Our 25 ft. Self-Lock tape measure features a blade that automatically stay in a locked position until you press a button to retract them. The auto-locking feature offers smooth, comfortable retraction to avoid having the hook slam into the case, which makes the tapes both user friendly and longer lasting. I purchased both the 16 & 25' Craftsman Measuring Tape. Very well made hard plastic, metal belt clip and 1/8,1/4,3/8,1/2,5/8,3/4, & 7/8 printed on the tape along with lines on top and bottom. I have always struggled with the lines so the numbers are a welcome site. Best feature is the tape that stays out while using. How many times I have tried to measure 6ft and the tape goes back inside before making a mark. When you pull out the tape on both models, it stays where you have it extended to. You can then pull out more if you need to, stays put. Also has a lock feature on top. If you move same switch backwards, tape retracts. Awesome design and I am hoping the stay put distance does not wear out quickly. I am a homeowner not a contractor so I doubt I will ever wear that feature out. Great price and quality. Really surprised me so I purchased 2 more 16 footers for toolboxes and inside the house.

It's a PITA to have a tape measure retract on you while measuring. This won't retract without hitting the release button and you can extend the locked tape further if you need to. Great feature, I try to use this for pretty much all I need to measure.
