Razor HD 10x42 Roof Prism Binoculars (RZB-2102)
Extreme terrain. Unimaginable conditions. Both test your mettle-and your optics. With a well-earned reputation for pushing the limits of optical performance, the Razor HDs step up and out on other binoculars in their class. Small, light, bright, strong, and packed with the best quality, hand-selected prisms and premium HD extra-low dispersion glass available today. Nothing else comes close.
Adjust Eyecups & IPD
Enjoy comfortable viewing even if you wear eyeglasses. Simply twist the eyecups up or down to see the full field of view. Keep the eyecups fully extended if you aren’t wearing eyeglasses or sunglasses.
The IPD (interpupillary distance) is the distance between the centers of the left and right pupil. Your binocular also has an IPD. To see a single image free of shading, rotate your binocular until its IPD aligns with your eyes.
Focus Your Binocular
Use the center focus and diopter to adjust for vision differences in each eye. Choose an object about 20 yards away and perform this two-step process:
- Close your right eye or cover the right objective lens with your hand. Look at the object with your left eye and adjust the center focus dial until the image is in focus.
- Close your left eye or cover the left objective lens with your hand and rotate the ring until the object is in focus.
Lens Care
- Blow away any dust or grit before wiping the lens. Use a can of pressurized air, soft camel hair brush, or acrylic optical brush.
- Gently remove smudges, fingerprints, and eyelash oil from the lens. Use a small amount of water or your breath to moisten the lens then wipe away smudges with a clean lens cloth. Isopropyl alcohol can help remove marks like fingerprints.

I believe these to be the best on the market ESPECIALLY considering the no questions asked, transferrable, lifetime warranty! Go find that in Austria, Germany, Slovakia, or any where else for that matter! I really researched this purchase because though I can afford it, ...who needs or wants to spend an extra $1K or so (depending on brand) for the same or inferior performance glass? It was great having the center focusing wheel on the Swaros as the diopter focusing mechanism as well,...but to be honest, once you've set your diopter setting on the lockable wheel on the barrel of the Razor, there is no difference, other than the previously stated "mushy" feel of the Swaro SLC center focusing wheel. The Swaros are not only heavier but the close focusing only allows you to 11 feet or so. The Razor's, just like the Viper's are at 5 foot or even a little less. Talk about superb optics and quality craftsmanship! I've tried or owned every brand of looking glasses out there and these are, IMHO the best without any reservation OR exception!
UPDATE: 3/20/20.....These are by far the best glass for the money that I HAVE EVER SPENT! I've been extremely active with some local and regional (Northeast USA) birding organizations and I have used/borrowed/tried out and compared every other major (expensive) brand of glass that exists (inclusive of some extremely expensive spotting scopes and I am still FLOORED by the performance/ build quality and ease of use of the Vortex brand overall but specifically the Razors and the Vipers. As a former mechanical engineer (and I hare to repeat myself) these are PHENOMENALLY INCREDIBLE for the money spent!
Speaking of which folks,....I spend a small fortune in time, energy and coin on stuff that I buy and use here on amazon so if this review was HELPFUL,....well you know what to do! Many thanks!
What I really didn't care for are the covers for the eyecups that are supposed to go onto the straps. Cheap binos use them as well. I bought the S4 Gear Lockdown harness which keeps them secure to my chest while protecting the eyepieces from granola bar crumbs. I have used them for about 2/3 of the season and I am very pleased. I also think if you are hunting within 100 yards you could also be happy with the 8x.

These have good ergonomics and a nice smooth focuser. They are nice to hold and use.
The optics and build quailty are good at this price point, better if you can get these on a deal.
I would put the Nikon HG or certain Maven or Zeiss Conquest above these. However these are an enjoyable binocular.
They do not however compare to alpha level glass, but you have to pay a lot more for smaller increments in quality.
I think the Nikon HG or Conquest is the standard at £1000.
Chromatic aberration is non existent and the field of view is excellent, the warranty can not be beat and Vortex stands behind their stuff 100%. I looked at Zeiss, Swarovski, Leica, Bushnell and Nightforce and I chose these; not because of the price but because of price vs quality. This is the first Vortex product that I have bought and it will likely not be my last. I am not a brand-loyal guy in any way, so that factor did not affect my decision to purchase. 8x42 seemed to be the sweet spot in regards to image stabilization free from a tripod and after a hike where you are out of breath. They will not shake nearly as bad as the 10x42 binos which is what I have previously owned. If you are worried about the extra magnification gain of 10 power binoculars in comparison of an 8, it is minimal. I am primarily an elk and moose hunter who hunts mostly in the thick timber and away from the tree lines so added magnification was not an issue for me.
I needed a set of optics that would allow me to count points, and these are more than capable of picking out details. Good for birding also. Buy these and you'll be a happy hunter.
