Empath Secrets is a delightful read. Author Amy White mixes personal and professional experience with scientific information and material that normally sits under the rubric of alternative healing. In an easy-to-read, straightforward manner, the author explains the personality features of empaths, their sensitivities and vulnerabilities. Next, she provides a wealth of practical tools to help empaths flip the script, and turn what would usually be a health and wellness disadvantage, into an asset for health and overall quality of life. The strength of White's book is the way in which she presents her own transformation - her struggles, hard work and triumph - in a way that inspires the reader.
Although the book focuses on those who might meet the criteria for the empath personality, it would easily apply more broadly to highly sensitive people. In addition, the contents might help family members and others in the social sphere to understand the vulnerabilities and common plight of the empath - how and why the hide their true self from those around themselves.
This isn't a book that once read, will collect dust on the shelf. It is a resource that many will refer to time and time again.
Caveat: The book is properly classified (currently) as a best seller in Amazon's 'New Age Astrology' category; however, the book description mentions evidence-based tools (to be sure, those are in the book) but does not inform the potential reader that a good deal of the content is centered on the approaches common to alternative and mystic healing. Some Amazon reviewers have taken exception to such content, perhaps because they were not forewarned.

I loved this book, it was life affirming and enjoyable! :) it had several really interesting sections in the book that help empaths feel validated and supported. I particularly liked a line that said, “every time you let someone take you out of character, you are giving away your power” that was impactful for me and something I really needed to hear!
Definitely recommend this book to empaths everywhere!

As a reader of primarily nonfiction and self-help books, I was interested in the Empath Secrets to see what aspects of my perceptions of myself and others might be enlightened. I found much of the book very interesting, clarifying and a reinforcing about certain aspects of the mind and how it can control our actions as well as how we relate or fail to relate to other people around us. Plus I found the authors thoughts regarding alternative sources of energy as well as remedies both eye-raising and eye-opening whether I agreed with them or not. While I may not think they would apply to me, I recognize that in addition to scientific and medical treatments of mental and physical issues, many cultures have used alternative treatment modalities, using tangible and intangible elements in nature. Open-mindedness can be helpful, enlightening, as well as clarifying about what you see as believable, credible, and factual. There is something to learn from all perspectives.

One aspect I appreciated about this book is its relatability. Amy White acknowledges the challenges faced by empaths, such as being labeled as "too sensitive" or experiencing emotional exhaustion due to absorbing the energies of others. She provides evidence-based strategies and tips to navigate these obstacles and protect oneself from negative influences.

What sets this book apart is the author's compassionate and empowering approach. Amy White not only educates readers about the nature of being an empath but also guides them towards self-discovery and personal growth. The self-diagnosis test included in the book is a helpful tool for readers to identify their empathic strengths.

The writing style is engaging and easy to follow, making it accessible to both beginners and those already familiar with empathic abilities. The chapters are well-structured, addressing various aspects of being an empath and providing practical techniques for healing, self-care, and embracing one's empathic gift.

"Empath Secrets" offers a wealth of resources, enabling readers to embark on a transformative journey at their own pace. The author's genuine desire to assist and support empaths shines through every page, creating a sense of companionship and encouragement.

If you're an empath seeking guidance, understanding, and the tools to turn your empathic nature into a powerful asset, "Empath Secrets" is a must-read.

Empathy
Have you ever wondered why some people were more empathetic than others? It seems like they could feel others pain more intensely than others. Were you perplexed that your friends didnt understand when you tried to explain how you felt the pain that others were experiencing? If so Amy's book is for you. She likens deep empathy for others as having a superhero power, and makes it easy to understand, while giving real world examples that hold your attention, and alerting you to the possibility that you may share this unique super power, and may not even realize it.
This writing was an eye opener for me, making me realize why I would get so caught up in others that I lost sight of who I was. Why I would become so exhausted after emotional interactions that I would need to get away to emotionally recharge. Amy has a wealth of experience in this area and is a fun and interesting author to read..

5.0 out of 5 stars A great tool for empaths, parents, teachers, mentors and therapists.

Do you know the story of the old wise man who had three blind disciples who were asking what is The Truth? The old wise man placed each of his disciples next to an elephant, facing three different parts. He then asked them to touch the elephant, feel the skin, the texture, and the shape. Then he asked all three of them to describe the elephant. One disciple, who reached the tail of the elephant, said the elephant is a small creature, according to its tail. The second disciple said the elephant is like a tree, as he reached a leg of the elephant. And the third disciple described the elephant as being like a snake because he touched the elephant trunk. The wise man explained to them how the elephant looks like in reality. And then he said that this is the same with one’s limits to see The Truth.
Well, reading “Empath Secrets: How to…” I suddenly have the whole truth of being an empath. Intuitively, I found ways out from the problematic situations, like volunteering, practising gratitude, and cutting energetic cords, mentioned in Amy White’s book.
As an empath, Amy White’s book brought me a series of epiphanies: the typology of empaths, ways to protect thyself, and ways to jump from zero to superhero, the supreme dream of an empath. With huge gratitude to the author, I already started training to become an empowered empath.
As a psychologist, I loved the book structure, the flow, the entire picture of the elephant. The title promises to answer only the "how" question, and actually, the thread of the book is epistemologically correct, answering five questions: what is an empath? How many types of empaths are? Who is an empath?/ Am I an empath? What tools can empath use to protect themselves? I loved the research evidence (Lacobani, 2008; McLaren, 2013)! A wonderful bonus, the book encompasses Judith Orloff's empath test.
As a mother, therapist, teacher, and mentor for more than 20 years of practice with children in formal, nonformal and special education, I can see the practicality of these “secrets” in the future. As the author mentioned, there wasn’t enough information on empathy in our parents' childhood and our childhood. It is time to give tools for future empaths to grow and fulfil their dreams of a better world. As an empath, in the past, I could sense only the body (as very strong) and ears (comparing them with wings that could fly) of the elephant = being an empath. I still believe that empaths are just like elephants: strong, sensitive, compassionate, and intuitive, using genuine communication methods.

Before picking up this book, I wasn’t sure if I was an empath or a HSP. Having read it I now know I am an empath. Reading this felt like I was reading my autobiography there were so many similarities in experiences and feelings about those experiences. I would recommend this to anyone who feels they might be an empath or anyone related to someone who they might think is an empath. This book provides an overview of tools and techniques to nurture and protect your empathic gift and is a very valuable addition to my self care toolbox
