Hidden (Archer's Creek - The Next Generation Book 1) Kindle Edition
Indulged.
Shallow.
The most popular girl in school.
My name is Nova Stubbs and all of those words have been used to describe me, they define me. Or at least that’s what people think.
No-one except my family ever bothered to look past the mask I wear, the role I play. Because this is what they want me to be, who they expect.
If they looked a little deeper they’d see the crumbling mess I am.
I care too much and hate who I pretend to be. My mind is too loud and it consumes me. Staying hidden is the only way I survive.
Then Valentine Miller steps into my world.
He hates me. He manipulates me and controls me. But when I’m with him he makes the world quiet.
Love. Hate. Need. Want. I feel them all when he touches me.
Valentine wants to ruin me and I might let him.

About the author
Gemma Weir is a half crazed stay at home mom to four kids, one man child and a tiny hell hound. She has lived in the midlands, in the UK her whole life and has wanted to write a book since she was a child. Gemma has a ridiculously dirty mind and loves her book boyfriends to be big, tattooed alpha males. She's a reader first and foremost and she loves her romance to come with a happy ending and lots of deliciously swoonworthy moments.

Gemma Weir's magnificent talent with words takes us away, into the darker side of living with mental illness: The swirling, amplifying voices and questions of self-doubt and fear; the stifling, debilitating pain of anxiety and panic; the struggle of constantly battling for peace and hanging on to sanity by a tiny thread.
Her beautifully crafted scenes had me swinging from love and happiness...to worry and confusion...then to anger and hate...back to happiness again! And I loved every minute of it! I cannot wait to get my hands, eyes, and heart on the second book in this duet, Found...Thank God and Gemma that I won't have a long wait!
Gemma, my lovely, beautiful friend, I thank you for all you do for me and I thank you for being you and sharing your gifts.

Will I read the next in the series ? Yes.
Nova struggles with common teenage angst, but also a little bit more and I really was along for the ride.
And then Valentine, and his issues. They could be a match made in heaven, but it’s probably forged in hell.

This story is about anxiety, confusion, and love and in writing this story, Gemma Weir has done some of her best work to date. In the acknowledgments, she says that is a very personal book to her and that is obvious in the way the words reach inside your heart and your gut and twist them so that you not only understand Nova, but you feel the same anxiety and confusion which she feels all the time.
“I hate that I’m the only person pretending.”
“Are they staring? Are they talking about me? Do they know who I am?”
I loved Nova, particularly as she’s different than the usual ‘high school queen bee’ that is often depicted in this genre of book. Despite being the ‘princess’ of the Doomsday Sinners MC (Archers Creek Series), she is a sweet, family loving girl who is just as confused as every other teenager who she goes to school with and the way that Valentine is able to manipulate her is proof that she’s not as strong as she and her family think and expect her to be. She has amazing parents who adore her, but she’s able to switch personas so adeptly that they, apart from her brother, have no idea was she’s going through – a strength and a flaw in her character which can only become her downfall. I found myself willing for her to ask for help or for someone to look beyond her façade and help her - pull her out of the make-believe that she has created and let her be her. My worry for Nova, along with the emotion I felt in a scene with her mum, who clearly adores her, is a testament to Gemma’s writing in this book, it simply draws everything from you and makes your heartache a little.
“This girl, this f*cking girl, she’s haunted me from the moment I laid eyes on her and all I’ve done is torture her, bully and manipulate her…”
Then there is Valentine and I’m not sure how I feel about him and I kind of think that might be how Gemma wants us to feel about her hero. We only get to hear his POV briefly, but it’s enough to show us that he is broken in some way – he’s also in the fostering system, so we know he has a story. As far as he is concerned, the ‘bully’ is being bullied and that’s how he justifies his actions but it isn’t until it’s too late that he sees Nova for what she really is – a confused, anxious teenage girl trying to fit in just like everyone else. I’m torn about him because apart from the fact he appears to be likeable and funny to everyone else, he’s mean and manipulative, bordering on abusive with Nova. Yet somehow I didn’t hate him, I can’t say I liked him much, but I understood his need to be that way. Also, he appears to be the one person who can calm Nova’s anxiety and quieten the voices in her head – in some ways he’s that person who I wanted to see through her façade. He does redeem himself at the end, and I liked that we were left until then to see a better side to him as it adds to the tension of the story.
This is emotive, heartbreaking read is a definite 5 stars from me and I can’t wait for book 2
Nova is the daughter of the president local motorcycle club. Shes up there on a pedestal, all eyes are on her, more so by Nova herself. The result is crippling anxiety that I felt in every word on the page. Valentine - I have never wanted to jump in a book and slap a character more than this guy, he's your stereotypical troubled teen to a tee, but he's also Nova's worse nightmare. It all comes together in a story you just can't put down!!! So excited for Found now.
Kinda gutted I could only give this 5 stars, it deserves way more, well done Gemma!!!! Get this on your TBR now!
This book is 99p for pre-order (I reserved my copy), however, I was then lucky enough to receive an ARC. I’ve read a few books of Gemma Weir’s books and I like her alpha male style. This one is a little different as the characters are younger than our usual rodeo, but this one fell into my favourite genre which had me all excited. This is a Bully/ Hate romance which I’m a huge fan of.
Hidden has links to the MC series by this author, however, it can easily be read as a standalone. Nova is the daughter of the Vice President of the Doomsday Sinners. She and her brother rule the school. The new boy, Valentine is about to stir things up for our princess.
It’s hot, it’s ugly and all kinds of messed up. This book is executed well and leaves you wanting more of
The series.
5 stars out of 5. This is my kind of book.
*I received an ARC however I’ve ordered my forever copy. My review is my own thoughts.
When I first read the premise for the book I was a little unsure as it’s not my usual type of book and Echo is one of my favourite so this being about his and Livs daughter I didn’t want it to ruin the idea I had in my head of them.
I really should of known better. Gemma has never let me down before and she definitely didn’t let me down this time either. Clearly Gemma can write anything she puts her mind to.
I experienced so many emotions reading Hidden. I was sad, reflective, angry and at one point ready to commit murder.
But the book also keeps you guessing and just when you think you have a character figured out, they do something to change your point of view slightly or look at something from a different angle.
Yes it finishes at a cliffhanger that actually made me swear and growl out loud!!!!!
But that just makes me want book 2 found even more!!!
