  • HEAT YOUR POOL - Solar Sun Rings are passive solar swimming pool heating devices, constructed from two layers of U.V. resistant vinyl. The upper clear layer directs the suns rays onto the bottom blue layer which absorbs about 50% of the sunlight, converting it to heat. The remaining sunlight filters through the ring into your pool water.
  • WARMING DISCS - The majority of heat loss from a pool comes from the water surface at night. Solar Sun Rings do not cover the entire surface of your pool; therefore it allows heat to escape. To help keep the warm water in your pool at night we recommend you use additional insulation such as solar fish or a solar blanket.
  • WHAT'S INCLUDED - Each unit contains 6 magnets that are used to attach the rings together. Do not over inflate. Do not use as a flotation device.
  • SOLAR ACTIVATED - Use the Solar Sun Rings to provide heat to your swimming pool from the sun. Swim comfortably without wasting energy
  • PLEASE NOTE - These Solar Sun Rings are NOT a solar cover or a replacement for a solar cover. These are floating disc heating devices.

Product Description

What are Solar Sun Rings? The Solar Sun Ring is a passive solar swimming pool heating device made from two sheets of heavyweight U.V. resistant vinyl. The upper clear layer holds insulating air and focuses sunlight on the blue colored lower layer. The blue layer absorbs about 50% of the sunlight and converts it to heat. The balance of the sunlight is allowed to pass through for deep water heating. How Do Solar Sun Rings Work? At night the contained air acts as an insulating blanket to retain heat gained during daylight. Solar Sun Rings are equipped with six magnets to improve clarity and decrease hardness of the water in your pool. The magnets are positioned to facilitate rafting. The strength of the magnets will permit single position removal but will easily separate to prevent entrapment in accidental falls.Solar Sun Rings were designed to be compatible with automatic pool cleaners. In the event the suction hose catches on a ring, the ring will separate from the raft to allow the pool cleaner to continue. Neither water nor pool chemicals can evaporate through the Solar Sun Rings two layers of heavyweight vinyl. You will save water and chemicals about equal to the percentage of the surface covered. Once the water in your pool has reached adequate temperature, Solar Sun Rings may be turned over to conserve water by limiting evaporation without significantly heating the water. How Many Solar Sun Rings Do I Need? We recommend enough Solar Sun Rings be purchased to cover 70% to 80% of your pools surface, ignoring the small triangles between the rings. Are Solar Sun Rings Compatible With My Pool? Solar Sun Rings may be used on all chlorine or salt water system pools, whether in ground or above ground. How Do I Clean My Solar Sun Rings? After removal from the swimming pool Solar Sun Rings can be easily cleaned with

Will NOT heat your pool, BUT…
4 Stars
Will NOT heat your pool, BUT…
I’m on my second season with these. The claims that it will heat your pool are doubtful, it keeping the heat in, yep. It does that.I live in central Florida and use these to slow evaporation and heat loss because I’m heating my pool (gas). They are fantastic for that purpose and have cut my energy use by 2/3 vs uncovered. I cover 90% of my pool with them. The second reason I purchased these vs a traditional solar cover is safety and convenience. These are a heck of a lot easier to pull off as one person than a solar cover. Also I didn’t want the hazard kid or pet got stuck under it. These are light enough to push up on, or out of the way.As for durability, a couple have leaks and need to be patched, they are also starting to fog up due to UV damage. Also, after a while the material stretches a bit and you can fully inflate the rings.I’ll probably just keep buying replacement each year, until they stop making them like everything else decent. ;-)

3.0 out of 5 stars They are the quality of Floaties basically, lifespan very limited
Reviewed in the United States on August 11, 2021
I have had these 3 1/2 months. You must air them up by mouth only, which limits the air they hold. Therefore, they deflate daily in California summer. If they deflate before you notice, they melt together making it impossible to blow them up again. I do love the fact they magnetize together, and they have a water ring on the bottom allowing them to stay in the pool. They never fly away if the wind picks up. The price is outrageous for the quality and lifespan of the product. I'm really sad and disappointed as I have tried every solar option out there without buying a whole solar heating system to put on my roof.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great alternative to a pool heater!
Reviewed in the United States on July 9, 2023
I was skeptical as to whether these would work or not but they really do and are a must have if a pool heater is not an option, just follow the instructions and be patient,it will not do much if the temps are low and you dont have alot of sun,but once you get a couple sunny days in the 80’s and 90’s the pool temperature will rise dramatically and maintain,im averaging between 87 and 90 degrees even in the morning, the quality seems it could be better but even if i get 2 seasons out of them the cost of 7 of these is what it might be to run a gas heater for 2 weeks.

5.0 out of 5 stars They work...
Reviewed in the United States on July 30, 2021
Ok, so let me tell you about these rings...I was skeptical, however, my neighbor had them in her inground pool and she said they work. So I tried them, I needed 5 based on the size of my pool. It takes a few days to rise dramatically, however the temperature does rise. You must have sunshine for solar anything, and this has not been a sunny summer thus far in the Midwest. You must NOT overinflate, read the instructions, that is key. The best thing about this system is that I can handle the solar rings without killing myself over the giant solar cover AND it doesn’t wreck havoc on my pool chemistry. Less chemicals are needed each week because the pool can breathe. No algae, no drama, and I can place and remove these rings very easily on my own. The seller was awesome as one of them had a defect, they immediately shipped another one with no drama. Good experience all around, I recommend them.
