About this item

  • EASY TO USE – Place Tertill in any garden that meets the requirements, press the button once to wake it up, and again to make it go. From the inventor of Roomba.
  • GARDEN REQUIREMENTS – 4-inch (or higher) border, a foot between plants or rows, a relatively flat (slope of less than 7 degrees), and relatively smooth surface. Place Tertill in a weed-free garden to start. Each robot can maintain up to 200 sq. ft.
  • PLANTS vs WEEDS – Tertill uses height to identify plants from weeds. Anything tall enough to touch its front sensors is considered a plant and Tertill will turn away. If it passes under the robot, Tertill cuts it. Included plant guards protect desired seedlings not tall enough to be detected by the robot.
  • STAYS in the GARDEN– Tertill never goes on vacation or has something better to do. It is weatherproof and can stay in the garden from Spring through Fall. Solar-powered, it never needs to be charged!
  • GREAT GIFT – Perfect for busy moms, dads, grandparents or anyone who doesn't have the time, ability or desire to weed the garden, but still wants to grow fresh healthy vegetables for their family.
  • NOT FOR LAWNS or SLOPED AREAS

Watch the video to learn how and where Tertill works

For best results place Tertill in your garden either at the beginning of the season or right after weeding.

Easy To Set Up!

Created by the inventor of Roomba, Tertill is ideal for vegetable gardens.

  • Place a border around the garden
  • Space plants and rows a foot apart
  • Protect seedlings and smaller plants with the provided plant guards
  • Put Tertill in garden and press the button

How does it tell plants from weeds?

Anything tall enough to touch Tertill's sensors is a plant. Anything short enough to go under the robot is a weed. Included guards protect young plants and seedlings. Must be placed in a weed-free garden to start then Tertill will keep it that way!

Does it really work?

YES!! Tertill has been proven as effective as hand weeding by the Cornell School of Agriculture and we have a patent on this new way to weed.

What kind of gardens does it work in?

Gardens have to have a min 4-inch border, be relatively flat and smooth, and about a foot between plants to allow the robot to maneuver. Ideal for vegetable gardens, ornamental gardens, and herb gardens. Not recommended for cottage gardens or slopes.

What if I have a question?

It works
We bought this late last summer when we moved to a new house with a very large vegetable garden. We have a 6ft x 30 ft section enclosed with wire guards around potato plants and it definitely works. Attached photos show Tertill area around the potatoes vs. Non-tertill around the sweet corn and potatoes which was weeded with a hoe 1 week ago.A couple of lessons learned:1. Start with a weed free level surface and Tertill should keep it fairly weed free.2. Make sure you have sufficient border or Tertill will make a break for it.3. Keep obstacles out of the way (the few weeds in the Tertill section above are because we had a hose running through there this week and it got hung up on it).4. Check on Tertill throughout the week. Sometimes it digs itself into a hole and needs an assist.Solar power works like a charm. I charged it inside for the first go (and first time out for the season) and haven't need to charge it since.Given the size of the garden, we are buying a second one. It's not perfect, but it significantly cuts down on weeding.

Although the price was a little hard to swallow at first, I am a very happy customer. It does exactly what it is designed to do. It has been operating on it's own for about a month now and the garden has never been this weed free. No plants have been damaged and plans guards are about to be removed since they have grown enough. You will still need to pull the weeds from the edges of the garden and the first couple of inches of the plant base as the unit can not get these edges. Very happy because my wife is very happy.
