No leaks over the 2 weeks of hiking/traveling, and the water tasted like water after the first use (no smell or weird taste). I hand washed on occasion. (I was not in a hot place, so the water did not get warm where it may more easily leach things from the bottle).
Using both bottles was easy enough - though I would say both are 2-hand bottles since there is little support due to the collapsable nature.
After returning from my trip, I washed both the Stash and the Stow on the top shelf of our dishwasher using the 'normal' cycle. After doing so, I checked the integrity of the water seal and unfortunately, the Stash leaks profusely at the screw top. It does not take much pressure to force water to spill out. It's not a lot, but it is annoying. The Stow (500ml flask), however remains solid - no leaks after 1 machine wash.
Well. I can drink this thing pretty much until it's empty with one hand, I just hold it close to the water level as it gets lower. The chemical aftertaste is real though! I filled it with water and let it sit for 24 hours then dumped it out and repeated that two more times and the taste was gone. So just be prepared to rinse it out for a few days before you start using it.
It stands up really well on it's own no matter how much water is in it. It folds up very easy and was so great to travel with. I would go for a short hike and just bring my very small bag, it was so great to be able to fold this up and store it once it's empty!! Not to mention, when going through the airport it was excellent to have a water bottle that stored so small. Nalgene lids stay attached which is nice for not dropping it, but I actually don't like having to hold it away from my face when it drink otherwise it bumps me. I prefer a lid that detaches completely as it turns out, so that ended up being a plus!
I left this behind at my hotel by accident and immediately was set to buy another one, however someone found it and agreed to mail it back to me, so I don't need to just now. But, I would buy this a second time in a heartbeat!

Es cierto que el agua toma un sabor plasticoso durante los primeros usos, pero creo que vale la pena por lo práctica que es en general.
