Finding our Way #1

Finding Our Way

Rate this book
Young Love. Schoolgirl Crush. Complete Adoration.

All of these words describe the way I’ve felt about Bryce Randolph since the day he walked through my door. I was twelve and he was my brother’s best friend, but he never treated me as the pesky little sister. As the years went on, my feelings grew stronger. The day I turned eighteen was supposed to be the best day of my life, instead it became the worst.

Heartbreak, Devastation, Anguish.

With the right amount of time and distance, the ache lessens. My new life has no room for the endless tears I cried for months. Emotionally, Bryce betrayed me and caused a deep heartache I never thought I’d overcome. Now, I’m stronger, more focused, and extremely guarded. Moving on helped me find clarity and build a new path for my future.

Just as things seem to fall into place, Bryce finds me. He’s a man on a mission and I’m the mission. His determination and persistence becomes hard to ignore.
Is it possible we may just have the future I always dreamed about?

Due to graphic language and sexual situations, this novella is recommended to readers 18+

I actually got past the sample, but sadly put on my dnf shelf at 32%. I wasn't feeling it. The h and H were already in love when the story started, but there had been some drama with OW to cause them to not be officially together (and there's an age gap with the h needing to turn 18 too). I could tell that it was going to be mushy, and I really need to experience the development of their feelings in order to tolerate mushy. I also felt like I could strongly predict that the psycho OW was going to be an issue later and cause some stupid drama -- no thanks! I'm super glad it was on my kindle unlimited!

This was pretty much a 4.5 star read until I got to the bloody end...

WHY did no one tell me that this is only "the beginning" and hence ends in a sorta' HFN and that the story will continue in another book..... GRRRRRRRRR!!!!!

Nope. Heroine is crushing on the hero for years. They share a kiss when she’s fifteen. This MIGHT have worked if he didn’t ask her to wait for him until she’s eighteen. Then on her eighteenth birthday, he brings home his now pregnant fuck buddy aka fiancee. So while their feelings were mutual and she’s waiting to turn eighteen, he’s been having casual sex with OW. Later he confessed there were more women he slept with. I understand the age gap with him being older and going to college. But if he was intending to sow his wild oats in college, then DON’T make any false promises to her! If he claimed the kiss was a mistake and he didn’t feel the same way, this whole smexing OW and getting one pregnant wouldn’t feel as such a betrayal. To end this rant with a positive note, at least she dated others until she turned eighteen and lost her virginity to another guy when she knew there was no hope being with the hero any longer.

Ahren Sanders is a must read author for me. She always writes great alphas and likeable heroines. Finding Our Way was an easy and quick read (it is a novella) that left me wanting to read more about Devon & Bryce. Looking forward to Staying on Course.

My rating: 3 stars

What I liked: I liked how Bryce(H) finally went after Devon(h) and proved his love for her, even though he was a dumba** for being with ow. I really liked her friend and hope she gets a book.

What I didn’t like: I wished we got to read the confrontation between Bryce and Holli(ow) instead of just being told about it. I wanted more drama from that whole situation.

How hot was it: 3 out 5

Triggers: Ow drama.....h has a crush on her brother’s best friend who is a couple of years older. They kiss at his high school graduation party and he basically tells her that he hopes she feels the same way when she is 18. When she does turn 18 she finds out that he got ow pregnant and supposedly engaged. Ow has a miscarriage

Final thoughts: I picked this book up because I was in the mood to read ow drama. This was good but I wish it had more drama, maybe it will have it in the second book which I’m definitely going to read.

This story was about a girl fell in love with her brother's best friend since middle school, but her dream of a future with him was broken when she was 18. 1.5 years later, he came back to her life asked for forgiveness.

I was not sure about H's reason, his explanation to h, or how easy h forgave him. However, he was sweet and possessive after he back to her life.

I knew it's weird to say so when the 2nd book was already released, but I really thought this story could end here, that would make it a great short story.

Ahren always writes such amazing love stories. She includes a sassy sexy woman and a strong protective alpha man. Meet Devon Harris who has been in love with Bryce Rabdolph for as long as she can remember. He wants to wait till she's 18 before they can be together. The day has finally arrived but Bryce breaks her heart leaving her devastated. Time and distance heals her heart until he comes barging back into her life. Bryce wants to make up for destroying her love. Bryce is willing to do anything he can to make up for his past mistake. Devon has a hard time at first believing that Bryce can be a part of her future. She was so destroyed by his actions and is hesitant to forgive him. Can Devon forgive and move forward or will she stay stuck in the past? The passion these two characters have for each other is off the charts hot. This is an amazing second chance love story and will make you wonder what if. Ahren you did it again and I'm looking forward to seeing what's next.

Wow, I can't tell you how much I love this book. I really wasn't expecting to love it as much as I did. I have the second book written in my head already. She gets captured he goes into rescue her. Yep, that's my storyline and will be so excited if it goes anything like that lol... Even though this kind of ends on a cliffhangers not a wtf just happened cliffhanger, but a fuck I can't wait to find out what happens next cliffhanger I would still recommend this to anyone! I know people are over series and just want standalones, but I personally love a good series and can't wait for the next book!

4 out of 5 stars

I love Ms Sanders and everything I’ve read by her has been outstanding and this book wasn’t any different. Devon and Bryce have a history and their connections can’t be stopped.

I loved the way that it wasn’t all fairy tales and sugar for these two, but that they didn’t fight what they both knew to be truths.

AND then you throw in the best friend, Quinn and it’s a party!! I love when secondary characters can pull you through in a novel and Quinn is one of the best book best friends ever.

This was a quick read and I’m so glad that it turned into more because reading Staying on Course was the best decision I made this week!!

I. AM. ANNOYED.

The only reason I decided to read this novella tonight, was because it was short and a standalone. OR SO I THOUGHT! I should have paid more attention to the reviews on here, then I would have known that this was NOT, in fact, a standalone. Not only is it just the beginning of this series, it's not clear how many stories there are going to be, and the second isn't out until near the end of the year.

So on top of that annoyance (which I didn't discover until the final page), I didn't even particularly like this story. It was fuckin boring! The main chick was a cry-baby. She literally cried at everything, it was pathetic. And there was virtually NO angst, so it was all cheesy 'I love you's' and sexual frustrations. Okay, there was a little bit of drama, but the novella moved along so quickly, it was only a couple of pages later and things were on their way to getting patched up.

I am so disappointed, because I've really enjoyed the other stories I've read by this author. The one redeeming factor, was that this story was so short. I only wasted a couple of hours on it.

Will I be back to read the rest of the stories? I don't know if I really care what happens with this couple honestly, but I probably will read on. I'm a glutton for punishment, apparently.

Devon lusted after Bryce since the age of 12. Bryce is her brother, Nate's BF. Quinn, Devon's BFF is the only one who knows about Devon's true crush on Bryce. Devon (age 15) kisses Bryce at a party before he leaves for college, realizing his mistake he pulls away. Devon informs him of her crush and he said he hopes when se is 18, he hopes she still feels the same way. Guess what she does and she'll going to University of Tennessee where Nate/Bryce go so they will be closer again. Until an unexpected bomb is dropped on her changing the course of her life. To make matters worse this bomb occurs on her birthday and graduation from high school. She goes to University of Virginia instead after this bomb and Quinn goes with her.

Sadness in Bryce's eyes when Devon learns of this bomb. Bryce continues to try mend their broken friendship. He gets his break and attempts to get her to listen to him. He needs to explain that since the day she turned eighteen his life has been a rollercoaster and has had to make some really hard decisions and the one person he wanted to turn too-he couldn't.

Always hear the other side of a story cause there are two sides to each story. Holy crap that was a twist once he told the story. Sorry won't spoil this for you, but I will say that you will be grabbing the next book to find out what transpires between these two.

Devon, a terrific character, she had her heart shattered into pieces but picked herself up & tried to get on with her life as best she could, and she did really awesome moving on without forgetting her Bryce. My heart actually hurt for her.

Bryce, I was back & forth on him, but he seemed genuine and a really stand up guy.

Devon has loved Bryce as long as she has known him. Bryce has felt the same way about Devon for a long time, but the problem is that his best friend is Devon's brother, Nate. And they 4 years older than Devon.

Devon knows that with her eighteenth birthday and high school graduation her life is going to change, she just didn't realize the magnitude of that change.

The secondary people in this book are awesome. Quinn and Nate are the best friends that everyone needs. Also the parents are great people and fun.

I did not like the cliffhanger, it felt like to me that their story was over HEA and all that!

Oh my goodness! Awesome read!

Love Ahren Sanders. I really enjoy her writing style. This book definitely left me goosebumps. This is the kind of love story we all want except for the drama on the beginning, but that got them to where they were when the book ended. Bryce is the super hot and sweet alpha male. My new book boyfriend. Book didn't exactly end in a cliffhanger but left open to their next book which I am super excited about reading and patiently waiting for. Hoping they get their HEA.

Probably one of the poorer books from this genre I've read. Someone on Amazon had the word "Juvenile" in the first sentence. It's completely accurate.

The hero came across as stalkerish and represented a type of man who could be termed abusive.

If done right "obsession" can be very sexy, this wasn't don't with an expert hand. Several moments bordered on a lifetime movie where the heroine mysteriously disappears in the end.

I made it through the end, thus the second star, but eh, I won't be reading anything else by this author.

I think it’s unforgivable what he did to her. She waited for him and he got another woman pregnant. When you really love someone, you don’t sleep around. Sorry but no. He handled so many things wrong. He even gets angry when she told him that she was intimate with other guys (she was still a virgin). What I really liked was that he groveled a lot and that he was all in with her when he came after her.

I received this book for a honest review. This book was read and reviewed by Stacy Aube for Cutting Muse Blog Review.

What starts as young love can change in a moment. This is a great start to Bryce and Devon's story. All the twist and turns that these 2 have to overcome are all to real.

Great read!

New-to-me author and what I thought was a complete standalone. SURPRISE! It wasn't - just a HFN. I don't like those kinds of surprises and even more disturbing is that there is no definite date for the follow up.

Even so, enjoyable contemporary romance from the NA genre.

This is one absolutely amazing second chance romance!

You don't want to miss Ahren Sanders stories... simply because:

1. Her writing is the bomb!

2. Can I say "Hot, Sexy, Alpha Males, enough times for you to get my point? We shall see.

3. Fiesty woman, who love giving their Alpha counterpart a run for their money.

4. Hello? The Alpha Males are Hot, Hot, Hot and totally worth it! "Hot, Sexy, Alpha Males"!

In Book 1 of "Finding our Way", Devon Harris has been in love with Bryce Randolph for freaking forever.

Only problem is that Bryce wants to wait untill Devon is 18 years old before they get together.

Her day comes and she "FINALLY" TURNS 18. This is the day she's been waiting for, just to have Bryce leave her and break her heart.

After some time away from him, her heart had started healing and life was a little less heartbreaking.

Bryce decides he will do anything he can to get Devon back and have her forgive him for hurting her. So he stomps back into her life and after everything, Devon doesn't feel that she can truly believe that Bryce will stay and be with her. Afterall, he did make promises before and left her heartbroken.

Can she trust him?

Can she give him her heart again and forgive him for his past mistakes?

This is such an awesome Love Story and Devon and Bryce have some Hot Chemistry cooking up! Bryce is a one of a kind, hot as H€££, ALL around Alpha Male!

This was great! Lots of angst, which I loved, but it was balanced just enough by redemption and a little bit of justice.

So I was real bitter about Bryce's actions, but I think he more than redeemed himself by the end. I know this sounds callous, but I'm really glad that there wasn't a baby with Holli. I love second-chance romance, but I am personally not a fan of the ones that involve one of the MCs having a child with another person. So I'm sorry for the fictional baby that was lost, but I'm not sorry that I'm happy that there wasn't a physical, constant reminder of Bryce's fling with Holli the Hag.

I really appreciated how the author wrote everyone to behave maturely, while also giving the characters emotional development; that is hard to find. I do wish, though, that there had been a few chapters with Bryce's POV, especially at the beginning. It wouldn't have to be the constantly alternating POVs that are so common in books today, but a few parts here and there with an insight into Bryce's head would have been interesting to read.

It was very satisfying that Devon got to say her piece to Holli and that Bryce had a final (off-page) confrontation with Holli and cursed her out. Thank God!

Finding Our Way: Devon Harris has a loving and caring family, her parents are great and her brother is a typical protective big brother. And then is there Bryce Randolph. Her brothers best friend. She loves him since forever. On her 18th birthday she has high expectations. These are crushed in seconds by Bryce´s fiancée. She´s devastated and moves away for college.
Now, 3 years later, Bryce is back and he wants Devon back. He´s more than determined and has his sights set on this goal. They´re back together and now their love story starts.
Devon is a young woman, she just learns what she wants from life. She´s a excellent student and successful in their field of work.
But they´re so young and can a long distance relationship really work?
Finding Our Way and Staying on Course are two very well written books. I love the story and I love the characters. I could feel the characters emotions in the words. They wither every storm and obstacle thrown their way.
Favorite Quote: " You are my compass. And my anchor. " Bryce.
I recommend the duet and give 5 beautiful stars. Thank you, Ahren Sanders!

Loved this book as much as I did the first times I read it.

I originally bought this book by Ahren Sanders as a part of a six author anthology, entitled INTRIGUE where proceeds of the book went to different charities, each individually chosen by the authors, for a period of three months. It was the second book by Ms. Sanders that I’d read after Reed’s Reckoning, and it absolutely cemented her as one of my favourite one-click authors.

I won’t add to the plot summary so what I will say is that I absolutely LOVED this story with it’s strong and positive main characters who may not be perfect, but stay strong in the face of adversity. The chemistry between them keeps the intensity of the book ramped high and it flows at such a rapid pace, that the end is reached before you know it.

It doesn’t end on a cliffhanger as such, but has a plot hook that ensures you have to lay your hands on the next book to find out the ending to not only Bryce and Devon’s story, but to see how their friends and family get on as well! 4 Stars
