Blurred Boundaries : An Age Gap Romance (The Bookworm Beauties Book 1) Kindle Edition
WREN
I colored inside the lines.
Dotted my i's and crossed my t's.
Avoided connections, limited questions, and didn’t get personal.
Playing it safe kept my identity hidden.
What was meant to be a working holiday had me straying from the safety of the sidelines.
He tempted me, and I fell – hard
Throwing caution to the wind and my rules out the window
Keep it light, no strings, no expectations
What could go wrong? It wasn't like I'd see him after my vacation...
For years my rules kept the attention off of me.
That was until he walked into class.
ELI
As a varsity athlete, I believed practice made perfect.
I was a player on and off the field.
I had planned to work on my techniques for years to come.
Who could have predicted the impact of my casual holiday hookup?
Falling for her wasn’t part of the game plan.
She insisted on no contact after we left the island – I reluctantly agreed.
Imagine our surprise when we ended up in the same classroom.
Screw the optics. Screw the blurred boundaries.
Relegation to any zone that puts me out of her bed isn’t an option.
To hell with her rule book...I’m competitive by nature and won’t stop until she’s mine.

I liked Wren from the very start! She's had a tough life, lots of loss, and even now has to keep certain aspects of herself hidden. She needs some fun in her life, needs some unconditional acceptance, and that's exactly where Eli comes in! Eli's young and sexy, swoonworthy in his obvious attraction to Wren. There were a few moments of self-centeredness from him though, but I attributed it to his youth and forgave him as he treated Wren like a queen. Throughout the story they're a sizzling pair and I enjoyed watching their carefree romance start while on vacation. Returning home he remains committed as their relationship gets put through the wringer through some expected twists and turns, as well as a few surprises thrown in along the way. On a whole this is a great start to a new series that's crafted a sizzling story of a forbidden romance and the rocky road two people take to reach HEA, a story full of heart and soul!
Characters: 9/10 Elliot is the perfect Alpha Male with a hint of cinnamon roll and Wren was this sweet girl who I found myself rooting for through the whole story.
Atmosphere: 9/10 This almost gave me dark academia, Gilmore Girls/Chilton feels.
Writing: 9/10
Plot: 9/10 The plot was well crafted and as a reader I was very satisfied with where this story went.
Intrigue: 9/10
Logic: 9/10 This story absolutely could happen in real life.
Enjoyment: 9/10 A fantastic reading experience.
Trigger Warnings: Sexual Assault, Substance Abuse, Death of Parents and Sibling
This was my first teacher/student age gap romance read. Thankfully the student was of legal age and the age gap really wasn't overly large.
Without giving away too many spoilers. Blurred Boundaries opens with Wren and Cassy are on a flight to a tropical island vacation. Wren is our female protagonist. She works for a literary agency, a blog, and does some freelance writing jobs. She is also a fairly broken character; as the story moves along we learn more about her backstory that adds to the intrigue for her character.
Elliot is a student and lacrosse player who is on vacation with his brother and mother to celebrate his birthday. He turns out to be an equally broken character.
While Wren and Elliot's story begins on the island- their romance continues to build heat throughout the entire story.
I really believe that my favorite part of this book was the intensity of the romance and the anticipation of waiting to see how this story was going to unfold. When ever you have an off limits relationship you just know that something bad is going to happen and people are going to find out what is happening behind closed doors. That reader knowledge kept pulling me through my reading experience and wanting more of this story. There were also little hints of hidden identities and aspects of both main characters that kept me curious. I found that these little secrets were always things that I couldn't quite guess or put my finger on, which left me invested in the story.
Eli & Wren's connection started out easy and carefree. I was in two minds about Eli, but I guess at his age, certain things are a bigger priority than others. Wren is someone that I admired. She wanted a real career, honestly and without strings. I liked how hard she worked, and how focused she was. I wasn't expecting the complication between them to have so many layers, but the story was intriguing enough with all the twists and turns in it that I kept reading. I just felt that their relationship missed out on real intimacy, somehow.
The next in the series sounds interesting, so we'll see how that one turns out!
