Tiffen Neutral Density Filters

These filters reduce the amount of light passing through the camera lens without changing the color of the scene. They are especially useful in bright light conditions to help prevent overexposure. Neutral Density filters also allow proper exposure at a wider lens opening for reduced depth-of-field to highlight a key subject by making the foreground and/or background out of focus.

- F-Stop Reduction of 3 (ND8 or ND103)

- Eliminates overly bright, washed-out images

- Balances exposure

- Controls depth-of-field

- Allows slower shutter speeds to produce blurred motion effects

Product Description

Product description

The
Tiffen 82mm 0.9 ND Filter is a solid neutral density filter providing a 3 stop exposure. This 0.9 density creates a darkening of the entire image, allowing you to photograph with a wider aperture or slower shutter speed than normally required. By slowing your exposure time or increasing your aperture, you are able to control depth of field and convey movement more easily. Neutral density filters do not affect the coloration of the image and are ideal for pairing with other filters.

This filter is made using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass, grinding flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch, and then mounting to precision metal rings.
0.9 ND filter darkens the image, allowing you to photograph with a longer shutter speed or wider aperture than normally required.Providing a 3 stop exposure reduction, this filter allows you to control depth of field and convey movement more easily.Filter does not affect coloration of the image and is ideal for use with other filters.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing value
Reviewed in Canada on March 7, 2018
These filters are a great value. I love doing panning shots, but in bright sunlight I often need to go above f/11 at which point lenses tend to lose some sharpness. I wanted to try the Tiffen after seeing a comparison by Fstoppers between popular brands.

I made a test when I received the filter to see if I would lose some image quality, or if it would actually be better than shooting with a very small aperture. It turns out that the sharpness is identical with or without a filter and it's better than with small apertures. There was some color cast, but it was an easy fix with a color balance layer.

The comparison shows from left to right; with Tiffen filter at f5.6 (color cast corrected), without filter at f18 and without filter at f5.6. The pictures were all shot at 1/100s ISO100 and I controlled exposure with a speedlight
