5.0 out of 5 stars Good Binos
Reviewed in Canada on April 12, 2023
Let me start off by saying my review rating is based on what I paid for them on a warehouse deal which was less in cad then the usd list. Opened box and never used. I would never pay full price because my personal opinion is they are not worth it. Is the build and optics good. Yes very good in fact for a 10 x 25 bino. Beware if you have larger binos these can appear like a toy at first glance but they are not. It takes more time to find the sweet spot for viewing because of the smaller eye pieces and where to position your eyes to get the best view unlike their larger brothers. Doubled hinge binos also take time to open up correctly so the 2 images appear as one . Focusing is a breeze and very smooth so hats off to Bushnell for that. Always thought they made cheap products in this price range and lower but these appear solid with acceptable optics for fussy people like me. The supplied case and neck strap are good too but it's tricky getting the neck strap attached to the bino. I had to use a thin tool to push it thru the tiny bino slots. What a pain. I decided to use the strap because these would be easy for me to drop since they are so small. Better safe than sorry. The case will not hold the strap so I hang the strap outside the case and that works fine. They could have supplied lens and eyepiece covers but they don't or at least I never got them. I did have telescope 1in eyepiece covers/storage cases which fit perfectly over the objective lenses but found nothing yet for the eyepieces. Also no phone person to person service for Bushnell...just forms to fill out. I don't like that but I expect no issues with these during my lifetime so not a problem. I never compared these to any other make so I can't give any comparison to 10 x25. I would have preferred 6-8x power because it takes a steady hand for 10x. Of course these are not good for long periods of viewing but rather quick spotting of distance objects and is what I needed them for. In final...these are what they are...small, light, compact pocket size binos with decent optics for quick views but they will never replace my main 10x42 premium binos. They were never meant to. If I desired that I would have spent the big bucks on premium optics for the best. Lens covers are the ones I described. Update. In very good sunlight these are impressive. Sometimes companies will use words like Ultra HD to lure customers but I can attest these back that description up. Very detailed and crisp images. The best way to judge a binocular is to see how clearly and define lettering or words on an object sign are. These excel in that regard. I compared them to my 10x42's which have incredible optics trying to be fair considering the size difference and I must admit I could live with the Bushnell in demanding situations. I've also become very fast at finding the sweet spot where the image out of both lens is one. Also adjusting the diopter correctly is critical. It took me several attempts to getting it right because my left eyes vision is lesser than my right eye. The diopter is adjusted more to offset the eye vision difference. My 10 x 42 very little adjustment is needed. I thought maybe the Bushnell diopter was not accurate but I realize it's the size of the objective lens not capturing as much light as a larger bino would. So instead of the diopter in the neutral position it's 3 notches off to the right. My 10 x42 are 1 notch off. Still plenty of adjustment if a persons vision is more impaired in one eye than the other. If you wear glasses then no adjustment would be needed.
