Amazing ingenious quality leading edge technology based product
Following a 3 month review testing of the top Robotic Vacuums. I ordered Roborock last 10 days ago. It arrived as promised by Amazon Prime last wednesday. Packaging was profesional and it shows good quality. Initial setup startup was simple, reviewing the YouTube videos helped inmensly. It came fully charged so put it to work right away. Download the app, it was fairly simple to set. It up, with a few small glitches with the IP settings. The instructions r not very clear, probably due to the language barrier. Run it side by side w the Roomba 960 (my wife’s favorite) here are the results> Roomba 960+ appeared to have much better suction+ uses a different robber roller technology in place of blushes+ collection canister is much larger than than Roborock+ virtual barriers are an elegant touch and simple to use+ Alexa enameled nice to have but does not add to much value+ Good sound technology- Dumb random cleaning pattern- Leaves dust and hair coils behind and never picks them up- when canister is full it stops, happened underneath furniture & underneath the bed 😞- one day we left it alone working and it disappeared, though it was under the bed but could not find it. 3 days later we found it in the closet behind the laundry basket 😂- we could not get it to talk like the earlier models- about 70% returned to charging- green light top of the unit is very bright, my wife keeps it the master bedroom, in the dark it is unnecessary bright at night - it collects a lot of dust/hair/carpet fibers (6 have 6 pets at home) a few times the canister was ful, after empting it, got the same error msg, eventually we found out it collected extra rubish in the connecting tube to the canister. we had to empty it by picking up the Roomba and placing it on to of the garbage. Needless to say lots of dust went on the floor, bad idea, not very sanitary dust dirt all over the floor- I needed a RoboMop wich costs from $150 to $299 ouch making the cost arounf 1KRoborock S511+ Ingenous elegant deign+ 4 suction mode setup plus Mop Mode+ The app is very easy to setup after getting aroun a couple glitches+ Excellent technology used to perform the cleanup mode+ When the canister is full it tells the user the problem, plain english, also, send a msg to ur cell phone+ We needed to find where it went, well the is an options under settings “Find my Robot Vaccum” and it replies “Hi I am Over here”also it show u exactly where in the zone clean up is stuck or it if has retuned to base. All very easy to follow graphics+ Canister is very easy to take it out & empty+ Uses GPS sensors to give u a cleanup progress report+ The app keep track of component utilization HEPA filter brush etc etc+ Tried the Mop option, with its limitations, worked amazingly well+ App is very well written & tested have not found bugs yet, corny at times w limited help- Canister is to small & requires frequent attention- the app has zone setup limitations. It does not allow to outline zones save them and schedule cleanup in saved zones- it is noisy when the Leanup mode is set to Max Mode- Mop function while useful is very limited- it lacks virtualll walls, a magnetic tape on the floor is very primitive virtual, I believe dynasours used itThe winner is. The Roborock S511 - my wife name it CholitaSuperior product, in spite of small drawbacks/isssues ingenious design, excellent use of many technologies, laser scanners, wifi, messaging, sensors, logic board, msg to voice vaccum & Moping for $500 w amazon cupon. (If there is a robotic lawnmower w this technology I will definately get itI am planing to get one for Dad for his new water from Home 🏡 he is 90yrs old in great shape, but does not clean or vaccum floors nor mop. He does not like anyone else, except my sister, to do itWill update soon

I've only had this one day, so I may update more later. I bought this to replace a 5 year old Roomba 650 that has done a commendable job and been reliable and durable. The Roborock S5 is quieter, smarter, and faster. It also seems quite well made and durable. It has everything I wanted in a new vacuum: no-go zones, zone cleaning, virtual barriers, straight line "z" or zigzag cleaning, and manual controls, which would have run about double from any competitor and has mopping as a bonus. The lidar is mostly accurate. It hasn't gotten stuck, it's about 1/3 the noise of the Roomba. I only wish it had a sensor and notification to let you know when the dustbin is full, otherwise it is mostly autonomous and doesn't require intervention. I had several issues with the mapping initially. I reset the vacuum to factory defaults (by pressing the "recharge" or plug icon button and the reset pin next to the wifi indicator light under the cover a few seconds, until the vacuum gave a verbal notification of reset). After the factory reset, it was having trouble being recognized by the app and so I followed the app prompts to hold the "spot cleaning" and "recharge" buttons on either side of the clean button on the top of the vacuum. That worked. It then did a firmware upgrade that took about 10 minutes. It worked very well after that and, while I cannot think of a good reason for this, the mapping function appeared to work better and created an impressively accurate map of my house and its various cabinets and furniture hazards. I am including photos showing the map and stats at the end of its first post-reset cleaning cycle and also of the no-go and virtual barrier screens, and the remote controls. I was concerned that it would have trouble getting over the wooden threshold covers that we installed because some rooms' floors are slightly taller than others, due to adding a layer of plywood, but it has had no real problems. It struggles a bit, but works it out within a few seconds. It has gone over small rugs, a bath rug, and our heavy duty mat at or patio door without incident. I thought for sure the bath mat would foil it. I did have to pick up some cords that it gagged on, but they shouldn't have been laying around anyway. I purchased this after extensive investigation into the available options and I would recommend it to my friends.

I researched a large number of robot vacuums before I picked this one. I tried iRobot and I tried Eufy and I looked at many many more as well as watched tons of reviews and YouTube reviews/videos on them. At the end of the day this was the best one for the price and feature set. It’s pretty excellent at all but two things...

1. The bin size is quite small so you have to keep an eye on it. I’ve never had the bot tell me that it’s full even though I would consider it stuffed sometimes. So something to keep in mind if you have several pets with long hair.

2. It can only store 1 floor map at a time. The bot makes a new map every time it runs so it isn’t a huge issue but it does need to remember the map it first creates because you can define nogo zones or cleaning zones etc. the problem i have is that my house is 2 stories so if I move it upstairs it can’t remember the downstairs map and it would have to re-learn it again so then I wouldn’t be able to define places for it not to go until it scanned the 1st floor again. Pretty big hassle so I only let it do downstairs for now. Hopefully RoboRock will come out with a firmware update to let it do at least two maps.

Their customer service typically got back to me within 24 hours but they are not nearly as accommodating as iRobot or Eufy customer support is which I can testify that both were excellent and very helpful when I contacted them (and even gave me free parts/stuff just because I had to contact them. RoboRock on the other hand offered no freebies and I had asked to BUY an extra dock (for upstairs) but their dock doesn’t come with a power cord... why???? So I asked to buy a power cord and they said they only had like 12 of them so they didn’t know if they would sell me one... so we went back and forth for a while and long story short they finally agreed to sell me one for something like $35+shipping which to me was insane for a generic power cord for their dock which should come with one in the first place.

TLDR: the vacuum is excellent and I have had zero issues with it since I got it and it does a great job mapping the house and keeping the floor clean. I seldom use the mop feature but it would be good if you ONLY had hard flooring (no rugs, no carpet) so that you don’t have to set up no-go zones each time. Customer support is sub-par vs other robot vac companies but they do get back to you in a reasonable time.
