Tape

Clean Finish

Wait

Wait until the paint is dry to the touch before removing the tape. Check the paint can for the manufacturer's dry times.

Score

Use a putty knife or razor blade to score along the edge of the tape. This prevents paint from being pulled up with the tape and from cracking along the paint line.

Tape

Taking your time, lift up the painter’s tape and pull it back on itself, removing at a 45 degree angle. If adhesive sticks to the surface, try a 90-degree angle.

Clean Finish

You’ll get a sharp, clean line and a professional looking paint job!

    Tale of the Tape
    4 Stars
    Tale of the Tape
This is a good product for painters who need to mask delicate surfaces. The tape's adhesive comes in different strengths, so make sure you pick up the roll of tape with LOW adhesion. The degree of adhesion is printed on the side of the wrapper. I'm an artist and I use the tape for masking the paper on which I use for my pastels and it works pretty well, but even the low adhesive tape can sometimes be too strong for my particular needs. The only reason I don't give it five stars is because I think it's too expensive. Ten dollars of roll of tape is a bit rich, but I'll pay it because I need it.A quick addendum, Nov. 2015: I re-ordered this product, but was delivered a roll of tape that had "MEDIUM" adhesion, rather than "LOW." I then looked (pun alert!) high and low for Scotch's low adhesive tape, but can't find it anywhere, online or in stores. Maybe Scotch is no longer making it. Anyway, I gave up and went to Lowe's to find a "delicate surface" Frogtape and now use that. It's a yucky yellow; nevertheless, it does the job. So if you're looking for an alternative to Scotch...
