of the female protagonists of late are just annoying to me. That could be because I am older and if I was told to do something by my rescuers, I would. I did like the dual POV format that the book is written in. It usually helps me to connect with the characters but I really didn't feel anything for Charlotte. There is a sexy scene but it was highly glossed over and should not offend anyone but I would not recommend this to anyone under the age of 18.

I Love this series and I already love Nico from the previous book, so I was super excited with this one. It's a complicated black ops for Nico and his partner, it started with kidnapping and everything is getting more and more complicated since then, there's this big mystery that keeps me turning the page, there's action although not as much as I wanted to and there's some things that a bit bothering me and kinda unbelievable or too much for me, but then there's sweet moments full of sparks between Nico and Charlotte that really adorable, so...yeah it's enjoyable and easily to be devoured in just a short amount of time. Definitely a book for a fast-paced suspense romance lovers.
