Another great read in this series.
Lucas has joined in the search for military k9 dogs.
His journey takes him to Canada in search of Tophat.
He meets Tanya, who has lost close friends recently and the two realize her troubles and the dogs, might be related.

This is book 5 of The K9 Files. Retired SEAL Lucas is given the assignment of locating Top Hat, a War Dog, decommissioned and now missing. I have read the four books leading up to this book and each one just gets better than the last. Lucas is a hero dealing with so many things, including an ex and the plot is strong, with many, many twists and turns. Another page turner (the norm for Dale Mayer) and some lost sleep to find out how the book ends (also a norm for this wonderful author). Bravo!!

This is book 5 in the K9 Files series and it features Lucas and Tanya. In this story Lucas is looking for a military working dog who was mistakenly taken to Canada, with other rescue dogs, to be put up for adoption. Lucas goes to a little town in Alberta where his sister lives as well as Tanya. Tanya is the love of his life and they broke up because he wanted children and she didn’t.
There was NO smooth flow to this story line at all. The adventure with TopHat was great. The interaction between Lucas and Tanya was just plain weird. There was ZERO romance. Even the intimate scene towards the end felt too scripted. There was nothing sexy or appealing about either character, which was surprising because this author writes pretty great military romance. I felt more romance between Meg and Nathan, who are minor characters. I am a fan of this author but in my honest opinion, this book was disappointing. Great cover though!
