Had a Switch since launch and it finally started to have stick drift so I got the kit specifically for that. Thought the Y bit was a little too skinny for the screws but tried anyway and they wouldn't budge. Checked and I was right, instead of the Y00 bit needed, was given a Y000 bit instead.Other than that, everything else was here and they look and feel to be quality made.But yeah, I can't even open the joy-cons.UPDATE: They contacted me and sent me the correct bit pretty quickly. Good Customer service. The bits are small and have their size engraved small so it's an understandable mistake that may happen during packaging so make sure to check them just to make sure if you order a set.

Used this to fix the joystick drift on my Switch joycons. This comes with 1 ifixit hall effect stick included. You can order more per stick. The little screwdriver was very impressively made, the bits are easy to take out of the blue plastic lid and remove for use. Comes with two bits (phillips 00 and the special three lobed one for the joycons). Made repair process much easier than it was otherwise.

UPDATE: The silicone cover on the joystick came off in the middle of an intense battle in BOTW. Ugh! I had to finish the battle with a scratchy little stub of a joystick because I couldn’t get it back on without shutting down the entire system. That’s certainly never happened with the factory joysticks. I got it back on and it hasn’t happened again, so I’m only going to dock one star…for now. I’ll update if I have anymore issues.

ORIGINAL REVIEW: It was a great fix to an annoying problem that I dealt with for far too long. Should have done this 2 years ago. The left joystick on my factory switch controller has been drifting, making all of my gaming frustrating and so much more challenging than it needed to be. This replacement joystick fix kit was just the ticket and it looks/feels just like the original…except it actually works properly! The installation of this joystick was pretty easy, just have to take your time. Lay out the screws in a way that you can remember where they go because they are slightly different sizes and can start to look the same. The worst part was the ribbon cables, but again just take your time. It was really not that complicated, there are YouTube tutorials if you are unsure and need to be walked through the process. However, if you have ever changed a battery in a smart phone then you got this. This fix was so worth it, beats buying a new controller or worse…living with the drift.

WHY? Based on my own research on YouTube, one of the main issues causing drift is the metal base of Nintendo's joystick was slowly becoming loose. The joystick from iFixit show's a difference in design that may hold up the metal base longer/better than Nintendo's design. Instead of two tabs that extend from the metal base over the top-half of the joystick, iFixit's top-half of the joystick has 3 plastic protrusions that go through and hold up the metal base. This design probably holds up the metal base better, whereas Nintendo's metal tabs may possibly bend over time as the user adds pressure to the joystick.

HOW? A very clear video guide can be found on iFixit's YouTube channel. All of the necessary precautions one must take when handling the parts are mentioned and helped me stay confident when using the tweezers.

Some reviewers reported that they received a Y000 screw head, which is too small. Mine came with the correct Y00, so no issues here.

If you have no prior experience doing this kind of stuff, I don't think you have to worry. Frankly, I was reminded of my childhood when I would assemble Gundam models. It felt similar except I didn't have to deal with wires when I was building models!

Mis dos joycons, derecho e izquierdo, tenían fallas con los joysticks. Compré un paquete como en 200MXN con los dos repuestos y herramientas. Como había escuchado que los tornillos en los joycons son muy suaves y se barren fácilmente decidí no arriesgarme y comprar el kit de iFixit.

El destornillador, "spudger", púa, y pinzas sirvieron perfectamente para abrir el joycon, separar las piezas, y reemplazar el joystick sin ningún miedo de dañar los tornillos. Con esta confianza decidí volver a abrir los joycons para cambiar la carcaza de plástico por otra e, incluso después de tanta manipulación, los tornillos siguen intactos.

Respecto al joystick: funciona perfectamente, no te darías cuenta que es aftermarket. Eso sí, se tiene que recalibrar en configuración.

La próxima vez que requiera de herramientas y piezas para cualquier aparato 100% compraré de iFixit.

Bought this before trying the cheaper ones as I thought it would be better quality, turns out to be poorer than most of them with a sort of click feeling whenever I move the stick up or down as it moves about half way between the center and fully up and down positions.

I mean it does WORK, but it doesn't feel great.

The tools have been useful although the scrwdriver is already wearing at the Y tip.
