About this ebook

Welcome to Hathaway House. Rehab Center. Safe Haven. Second chance at life and love.

Navy SEAL Finn MacGregor arrives at Hathaway House not only with half of one leg but with a stoma, one that necessitates the use of a colostomy bag. While it’s nice to once again see his old friend Dani Hathaway and her father, the Major, it’s tough to feel like the least sexy man on the face of the earth. Especially after he meets the pretty nurse in charge of his care …

Fiona Smithers has seen practically everything when it comes to the human body, and Finn’s physical problems don’t faze her. Emotionally she’s wary though. Once before, one of her patients had confused the gratitude he felt for her as love. … That scenario left Fiona devastated to know her friendliness had been misunderstood. Whether deemed love or friendliness, those emotions directly effected that patient’s initial healing and then his setbacks of body as well as of heart and of mind, making her more determined not to run the same risks again. Yet, this time, she may not be able to help herself. She wants Finn in her life on a permanent basis, but, after seeing his obsession with her in his artwork, is that even possible?

Finn, like so many wounded vets before him, has come to Hathaway House at the urging of friends, to heal and to find his footing once again. This a book for all ages, a story rich in how relations and love are built, between a man and a woman, between friends, and professional colleagues. Finn has challenges both physical and emotional to overcome. The healing, through the efforts of the professionals who work at Hathaway and with the animals, take place in so many directions. This is the 6th book of the series and each book just gets better. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I fear we may run out of girls soon with all these alpha males coming through Hathaway House but this is a military romance so what the heck! Just kidding, I'm sure there will be plenty of females available. Normally I don't read books that tug on my heart strings however if I chose to do so then I want it written by Dale Mayer who knows just how to handle matters of the heart. (I am a nurse so am familiar with the tugging thing!) Fiona recently had an upsetting experience with a patient who felt he was in love with the pretty nurse who helped him so she is on guard to never let this happen again. Finn, a Navy Seal, has come to Hathaway House to further his healing and is fighting a battle of his own due to the loss of half his leg, the acquiring of a colostomy bag and other issues after a horrendous injury in the service. He is quite honest about how he feels as a man facing the world again with these problems. Hathaway House is a perfect blend of people to help with adjusting to a new life. This story deals with problems that can also be seen in everyday life and it does a really good job sorting through the things that can happen to anyone. Strong on love, loyalty and honor, this is another great story.

Yet another great read in this series. This time we have Finn, who is friends with Elliot and Dani. Having been injured with little muscle in his back and other problems, Finn is just trying to get some sort of life going where he can be Mobile and do some things for himself. Fiona Smithers is a nurse and is still trying to get over a patient who tried to make out he was with her in a relationship. The patient was ousted from Hathaway house but Fiona still feels a little guilt over it although it was not her fault. As she and Finn start to has a bit of a relationship, her asking about his drawings of her start warning alerts that he may be like the other patient and she starts to distance herself. A bit of an emotional in parts and you could feel the pain from both of them. Can Finn get back to his sketching and can Fiona realise that Finn isn’t like the other patient. An all round good read from start to finish. I can’t wait to read Gregory's book. Although all stand alone it’s nice to read them in order so you know who the characters are.
